TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIESThis is the "official" thread to post complaints about technical difficulties with the stability of the Mystical Message Board dimension. Don't disrupt the flow of an existing thread, but instead, post all technical questions here. Report all snafu's and other difficulties relating your access to and manipulation of the forum. Keep in mind that in the outer realm there is a computer server which supports The Napping Cat's Dream and allows The Napping Cat to project nearly all of the images that appear on this forum. If all the images suddenly go dead, there is no need to run around like Quacky screaming that "the world is coming to an end." The computer server is merely down temporarily. If you see that the images on the forum are coming up blank, then chances are that if you attempt to post with a Signature Card it will come up blank as well. I will keep this thread live with postings of technical problems as I am aware of them and delete outdated problem posts. I will also delete "out of context" technical problem posts which appear in other threads.

This is not a complaint per se, I would just like to point out that while the "Perform" thread features today's {Thursday} comic, the "Mett the Avatars" section is still stuck on Wednesday.Thank you, Quinch

Karol makes a few quick adjustments to the Dream Projector. The image above MEET flickers, and quickly stabilized into the correct image.

While this isn't itself a tech problem, I couldn't find a more fitting board to post this under. To handle the problem of finished RPs flooding the active RP board, could we create another board where we'd store all the old, locked, finished RPs? This is just a suggestion Mr. Furilius, no need to look at me that way...*gulps* *RUNS AWAY!!!!*

Exactly since the new boards opened, my browser is failing to load one image per page. I cannot track down the missing image, and this occurs on every UBB generated page. I've checked threads, boards, the board index, profiles and my profile including the private messages.(edited for clarification This prevents the pages from loading completely. Some will not show up at all until I abort the transfer. Some will show normally, but the progress indicator gets stuck at random values.) I'm more that willing to believe this is not the board's fault, since I use Opera 6.0 beta 1 for Linux. Is anybody else experiencing this? *Preparing another bug report for Opera just in case* (edit) Redirection to the thread after posting/editing post also fails. (/edit)

Jarrett: Occurred to me just a few minutes ago. You tried to post to a thread that was moved. Look in the appropriate board for the target thread to appear.

this is more a question than a problem
well
actualy it can get problematic for me. When surfing the message boards themselves, the title merely states: "The Nice". Threads include their title, but message boards do not. normally, I have several windows open: such as the active topics; MARPG; and MZDM. Thread reply windows (I open them in a new window
yes XP does collapse the bunch) are impossible to tell from any other basic page. Is there any way for the message board's title to show in the title tag? I think this is a change that would help all message boards at The Nice if it is possible.

Thank you Furilius and Nezumi; this is absolutely wonderful.

Not really a technical problem, but you typo'd 'Maltese' on the Comic line below the flash director thingy on the top of the board. ;;

This is not exactly a problem, but might pose one. In the dropdown on the Nice search page, all the NCD forums are clustered on the bottom of the list, except the "Meet", which is crammed somewhere around the middle of the overall menu, and may be difficult to find for someone who does not know where exactly to look. Perhaps moving it down the list to be along with all others might reduce possible confusion.

I created a thread under the login Gnayryn called "Men on Women" and now it says that thread doesn't exist. Uhm....HELP?!

Yang, it is possible that the thread has been moved to another forum.

Okay, from top to bottom, here are your answers:Maus, completed threads will be moved to the appropriate forum in time. I don't think we need any more at this stage, thanks. Vanvanarmo, unless I get more reports of this behaviour, I'm going to assume it is an opera error of some kind. The underlying code that generates the pages hasn't been changed, so I don't think the upgrade would cause that behaviour. Please keep me updated. Jarrett: Your thread (Lame Picture) was moved to CREATE forum. You'll find it Here. Ratter: I'd love to see the same feature, but as near as I can tell, UBB doesn't currently support it. The moment it does, we'll do our best impliment it. Yhkam - Thanks for the typo spot, it'll be updated very soon Quinch - I'm aware of that behaviour, but unfortunatly I can't repair it. The drop down box shows the forums in order of creation, as near as I can tell, and I can't adjust the order. Yang - Your thread has been moved to the Flirt Forum. You can find it here If anyone else is getting errors when loading your thread, it has most likely been moved. Please check the appropriate forum to find it, or wait until we post a moved links list later tonight.

In that case, would it be possible to contact whoever is in position to adjust that manually? I am unaware who moderates the entire Nice forums, though...

Quinch, its a limitation of the software (UBB),unfortunatly. The Nice admins can't adjust it.

Blast. In that case, if there is a troubleshooting section in the FAQ, perhaps it should be mentioned there.

Update: This was entirely my fault. I had Opera set to identify as MSIE 5.0 for testing purposes, and completely forgot about it. Identity settings cause Opera to change the User-Agent header sent as well as table and Java-/JScript parsing.Just stumbled across that neglection of maintenance when proofreading my configuration. I apologize for the stirup. BTW: I recommend Opera for MZDM purposes above every other browser. Since it handles web pages via an MDI interface (read: Doesn't open another browser window for every page.), I have no trouble at all to watch two dozen threads at the same time. Duplicate Window and Open In Background features also come in handy.

Yeah. I posted a new thread, and then I tried to find it, and I can't. When I go to my "most recent posts" thread, it links me here, which is obviously NOT my thread, seeing as it belongs to Pingu. My thread was titled "Apologies and Adieus" and I did check the "threads that got moved" thread, but I couldn't find it listed there..... help?

Your thread was moved here In the 'ESCAPE' forum.I'm aware of the search difficultly, but havn't yet found a good fix. Hope to see you back in the forums soon, though Real life must always come first. (I'll also try to update Moved Threads tomorrow with threads moved by others than myself) - Karol

This has driven me to all but ripping my hair out, and possibly my scalp with it. Whenever I load ANY page on this site, it always shows up in 18 point font and in bold text. It's been happening for a few days, and it's already driving me insane - I have to scroll down 15 times to read ten lines. :-P Any ideas?

Uh... you've probably already checked but have you looked at the possibly obvious font size within your web browser? In IE, it's under View-->Text Size-->Medium. Not sure on other web browsers. It's possible someone came to use your computer and found a site with very small text and so decided to adjust it to make it easier to read but didn't set it back correctly.
