A footprint in history [open intro, continued]
      #116796 - Wed Feb 05 2003 03:47 PM

Woo, part Three of the ongoing story. Continued from here.

WT:

The sound of footsteps comes closer, but it dosent seem to have a source, eather there is an invisible person hanging around, or something has gone horrably rong with spacetime in the surounding area.

Tac:

WT can fit in rather easily, now that he has tried lifting the vines out of the way, instead of mangleing them.

The robot takes a few steps twords you, stoping about five feet away from you. It speaks in a low-pitched mechanichal tone...:

"This message is intended for... *a static burst inturpts at this point, then the message continues* Ship integraty has been compermised... They've taken the explosive. You have one minite and 35 seconds to evacuate the ship" The bot takes another step forward and drops a package at your feet. "These may come in handy, you have just under 8 hours before Wyrm goes critical, good luck."

[after walking sometime and then suddenly coming upon a Massive metal object moves closer to get a better look]

Wounder what this is bit large to be natural but unlike anything i have seen before
[walks up to toush it then starts to circle it running her hand along the outside]
Wounder if its solid or hollow on the inside?

ShishiOsa has little knowledge of technology,
so his fun with the wires will be plain to see.
Pulling the wires made the sound,
so he shoves them back in to see what sound can be found.
Then out of curiousity he pulls them back out again,
curious if once more the countdown would begin.

Larketh:

as you touch it, you can feal the ship's hull gently vibrateing with barely contained power. One of the mounted, automated, mobile canons tracks your progress around the ship, but does not fire. There is a badly damaged section of the ship a few hundred feet to the left of you, it looks like there might be a hole in it big enough to allow access to the inside.

Shishi:

Playing with the wires does have an effect, but does not restart the countdown; rather, a large bank of lights on the wall comes to life, over half the lights there flashing red.

A voice comes over the ship's PA system: "Warning: Primary power bus overload, spacefold coordenents lost. Spacefold will commence in one minite thirty seconds."

Larketh:

The hole is easily large enough to allow you inside. However at that precise moment the ship shudders and throws you into another reality entirely. The massive energies released by the transport eddy and swirl around you, forceing your mind into total unconsusness...

Tac:

About three seconds after speaking, the ship shudders, carying you along with it as it's malfunctioning spacefold engine kicks in. Huge amounts of power suround you, eventuily forceing your mind into total unconsusness...

Shishi:

Picking up the canasters proves to be a BAD idea. The instant you touch them, Massive currents of magical power force there way through you, the overload renders all of your senses, as well as moter controal useless for a few seconds...

WT:

While looking around the ship shudders, massive curents of magical and electrical energy escape from the malfunctioning spacefold engine, arcing through the walls into you and forceing your mind into total unconsousness...

Everyone:

The ship's engine forces everyone unconsous, droping your limp forms at the largest dementional disturbance it's sensors can find... After depositing the lot of you on the ground the ship departs by the same method it arived... As the first few avatars start to awaken they are greeted by the following sights:

The first thing visible is the door, a massive half-oval of dull gray metal, fully 20 feet tall. It hovers, several inches above the ground, the heavily reinforced hinges that hold the door in place fading into invisibility as they get farther from the door.

Scattered about the small valley around the door are various devices of strange and unusual make - art deco starships (or waffle irons), flourescent robots cutting the grass, solar arrays, a massive underground drill system, a mech charging a windmill, and so on.

A small sign sits before the doorway,

HOLE-IN-THE-WALL LABORATORY
PRIMARY INVESTIGATOR: RMH
(attached to the bottom is a dial, and some words written in marker)
The rat is in:sane

Secondly, Wyrm is lieing on the ground in a puddle of blood, presumably his own. While Wyrm's wings ARE missing, they apear to have been removed cleanly, with no raggid flesh hanging off of the removed portions of his back.

Re: A footprint in history [open intro, continued] new

The massive door opens, and three rats, 6 inches tall, each garbed in what appears to be a lab coat. One rat is a bright neon green, the second, yellow, and the third, a pale blue-white, and wearing a monocle.

They're carrying various pieces of electronics and other equipment with them - pushing what appears to be a small hovercart in front of them. The rats stop for a moment, the hovercart drifting forward, until it almost hits someone.

The green rat gestures with one hand back into the doorway, and from here, the group can see holographic letters of brilliant green appear.

"Boss, we've got visitors,"

From somewhere inside, a voice replies, getting louder as it approaches the doorway.

"If it's that used cyclotron salesman again, inform him that the positronic accelerator he sold us last week was defective! I'm going to file a complaint-"

"There are injuries," flares from the rat with the monocle.

RMH steps around the doorway, a much larger white rat, about 5' 8", wearing his goggles and his lab coat a bit more stained than usual, a micropipette in hand.

Stopping for a moment, he taps the side of his goggles as he looks over the group.

"Houeckts, get readings on the spacewarp that brought them here. Fitcy, 'Three-"

"Heading to medical now!"

"Good. Get things ready in case they're needed. Fitcy, grab a kit and assist."

RMH starts pulling medical equipment out of his pockets - there's NO way all that could fit - and starts checking over all present - starting with Wyrm first. Any immediate injuries, he starts taking care of. As he works, he speaks,

"Greetings and welcome to the Hole-In-The-Wall Laboratory. I'm RMH, the PI of this facility. If you have any objections to medical treatment, please inform me. And who are you?"

(OCC: Provided no one else is anything other than disoriented, RMH devotes his attention to Wyrm. He'll treat any wounds, run some blood analysis - if he finds the drugs, he'll nod, and see if he can find an antidote. Once all the immediate stuff he can do is finished, a larger hover-vehicle will come out, and he'll place Wyrm on it. Once Wyrms on the cart, RMH will try to bring him up from unconsciousness. If he can't, he'll turn to one of the others.)

"I need to take him inside to perform any further medical treatment. Due to what appears to have happened to him, I assume that the rest of you will wish to accompany him?"

Wyrm, despite the large amount of blood around him, has suffered no life threatening injuries. Even as you atempt to run the blood tests the worst of Wyrm's wounds seal over. Nanotechnology at work.

As to finding the chemicals... One would assume that RMH, due to the hazzards of his chosen profession, would have quite an extensive knoledge of painkillers. Wyrm is currently under the influence of a morphene dirrivitave, two mild neurotoxins, and a single powerful hallucinogen.

Whatever antidote RMH decides to adminaster, regardless of it's usual time to effectiveness, will take several hours to completely remove the effects of the drugs, but only a few minites to reduce them to roughly half effectiveness.

Raiseing Wyrm to a fully consous level presents a bit of a problem... while technichly awake and aware, he's also under the effects of the hallucinogen... His real eye is open, and tracking movement, but he remains totily silent and unmoveing.

Fault rushes in grabs either side of Wyrm's face and gives him a quick smooch*1. While she's there her eyebrow knot, she seems to remember Wyrm had wings last time she saw him.

"How did I get here? Oh yes, portal hopping."

Fault looks around, noticing other people.

WT stands slowly and peers around himself. Apon seeing those giveing attention to Wyrm he decides to let a bit of information out.

" I believe nanites, or small machines if you will, have been trying to take control, and I think an explosion could accure or something of the like. "

WT brushes himself off and peers around at the faces of those he does not recognise.

"Firestarter"
then slips back into total unconsousness.

Fault turns to RMH.

"Pardon madamemoiselle. Do you know which 'firestarter' he means?"

(OOC: I'm back! Yay!)

Greg had been studying the door, worried about the rising gas. A quick look around suggested there was no gas filtration equipment or gas masks readily available, and he had no idea what the gas would do to Wyrm. Deciding the only way out was to blast his way out, he'd been preparing to draw his laser when suddenly everything seemed to.... shift.

It was disconcertingly familiar, given his first-hand experience with a malfunctioning jump-drive.

It took him a few minutes to overcome the shock of the transition... That didn't feel good at all... he thought ruefully, looking at his surroundings. It seemed to be safe for the moment, at least.

"Hmmm..." RMH pulls at his goatee as he checks the readings from Wyrm. As Larkseth speaks, RMH replies distractedly, "Hole-in-the-wall Labs. A scientific research facility within the Dream."

RMH pushes a button on the hovercart, and Wyrm begins to float lightly in the air above the cart, suspended.

"Nanites? Hmmm..." RMH pulls another device from his pocket, running it over Wyrm to see if he can detect anything. If so, he nods, then puts the scanner away.

"Again, I need to take him to the medical facilities within the lab."

"I am male, and I do not have the slightest inkling of what he speaks."

"Please, if you wish to join us, come along," RMH starts to push Wyrm into the doorway, then points at Shishiosa as the largest individual present.

"I have the capablity via reduction ray to render you large enough to enter via this doorway, or I can activate one of the auxiliary doors for access - that will take a little longer. Finally, if you do not wish to enter, I can send up a communications link for you to be able to contact your companions, should they enter."

With that, RMH pushes Wyrm into the lab itself.

The first room is large, set up as a conference room/rec area. Banks of snack machines line the walls, a conference table in the room center, with several pool tables and video game machines to one side. A small fridge, labeled Lunch Storage, as well as numerous other biohazard sign upon it, sits in a corner. Here and there about the room appear to be science equipment and experiments that have been set up and left as someone went on to something else. Odd pieces of equipment sit in corners, on piles of journals, in seats.

Ahead of RMH, double doors open, and the rat continues pushing Wyrm through. He heads down a corridor, making 6 right turns in under a hundred feet (never changing elevation), and not crossing back on themselves.

Ahead, doors read Medical One - and the two head through.

"But you can't be mail because it comes in little white packets with stamps on. If you get stamped things would be all correct. I have shoes ? With noodles. What's your name, Mr Wolf?"

She looks around very interestedly at the scenery, but instead of investigating*1 she just continues to follow.

Tac wearily rubs his head as he sits up. “Wha…?” Blinking a few times, he slowly begins to comprehend the situation that he’s now in—At least I’m somewhere I’ve heard of, for a change, he thinks to himself—and slowly stirs, taking the package he was given and following RMH, in a slight stumbling walk that will improve over a few steps.

“This might be useful. I don’t know what it is,” he says as he offers up the package to RMH or possibly one of the techrats, no one else, “but I was given it a moment or two before we all passed out and ended up… here.”

He’s got a reducing ray here? Interesting.

He gives his head a shake, then gives a weary smile to Fault. “I’m Tac, ma’am. It’s good to meet you.”

The dragon blinks in surprise,
wondering how he moved to be with the rest,
perhaps it was the flash in his eyes....
"Ah, RMH, I doubt your ray would work on me,
but I can still compress myself a little more you see."

Having that been said, the dragon winks and nods his head.
Then his size does diminish a little more, enough at least to fit through a door.
Then he waits to go inside, and he catches the science rat's eyes.
"Tell me, in all that mess, I doubt you found my coat I guess."

RMH:

The scanner (depending on what it scans for) will detect strong traces of residuell energy from the jump, a nanite buildup just under Wyrm's ribcage, and a serries of conflicting energy patterns.

Larketh:

(assmeing RMH dosnt try to stop you...)

As you touch Wyrm, the area around your hand bursts into flame. The healing magic dynamicly oposes Wyrm's magical structure, tearing both apart rather dramaticly. The longer you keep your hand on Wyrm, the more intence the flame gets. Wyrm remains unconsous throughout the entire thing...
