"My name is Vincent Mon Peters, Dont talk to me... Dont touch me...and maybe i will let you live to see the next day..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vincent woke up, though from behind his trademark sunglasses you wouldnt be able to tell. Just why did he remember what he threatened she so long, long ago? Vincent shrugged it off getting up, sure he had grown a bit soft, but was that enough reason to banish him from where he came from?
He had landed in the dream the day before yesterday... Camping out in the woods wasnt something he would choose to do, but he didnt want to risk going to the inn. For now Vincent would stray from here to there, obserbing his surroundings and thoes who dwell in them. He had to admit that he was surprised to see such a large varity of creatures, he would fit in nicely.
Vincents Mechanical arm wizzed and grinded, looking down at it he noticed several twigs jammed some gears, while their branched twigs pulled wires, snapping the delicate materials.
"Great start to a new place..." Vincent tried to move his arm but the mechanics on it were shot.
"Ouch!"
She couldn't help but yelp when she felt a particularly large root collide with her back as she fell. The low branch of the tree had knocked her off of her feet as she tried to navigate through the forest, rushing into the motionless wood in her desperation to keep up with the impatient Wisp.
She lay, groaning from the pain, rolling to one side so that the offending root was no longer a menace. After a brief moment of complaining at the splitting pain, which she would now have to carry with her for several hours, she fumbled along the soft, leafy ground for her cane.
After discarding a stick, having thought it was the much required item, she found the smooth wood and pulled it toward her. She lay on her back again with a heavy breathing.
She had wanted to get through the forest as quickly as possible, trying to get to the village on the other side, and the quickest route was straight through. Wisp suggested they go round, but Mihoko was tired of the ethereal creature treating her as though she were an invalid.
"I told you to go around!" the angry voice of Wisp fluttered through the air.
"If you would just help me better-" she began but was cut off by the purple mist.
"Oh, so now it's my fault!?" she seemed to growl. "Sorry, I thought I was optionally helping you to see. Not your surrogate eyes!"
Mihoko stuggled to sit up, "If you're going to whizz off then you're not helping at all, are you? You're just making things worse!"
"If you just went around you wouldn't even need my help!" Wisp retorted.
Their heated discussion would likely be heard throughout the proximity of the forest.
OOC: You didn't describe what time of day or weather it currently is. I got the impression by the mentioning of you being at your camp that it might be night, but it could also now be morning?
I worked around it easily enough because Mihoko is blind so there's little need to describe the view, as it were.
((Bah, that is my fault, lets go with early morn ))
Vincents ears had twitched as he turned to the thick of the woods.
-Somthings out there...- Making his way through the woods carefully he crept behind a tree, peering over to see just what was making the racket.
-A female... and.. What is that?- Vincent dared to lean more to get a clear visual on the being with the fallen woman, but the decay of the woods had been unkind to leave several twigs beneath his feet. The weight of his body caused them to snap.
Vincent foze as if his life depended on it, though just a woman, she could be more than what she appeared to be..
Duirenna was still looking for her four missing braids, half of her knowing it was a futile effort and the other half, the new and naíve and nervous half, wanted to do this whole mission properly, tribute and all.
She was flying low over a huge forest, so low that her body heat would have wilted the leaves at the very top of the trees, but not low enough to set them on fire. She was following a very vague search-pattern, going back and forth across the forest until she reached the borders, at which point she would turn around and swoop back over.
She passed over the area of forest containing Vincent, and then Mihoko, in quick succession. They looked interesting, and she considered flying in to talk to them, but by then she had gone too far and would muss up her search if she went back. She figured she'd just have to drop in and say hi on her way back along, in a few minutes' time.
"My, my! You are argumentetive today aren't y-?"
The resounding crackle of twigs underfoot caused Mihoko to twitch from her stationary position on the floor, her head facing directly upwards into the cool morning air. Wisp's visuals that were directed into Mihoko, allowing the young woman to 'see' through the mysterious, ethereal creature, spun about until it finally focused upon the protruding face of Vincent Zen, who will get the distinct impression that it was, indeed, looking at him despire the absence of a face.
He will also notice that Mihoko seemed to bristle as Wisp saw him, holding her staff tight and firm against her chest. Neither proceeded to move, simply staring, watching, fearing the complete stranger. Wisp watched him intently.
Vincent lets out a heavy sigh as he made his way out into the open.
"Forgive me for spying... But currently i reside in these woods... You appear to be lost. For a proper apology, i will be willing to lead you to the town.."
Vincent smirked on the inside, with these beings he could enter town to view upon whats inside. The old world would of exiled him, but maybe in this new place, he could gain their trust enough to fix his arm.
Wisp's form seemed to shudder for a moment before bristling and zoomed at Vincent, ceasing a few inches from him, "Who do you think you are, sneaking up on young women like that! You ought to be ashamed of yourself you-"
"Wisp! Calm down, please," Mihoko pushed herself up into a seated position with her good arm, her head facing straight-forward and an apologetic, though fearful, smile was upon her lips. "I'm sorry, sir. She gets a little defensive. I'm sorry are these your woods? I had no idea, I was just passing through." She paused before agreeing to his proposal. "I would be much obligied if you would guide us through..."
She used the tree, who's roots she had tripped upon, to haul herself to her weary feet and used her cane for support. She could see Vincent quite clearly through Wisp's perception, albeit a much enlarged version due to the ethereal spirit's proximity to the stranger. He appears quite pale and, in her mind, a rather odd hair-cut. However she was accustomed to most men having rather long hair.
Having completed her lap of the forest and seen no telltale glitter of blond, Duirenna swooped back towards the young man and old woman, performing a loop in the air that allowed her to set down not too far from them, wings brushing against the trees as she folded them neatly away behind her.
"Hello," she said brightly. "I don't suppose you've seen four blond braids lying about, have you?"
It was unclear who she was addressing, but she seemed to be directing her question to all three of the other inhabitants of the area, looking about with a hopeful smile on her reptilian face.
Vincent nearly dropped his glasses. "Wha.. whoa.."
Sure Vincent came from an old world, but never has he come across beings so differnt and amazing such as dragons..
"Your... your.." Vincent took a small step back, looking a bit often on the blind woman and her small friend.
"Alright.. where am i?"
|
|
|
Wisp's attention span away from Vincent toward the new voice which had been preceeded by the sound of wings as something descended from the air. Mihoko could now see the anthropomorphic dragon as she stood amidst them asking her question.
"Oh my goodness!" Mihoko seemed as startled as Vincent. She was new enough in the Dream to not have yet come across such a curious beast as Duirenna.
Wisp, however, showed no signs of fear at all and, if anything, seemed to become more defensive, "No we have not!" The bundle of ethereal mist bobbed and shimmered as she fluttered now before the dragon-girl. "If you think you can eat these people then think again!" She paused and, although a ball of energy, it seemed as though she was contemplating something. "Actually, you can eat the male, we don't care ab-"
"Wisp!" Mihoko scolded. "How rude you are. I'm sorry, Ms... Dragon. But we haven't seen anything like that. We... mean you no harm?" She seemed very unsure of herself and nervous. Vincent's question would have to wait until she was sure she wouldn't be eaten.
|
"I mean you no harm either," Duirenna said brightly, figuring it was a sort of greeting with the strange woman's people. Now she had landed, she saw that the woman wasn't in fact old, but was a strange kind of old-young that made Duirenna's head hurt, so she ignored the fact for now.
"And I don't want to eat anyone," she addressed the mist bobbing before her face, trying to focus on it and only managing to make herself slightly dizzy. "I was just looking for my braids and trying to figure out where I am so I know where I have to look."
|
|
|
|
|
|
"Oh good," Mihoko smiled, with a degree of casual demeanour that might seem strange after the prospect of being something's lunch. "As for where you are... I'm afraid I don't know the name of this particular forest. I tend to do that a lot since coming to this Dream land."
"Wisp, leave the lady alone now, dear," she leant heavily on her cane for a moment before taking a few steps forward. "The good fellow here was about to lead me through this forest to the local town, isn't that right- Erm, sir?"
|
|
|
|
|
|
Vincent had kept his guard up until the woman had mentioned the town, readjusting his glasses he had mumbled something to himself.
"Indeed... Maybe someone there will know of your Braids in the town."
Vincent turns to walk but then turned back to the woman and her. Their are plenty of obsticals along the way... If you need.. ah nevermind.."
Vincent began to walk at a slow pace towards the town ahead, he grinned to himself, finally he would be able to walk casually into a place if creatures such as Dragons and Whisps were common. He could be considered somewhat 'Normal'.
Mihoko thought that the stranger was about to offer his assistance but retracted. She wondered what kind of a man did that, certainly one that was conflicted with his own feelings and emotions. Possibly the type that wants to do good but has emotional problems or trust issues.
Of course, she might manage with Wisp's vision, however, like the stranger, Wisp had issues with trust and wasn't likely to be focusing on the ground or trees but rather the man and the dragon.
She took a few uneasy steps before stopping again. He hadn't taken her cue for a name, "Erm. Might I ask what your name is? Mine is Mihoko Kurosawa."
|
|
Sighs turning folding arms "Its Vincent...Is.. eh.. Do you want help? We can get to town faster with assistance.." Vincent gave out a half caring smile, "You cant see can you?"
From behind his sunglasses, Vincent kept a close eye on the dragon.. This new world would be quite interesting, And vincent would have to find out all about these new creatures to gain more strength.
((-nudges the thread-))
Through the trees a village indeed, it was up to date and pretty well developed. Inn, taveren, shops and houses surround the center. From where the group is though it would still be a bit off.
Rinoa had made her temporary home in the village, serving as a Bar maid she worked to raise up a bit of money for some new books, business was slow, but money was money of course.
Just finishing washing the floors she wiped her hands on her apron and picked up the soapy bucket used bringing it outside to empty. Rinoa looks to the distance, the wooded area just a bit away and noticed the dragon flying about.
"Oh my, how graceful" She chuckled but then noticed the dragon turn back.
"Perhaps it wont be such a dull day afterall, that is if they come this way." Rinoa smiles
-------------------- Rinoa's Quest
A life of love and happyness
On outside all that show,
But lost in side her heart a wantingness,
A desire of truth to know.
Desire to learn the past,
A truth, her fathers why,
Her fathers why he let her last,
And forced her mother die.
An in the truth she knows not what to find,
But knowledge of what went through fathers mind.
OOC:Sorry for the delay in posting Vincent. I know Duirenna's PG so I'll remind her to post too.
Mihoko had accepted Vincent's help to get her through the woodland, feeling like a great inconvenience to the man when he obviously wanted to hurry. Wisp was furious and continuously cautioned Vincent to be careful with his new charge and that he ought not to hurry, watch the roots, low branches, soft earth, fallen logs, spider webs- She was certainly a nag.
Once they reached the edge of the wood, Mihoko sighed with relief. She had spent most of her time apologising to Vincent for Wisp's behaviour and found it a great comfort that she wouldn't have the ethereal creature nagging so much anymore.
Wisp gave Mihoko a great view of the town, which the blind woman admired greatly, a smile on her face. She was glad to feel the wind on her face again after the stuffy woodland and the sounds of people bustling through the town was a thrill. The smell of food stalls was also a most welcome experience as she realised that she hadn't eaten for some time, having rushed into the forest without proper thought to her own bodily situation.
"I think I should like to find somewhere to eat, if you know of anywhere Mr Vincent?" Mihoko smiled, clearly not grasping the idea that Vincent might be his first name.
((Gah, I totally forgot I was even in any active threads on here. Sorry!))
What was difficult for Mihoko and Wisp was a piece of cake for Duirenna. Her thickly-padded feet crushed most of the undergrowth, leaving huge sauropod footprints in the ground. Whenever anything became particularly difficult, she'd just take a small run-up and glide over it for a few feet.
She hoped that Vincent and Mihoko and the strange bobbing thing that seemed to be called Wisp didn't mind her tagging along with them. They seemed so nice and it had been a long time since she'd had company that wasn't shooting at her.
The woods would give an eyrie feeling to them, making it uncomfterble to stand another moment within them. Vincent calms as he finds the dragon to be friendly, however he will stay on his guard. Taking the hand of the blind woman he motioned for the mighty being to follow as they made their way to the town.
Once in town, Vincent glanced over to the three. "If you would like a place to eat, their seems to be a good place." Vincent motioned his head in the direction of the nearby tavern.. He despritely needed a strong drink.
Mihoko gave a lopsided nod at the offer, "I should like that very much. Please feel free to lead the way Mr Vincent."
"What!? Why can't we eat by ourselves?" Wisp grumbled aloud, clearly uncaring that either of Mihoko's acquaintances heard.
"Wisp! Manners! I love you dearly Wisp but I do like to associate with others once in a while," she said with a light blush, embarassed at her friend's rudeness. "I'm sorry to both of you for Wisp's behaviour. She gets easily jealous."
Another grumble came from the purple mass, however it was low an no practical words gleaned.
Duirenna didn't quite want to tell her companions that she couldn't enter buildings generally, particularly not wooden ones. It might make them want to turn around and if they were hungry she didn't want to let them do that. Besides, they would have guessed for themselves already- if they hadn't felt the air getting warmer when she landed, they would probably have felt it now they were travelling with her, and noticed her avoiding touching any of the trees. When they reached the tavern she would just wait outside.
((If i may warp the bar slightly to accommodate the dragon))
Vincent looked over at the woman garbed in blue that appeared to govern the tavern, then he looked over to the two (Three if including the Wisp).
"Then go. Eat." Vincent grumbled making his way over to the bar. The tavern was unlike any other, it had your typical indoor service but it also held a patio like setting, open with a series of tables some covered with an overhead shade. Vincent moved over to the open area bar and waited impatiently for the barmaid to make her way over.
A series of townspeople looked to the dragon with both frightened eyes and awe, some seeing the mighty being for the first time. Children of the village however were amused and bewildered with the silver eyed woman and her wisp. A group in the shadows watched carefully over the group, whether they were keepers of peace or wrong doers is unknown.
((No problem, sorry for making it awkward.))
Duirenna saw the way the townspeople were looking at her, and folded her wings tightly to her body, trying to be inconspicuous and unfortunately failing. She sat gingerly on a stone bench, reasoning it to be far away enough from anything combustible, and waited for the barmaid to arrive.
Myst followed Vincent and Duirenna to the bar, which she assumed was serving food. She wasn't sure whether Vincent was a naturally unhappy person or whether he was genuinely grumbling because she wanted to eat.
She chose to follow Duirenna, assuming that the barmaid would come and attend to them. She sat upon the cold stone and felt herself twitch at the feeling, hoping that the stone would at least warm up a little as she sat there. She was watching how people of the village seemed to be staring at them, Wisp granting the blind woman an ample view of their curious faces. She wasn't sure why but she had the feeling that most of the villagers had taken a disliking to the dragon-woman for some peculiar reason.
"Well Ms-" Mihoko frowned as she tried to engage her memory for the dragon's name but it showed up blank. "I do believe that you haven't introduced yourself?"
