Apologies and continued notice of lack of postage
      #618853 - Sun Apr 22 2007 02:01 PM

My deepest apologies to everyone who had been expecting me to post for.. the past two months now? As previously noted on my last ESCAPE thread, I was entering a period of intense RL work, where I was expected to do a 6-day week, where I left for work at 8.00AM, and got home between 10-11PM. Well, that 6-day week became many 6-day weeks. On the day I had off each week, I had to cram into that day al the administrative (bills, taxes and issues with the house. These three still haunt me now...) and technical (I have built a wardrobe, several bookshelves, a large chest of drawers and a few cupboards since I last posted) issues that I couldn't do during the week due to work, which meant the Internet became a tool for getting things done, not a source of relaxation and entertainment (so much so I couldn't spare the time to post here!).

I am working what I hope is my last 6-day week next week, as I have negotiated for a regular 5-day week with my boss. With the added day, I should be able to do all the stuff that needs to be done one day of the week, and spend the other goofing off and doing stuff online. So, don't expect me to post prior to next Sunday at the earliest. I shall try and keep this forum updated if there are any changes.

It's good to hear from you again, General! Though I don't think you've done anything that needs apologizing for. As you said, there simply wasn't much time to do anything else outside of work. :-/

Hopefully that's all been sorted out now, though. After all, even great leaders of undead men need to goof off once in a while.

Glad to have you back!

The General's imminent return and determination has inspired me, along similar lines, to announce an intended long overdue update to the "Haiku Conundrum" thread (as a live chat event which I hope the good General will be able to participate in).

May the winds of productivity blow in our favor for the weeks ahead!

I understand all about working too much and shifts that aren't conducive to down-time. All the best in your negotiations. We're all pulling for you.

I copy that, General Caine. We patiently await your return to a state where you can make more regular appearances here in the Dream.

Eathquake! new
      #619103 - Sat Apr 28 2007 08:03 AM

Today, England has experienced on of it's largest earthquakes for five years. And I was close to the epicenter of it.

Don't worry, I'm fine.. but I'm seriously worried for my maisonette. We're currently waiting on a structural engineer to tell us if we all have to pack up and leave. further news as it comes.

Look at it this way. Even the earth trembles at your imminent return.

I wish you the best of fortune, general. And if I was the Earth, I'd be wary of your counterattack.

These Blasted Earth Tremors! new
      #619306 - Fri May 04 2007 02:01 PM

Our flat is not in the most brilliant condition. 3 rooms need replastering and one room needs further work (although the cause was not the 'quake itself, rather neglectful previous owners!)
I am having a builder come and give a quote for the work on Tuesday as our insurance does not cover this.

I run a website about the town most effected and we've had some interesting photos and conversations about it. There is also so much scaffolding everywhere in the roads around us.
So far a few houses have been condemned for demolition.
Crazy eh!

(here is a link to all about our earthquake. It's pretty interesting really!)
