I thank you for the generous gift, but Gemini has just transformed your impressive arsenal into a collection of toys -- useless for battle. You begin to see the magic at work here and the impossibility of conducting a messageboard war with mere lists and statistics.My war requires living breathing, thinking warriors -- individual avatars who will commit to a campaign and will play their assigned roles once the ship is completed. Our battles will be won through the use of our wits and visualizations. For each cartoon universe we penetrate we will be limited by the "rules" of that world (so as not to offend the gods with our intrusion). If we enter a medieval world we would use only medieval weapons and magiks. In a superhero world we would use superpowers. Only in an advanced space world would we use an arsenal like the Black King assembled. Preparing the ship for voyage has required most of my attention and I apologize for not making more frequent announcements. Prometheus

http://www.algernonsdilemma.com BTW, all this talk about weapons is making me nostalgic. I was an avid wargamer as a kid (still do some, but nowhere what I used to). I was the President and Founder of the "Strategic Wargames Club" at my high school back in the late 1970's. I was undefeated in over 100 encounters, so I was banned from playing. I was denegrated to merely "advising" players. It was humiliating. I've some keen stories to tell though. Nothing like simulated carnage and destruction!! Ah, the good old days.

Equipment comes and goes, but commanders will always be a necessity...A clash of two minds can be equally decisive as one of two armies... Nevertheless, having the army does give pause to potential threats. *smile* The sooner we can move operations into space, the better, I think. At the moment, I will keep the fleet stationed in orbit, out of the way. I have what I think to be a viable battle plan, but pardon me, please, if I don't announce it in public... *shrugs* If only Gemini had shown a bit less favoritism, the fleet could be doing other things than preparing for a conflict on the home front. ------------------

Gear aside, I'm pretty good with my claws and teeth, and even without that, I'm a techie; I've served a few terms a chief engineer. But I don't know if I'm willing to wait for two weeks. What it comes down to is, I don't trust Manchia, and you've shown some pretty shady dealings yourself. I've been tested against some pretty strong mind control and that's not a good idea to try, but what guarantee do I have that I won't get shorted like that Damian person, or worse? ------------------

AK, the war has not yet even begun. This thread is a mere teaser to enlist initial recruits, secure a ship and generate excitement. My withholding of the details of exactly how the war will be conducted has led to some confusion, which is entirely my fault. But fear not, in two weeks, The Gold Moon will be completed. This thread will be "locked" and my new, official thread will begin. I can see how the plethora of message boards out there could use a leader, and Elroar seems willing to accept the responsibility. I know some seem him as being a quote "evil avatar" but you can never look at people in terms so black and white. Instead, look at the fountain of experience he has for an undertaking like this from his past lives. I admit I am sorely lacking in the arts of strategy, and I can't think of a more colorful character to to interact with to learn them from. My one qualm is with a certain footsoldier you keep in your hold. Manchia insulted my fellow water brothers during our ceremony, and I would feel uncomfortable joining your company while this insult is unanswered, as it would be like a blow to those who have placed their trust in me. If Manchia delivers an apology to my fellow water brothers for his actions, I will aid you in your cause.
