Re: OOC: Comic Discussion - Has anyone seen Vertigo?
      #326614 - Fri Apr 12 2002 02:50 PM

You know, I think we're forgetting one of the comics we just saw.....namely, the one where Zen Dao Meow is narrating. Drawing from that, both Hollis AND Zen Dao Meow will survive this particular turn of events.

I wouldn't bet on that. It's been ages since I've seen Vertigo, but from what I recollect, a detective misses a jump during a rooftop chase. A plainclothes cop tries to help him back onto the roof. Instead, he is pulled off balance and falls to his death.

Three guesses as to who's playing which roles here.

Heh.

Yeah, you all got me. I had it backwards. Jimmy falls first, but it's the cop who ends up plummeting. Bye bye, Hollis.

I can see this becoming a trend...

Hollis, can't you ever stay alive for more than an hour? ;) [ooc]
      #326665 - Wed Apr 17 2002 11:25 PM

Seriously ol' cat... getting turned into a Sieve by Val's goon, and then falling off a belltower? You ARE giving us felines a bad name, you know we're not supposed to be easily killed!
Honestly, though, I hope your next life is much longer than this one. You're too cute to be splattered all accross the pavement like that

He is easily k-k-killed...he just has n-n-nine lives.

I think this is g-g-going to happen in every life, though.

Maybe it's just me, but he only fell off a tower, there is a chance he isn't dead. Having said that, I haven't actually seen Vertigo, and if this is following the movie, and he's supposed to be dead, well, it could be changed, couldn't it?

Ah, that they did not focus and use the abilities they had already demonstrated. Hollis need not have died, and the Master needed no saving. Maybe this is more directly related to the Koan... that until he is able to center and allow no disruption to his balance, he will never totally succeed at his trials.

It is regretful that Hollis remains a Spirit. It is clear that neither has reached their goals.

You are a good cat, Hollis. You would have been a great Sauk.

The Sauk Priestess pounces the Dawn Cheetah and gives him a big hug.

A trend, perhaps. But I believe each encounter brings the Master closer to his goal.

Comments on the Comic[OOC] new
      #326229 - Fri Apr 19 2002 05:05 AM

Since as of this date the "Spiraling Heart" arc shall be on hiatus until the forums are reformated, right now is a good time to share some thoughts on it.

Art-wise, I really like how Jennifer Neko (aka Baka Kitty) has been drawn so far. Mr. Ward does her great justice. All in all the art is great and up to par with the earlier strips were drawn, perhaps better.

Story-wise, I am on edge! I did not think Hollis was going to die so early on. Also, there is the great mystery of who Zen Dao is talking to. I have no idea. Maybe Wendy? Val? Yume? Some other avatar I don't know!?

Of course, the cameos are entertaining, but I still hope that they do not get in the way of telling the story of Master Zen Dao Meow and his quest to answer the koan.

Anyone else have something to say? Please post your comments!

Ho-ho. Good-good.

In The Maltese Mandala it took me over 200 pages to find a hollow icon.

I was in and out with my prize in a mere 21 pages this time.

Perhaps it is these new Psychedelic Avatar cameos influencing the dreams in my favor? I had not recalled having a henchman named Dementios nor ever actually attaining the legendary Ruby Kickers, but as I watch the dream, my memories return and I recall my part in this past life too, as if it had been fully lived.

Perhaps it was?

Well Pigham, you've gotten your loot... will you keep it this time? I have my doubts. After all, Karma affects everyone over time.

Hollis seemed to be one of the many "distractions" of Zen-Dao's balance, as does Wendy. He needs to remember something... and then forget it. That's, of course, after coming to terms with it.

As for Jennifer Neko... I really don't think she needs her boots to use her powers... but I have a feeling that those boots were given by someone special... She'll be wanting them back. And Neko's no pushover.

This comic, however, deals with some of Zen-Dao's love issues. I'd DEFINITELY like to see where this heads.

Damn.....I was gonna post that. Anyways , it was very noble of Hollis to try and save Zen-Dao whether he needed it or not. Had it not been for Dementios and Pigham interfering, things probably would have taken a much more interesting turn. *pulls out one of his cards and signs it* "to Hollis, from a naive squirrel who has much to learn. Roland 'Jester' Scythe" *he then casts the card off into the wind and walks away*

Well, it's too bad that we won't see more of the comic for a while-but I love some of the issues it's raising. Others have already noted the death of Hollis, the mysterious voice that Zen-Dao is talking with, and the issues of love.

I'm also curious about what Pigham looks to accomplish with his new prize-and whether or not he can control them. If those boots are as potent an item as he believes, he'd best be respectful of their power before he attempts to actually use them.

Oh yeah! Thanks Benor. Forgot... my opinion is that the "interviewer" is Pigham... why? I dunno... just a VERY strange hunch. I'm most likely wrong though.

::Shakes his head and sighs sadly:: "It's a shame that this had to happen. Hollis is a figure of moral strength, uncorruptable by base emotions like greed and jealousy. All he has done is for the general good, and he believes wholeheartedly in the way of justice and that virtue is its own reward. He would have felt right at home in the glory days of King Arthur's court.

::Finishes writing this on a piece of paper, which he then lays on the ground with a white flower of some kind. Straightening up, he looks at the paper for a moment, then turns and walks away, his words lingering behind him as he fades into the distance:: "Goodbye for now, Hollis Spirit. I hope that the next time you choose to say "hello!" to this existance, it proves to be more fruitful than these past two."

( OOC: There is indeed a reference to the Mystical Icon "Goodbye and Hello Again!" in my post, for those of you who be wondering. )

That's a good point, Rein. Pigham has shown an interest in Zen-Dao before, after all. If he and Hollis somehow lost their abilities because of Jennifer Neko, then I'm willing to bet that Pigham would want to know why; just in case it could affect him as well. And since Zen-Dao is just hanging there, in easy reach of Pigham and his minions, who has a better opportunity to help him up?
