((*Rather embarrassed chipmunkPG shuffles on over, head down.* "Sorry everyone about going missing for the past...uh months. College work and just RL in general are the reasons, But, I'm back! ^_^ MwuahahahahahaA!!!!
Hope you all had a great Christmas, and are enjoying your holidays." ))

*
To'prak was rather surprised at hearing some of the things Vanilla had come across and had fought with. Wanting to learn more about her ability with perfumes, the chipmunk tried her best to ask questions, and learn from Vanilla whenever she could.

To'prak volunteers to help make food/snacks for everyone as well. Bringing over food from her own place after cooking them there the previous night.

With the aid of the perfume Vanilla gave her, she tries her best to help out with the carrying of heavy objects as well. Taking time to ask Vanilla if she needed any help with making the plan for the garden, as well as volunteer on growing/getting the needed plants in a small area near the building site. If Vanilla needs plants in order to make more perfume, then the chipmunk would be happy to ask what plants are needed and grow them as well. She'd be using a combination of both magic, as well as the old fashioned way of growing plants just naturally.

During Angus' lecture, the chipmunk had been sitting in the back and listening, her body rather tense. Upon hearing that Chaos energy was not the same as chaos magic however, To'praks' body relaxed rather suddenly. Her shoulders down, she let out a sigh, slumping back into her chair.
Listening to the rest of the lecture however, she became rather puzzled. "I don't quite see the difference." Commenting to herself outside after the lecture, she shrugs, deciding to ask Angus about it more later when the time comes. Going back to work around the place, she wonders to herself when she should tell her mentor about any of this just yet. Deciding to hold off on telling him at least until the work is finished.

Today, To'prak was standing in the area where one of the oriental gardens were meant to be put in. Trying to get a better idea on how she and vanilla could lay out the plants. Ink resting asleep on top of her head, she ignores the little owl, walking herself along what might become a path through the garden. Jumping at the sudden sound of explosion, she looks towards its general direction. Hearing Angus' outburst right after, To'prak starts running towards the sounds, hoping that everyone was alright.

Once joining the others, she notes Angus, as well as the fennec as he makes a leap for the device in the air.

"Angus? Is everyone alright?" She asks watching Morathi in the air, wondering if he would manage to catch the flying thing.
*

**Ink, hearing the explosion had jumped up awake in surprise. Grabbing on tightly to the chipmunks right shoulder now, he glances up at the weird flying thing. Wondering why he had just been woken up from his sleep.**

(( OOC: Sorry for the long delay on this, folks! ))

He nods to To'prak, squinting. "Yes, no-one's hurt. I'm fine, I just..." Angus winces, rubbing his eyes now. "No, I'm not fine. Can't see right." He turns to focus on Vanilla, but seems to be looking past her. Not only that, he looks stunned. "I... um..."

He was seeing things very differently, but it was a familiar strangeness. As his normal eyes are shot from the flash, his 'third eye' seems to be stuck open. Auras and spirits are all visible to him now, and Vanilla's likely shines very brightly! "Never mind that, I guess. We need to catch that flier! I hadn't finished..."

He turns around at Morathi's leap, watching closely. The flier gets caught up in the fennec's cloak, and buzzes harshly, like an insect caught in a net. As hunter and prey fall back down to the ground, the cloak is still pushed upward with quite a bit of force, the flier seemingly getting stronger as it lowers. As it struggles to get free, it slowly starts to wind down, but it's starting to slip out of its snare.

As Angus watches all this, his eyes dart away from the flier a couple of times. When he sees Morathi, what is it he's really seeing, now? For that matter, what would he see when he spots the other three?

Snarf will find his parking space safely enough. It doesn't look like any strange nasties are crawling out of the tent, or anywhere else. Perhaps the shotgun won't be necessary? Then again, there is that strange buzzing thing caught in the fennec's cloak.

Vanilla's aura shines brightly indeed. Yet, there's a bit of darkness within that aura. It's like a dark seed that is held back by the bright energies, yet is struggling to get free.

"Angus! Oh no!" The ermine almost rushes forward and hugs the fox, but she stops short. The dark seed within her pulsates, as though working some sort of evil within her.

Her aura becomes less bright as a result of the working of that dark seed. It's at this time that she decides to make the flying device her number one priority. She glances at Angus one last time before hurrying over to where Morathi is. "To'Prak, come on!" Her goal is to grab the flier before it can escape from Morathi's cloak. She hopes that To'Prak will help her do so.

What is that dark seed within Vanilla's aura? Whatever it is, it successfully diminished her concern for Angus and stopped her from hugging him.

*The chipmunk walks to Angus's one side, gently holding onto his one arm. "You need to sit down first." Attempting to help him if he does actually take her advice and sit down. "We'll catch the flier Angus, just wait here, try not to move around too much." Not knowing anything about his 'third eye' ((unless she can see a third eye o.0 then she'de freak)) To'prak just figures he must have hit his head pretty hard.
The chipmunk herself has a rather mixed aura of different shades of green. Whatever Angus may just barely notice about her spirit is that it seems to have something attached to it. Though it seems to be hiding itself quite well, considering his confused state, the thing might just disappear from his view as she keeps moving around.
Hearing Vanillia, she nods her head. "Stay put." Patting Angus on the shoulder, she gets up and tries to hurry over.
If there was enough space the chipmunk would attempt calling forth vines from the ground with magic to wrap around the flying thing.

For now she looks at the situation, and if there is an opening the chipmunk will attempt to hold down where ever it seems the flier might be able to escape from under the cloak. "Think it'll really stop on its own?" she asks Morathi. *

**Ink jumps off her shoulder, attempting to jump onto Angus's shoulder instead. He might seem like just a little grayish aura sitting on his shoulder. **

If Vanilla's aura is bright, Snarf is a freakin' beacon. He shows evidence of a great deal of raw talent that is still being shaped by a wild range of training methods. An object strapped to the sloth's left thigh appears to be channeling an energetic flow through it, though not doing much else. Other things in Snarf's pockets seem to emit this or that, though it's hard to tell past his aura.

The sloth does his best to assess things before making another move - he's seen experiments gone completely awry before. His job often involves picking up the pieces, so might as well get started...

Snarf starts scanning the area for arcane energies (he's been here enough, so he knows what the background looks like) first passively (much like listening) and then actively (e.g. sonar) before turning his attention to Angus. The fox probably got a real good look at how Snarf did that.

The device seems to be contained for the moment, with Morathi and Vanilla on that task. The sloth's attention seemed to linger for a moment on the buzzing contraption in the fennec's cloak, most likely taking in more detail from his own 'third eye', before turning toward Angus.

"Angus, how badly do you hurt? Where do you hurt? I heard you say that your eyes weren't working... hold still." Snarf walks to Angus, and pulls the ... flowing thing from its holster, along with something else from another pocket.

To those whose eyes are still working, Snarf took out a small box-like instrument with a keypad that flipped open, evidently something electronic (OOC: Trust me, Trekkies, you've seen these before! :D ); the other item is a copper rod with a clear crystal on either end, one pointed, the other rounded.

Snarf mutters as he walks, "Up and talking, can't be too severely hurt..." Then he asks in a louder voice, "Angus, what were you trying to build?"

(( OOC: Sorry again for the wait, it's been an odd month. Angus will respond to Morathi's aura only after I know what shape it takes. I'm not about to make assumptions in his absence! ))

Angus isn't at all sure what to make of the darkness in Vanilla. His brow creases in worry for a moment, then he looks away. There's no telling how much of what he's seeing is real, and how much is a weird hallucination, after all. His third eye is spiritual, not physical, so no-one else should be able to see it, either!

He winces a bit as To'prak touches him, but nods once she speaks. "You're right. I'm not much use right now, am I?" He settles down on the ground and stretches his legs out, watching that faint motion in the squirrel's aura. His eyes dart about her as he does so, before he catches himself and looks away.

To Snarf, he blinks several times -- not out of confusion, but in a vain attempt to block out the brightness of the sloth on his sight. He settles for putting a hand over his forehead, as if he were checking himself for fever. "Doesn't hurt too much now, it just tingles like mad. My eyes aren't doing too well. I don't think I'm seeing with them anymore." And indeed, though he's looking at about Snarf's chest level, his eyes don't line up right to focus on him. The scans get a good, long look when they happen.

What Snarf gets out of those scans isn't much. The background's pretty normal, though To'prak's magic shines as she starts to work on the flier problem. Aside from that, the brightest spots are a swirl of rainbow energy from a table inside Angus's lab tent, slowly pouring out onto the floor and evaporating. Snarf's sonar-like pulse makes a spray of tiny invisible "sparks" as the energies collide. The flier doesn't seem all that arcane, really, though it may feel similar to some of the stranger high-tech thrusters.

"I was trying to make a chaos energy bottle. It worked, but not for long -- stress point at the bottom. I don't think the Leyden jar's the right model to use... Ah, what's that?" he asks, as he raises his hand out of the way and points his left at the keypad and odd wand-like thing, in turn. "And that?" As he speaks, Snarf might notice that the backs of Angus's forearms seem redder than they should be. Looks like there's some cuts under his fur.

Hopefully, in the midst of all this, Ink doesn't end up thrown off of his left shoulder. Angus doesn't seem to mind the owl being there, at least.

Meanwhile, Morathi, To'prak and Vanilla fight with the flier. As To'prak's vines start to erupt from the earth, the persistent little device frees itself from the edge of the cloak, wobbling just out of reach of Vanilla. The vines can reach high enough, but the machine's path is too erratic now, and it just slips out of the way! Working alone doesn't seem to have worked, but perhaps together, there's a way.

Vanilla isn't expecting to have much trouble catching the strange little flying device. Thus, she is rather surprised when she is unable to do so. "Whoa!"

Managing to stay calm, Vanilla suggests a plan to To'Prak. "Hey, could you please use your nature magic to heard the device toward me by restricting it's flight path? As you do so, could you please put on some of the Strength perfume I gave you, inhale the magical fragrance, and be ready to help me hold onto the device?" The ermine smiles brightly. "Let's use teamwork, like true friends should!"

Morathi's aura is as a mirror reflecting the light of the setting sun; but it is a broken mirror, and the sun it reflects is a confused picture that never quite seems to resolve itself.

Unaware of this scrutiny, the lean fennec will roll gracefully back to his feet and circle around from his position, trying to get to a point where he could corral the flying device towards the vines, or perhaps Vanilla.

"The name I found printed on this gadget is 'tri-field scanner, processor, and recorder' though whoever mass-produced the thing must have a shorter nickname. Move your arm please? I never showed you my wand before, did I..." Snarf swaps from his keypad instrument to the wand, and holds it much like a magnifying glass. "This is a real simple one, acts much like a lens. All it does is focus energies. Now hold still." For a second or two, Angus may 'see' Snarf's eye, hugely magnified - even despite Angus trying to shade his own view, that eye seems to look right through his hand. From the fox's perspective, the eye examines slightly below his field of view. When Snarf speaks, the 'eye' vanishes.

"Okay. I'd say you weathered that explosion pretty good. Looks to me like your retinas took a hit, might have to get you to a healer or a doctor. I might be able to repair your eyes, but you'd need some serious glasses. I lack that kind of finesse." An image of thick-bottomed glass bottles forming into spectacles quickly pops through Snarf's aura. "I think your optic nerves are shut down, that must be why you fell back on your arcane senses. I have no idea how to treat that."

*Backing away in a hurry, she nods her head, eyes still watching the flier. "Sounds good Vanilla." Fingers pointing to the ground, eye's still on the flier, she nods one more time. "Get ready then." Arms suddenly flying up, To'prak attempts to call forth more vines from the earth. This time attempting for them to sprout one after another forming a squiggly line. Trying to call more with a swipe of her right arm to her left, her attempt is to create a net like wall in the air. Trying her best to restrict its flight path and heard the thing towards the others.
If this works she will attempt to reach into her coat pocket. To'prak will try to pull out the bottle Vanilla had given her, and attempt to put some on herself as well as smell the perfume.*

*Ink tries his best to stay on the fox's shoulder. If there is blood however, there's a chance the owl will pick up the scent, and glance around for where it's coming from.*

Future Site of CERL (GM Update) new
      #642606 - Sun Mar 08 2009 08:00 PM

(( *revives self, and considers an IV line of inspiration and time for emergencies* ))

The combined efforts of Vanilla, To'prak and Morathi should be more than enough to capture the device now -- though it seems to have a life of its own! As Morathi tries to catch it, the three little eggs wobble to a stop in midair, and try to wheel off in the other direction. Still, it's not impossible to catch.

To'prak's efforts are met with a soft rumbling of the earth, then a loud silken sound of vines rising up to form a wide net, just as she'd pictured it. The net's strong enough to keep the device in, and it bounces off, making the vines flex just a little. Now it's trapped between a rock and a hard place, as Morathi's cloak should be strong enough to rein it in, and the trio should be able to pull it down to the ground -- if they all pull together!

Meanwhile, Angus shakes his head at Snarf's reply, laughing nervously at the image of thick glasses. "No, no, I'm sure there's a way around that. I'm glad you're careful with my eyes, though!" Ink might have a harder time holding on, with Angus moving around like that, but when he remembers the little owl, he tries to comfort him with some gentle petting. His hand smells of his blood, and he's being careful to only scratch with his fingers.

"Maybe it'll go down by itself. This energy's a little hard to predict, when it blows out like that. I probably caught some glass, but it doesn't feel like I'm bleeding out or anything." As he says this, he looks upwards, and Snarf will note that he blinks, and averts his eyes from the sun. Also, his scan of Angus's eyes would have shown more than just his retinas taking a hit. It seems like he could just be flash-blinded, if it weren't for an odd warbling pattern of energy floating around inside his eyes.

The fox has kept his reactions to the auras of the others down, as much as he can. Morathi's and Vanilla's in particular make him raise an eyebrow in wonder, and Snarf's is quite hard to ignore, but he seems to be taking it all in stride.

Vanilla’s expressive brown eyes are wide with glee as the group manages to catch the device. “Great work, both of you! To’Prak, those vines of yours are so cool!”

The ermine continues to hold onto the device as she looks in Angus’ direction. “So Angus, how do we shut this thing of, or contain it? Oh, and why didn’t you tell us how ahead of time?” There is uncharacteristic anger and annoyance in her voice and in her eyes. The dark seed within her aura pulsates in tune with her anger and annoyance.

"If you can get your hands on it, just hold it down, or tie it down with weights," Angus replies, taken aback a little by the ermine's tone. "Looks like you've got it! Sorry, it's on automatic, there's no remote... and no power button. It's not supposed to run for that long. It'll run down on its own..."

With that said, Angus turns to Snarf, frowns, and starts slapping his hand almost to his own eyes, noticing how he blinks when he does. "Still blinking... and I think I can see where the sun is..." he looks around, and closes his eyes when he's facing right at it. Then he points. "There. That's the bright spot. Why can't I see more than that?"

The chipmunk scratches the back of her bad ear, looking rather embarrassed. "Thanks, good job to you guys too." Shaking her head, she tries to concentrate more on the vines again. If the others try to catch the flying thing again and bring it down, she will try to help out as well. Getting ready to attempt a jump and hold on the thing in the air. She doesn't think much about the ermine's tone of voice, figuring she's angry that Angus had somehow hurt himself. Her tail swings back and forth as To'prak watches the flying item, and the others.

Ink looks up at the hand scratching him. The smell of blood reaching the owl, he tries to determine where the cut is made. Angus moving around would just cause him to hold on tighter to his shoulder. Seeing that there is blood, and Angus is moving around weirdly, the little owl attempts jumping off. Trying to gently land on the ground, next to the confused kitsune.

Vanilla yells at Angus angrily. “Weights? What weights? Oh, and this thing obviously isn’t doing what you expected it to, so it wouldn’t surprise me if you wildly miscalculated how long it’s power will last, you male moron!” The dark seed within her aura is now pulsating quite strongly.

The ermine tries to get a grip on the bottle and hold onto it while speaking to To’Prak. “To’Prak, I like to think that my perfumes are not only magical, but also inspirational. Though the perfume you are wearing only increases your physical strength, try to let its strength-like fragrance inspire you to make these vines your strongest ones ever. Make them so strong, they can hold the bottle as long as necessary. Then, once we have this thing right where we want it, ensnare it with vines it has no hope of breaking free from!” The fragrance is smiling in a very sincere and encouraging manner. “You can do it! I believe in you!” She sounds like she truly means it from the heart.

It might be worth noting that Vanilla is ignoring Morathi and the role he is playing in catching the strange, flying bottle. Could this also be related to the dark seed?

As Angus turns, Snarf notices something in the fox's eyes. "What the crap?" he mutters.

Up comes the wand again for another look. Angus gets another disconcerting look at a magickally magnified eye, and finally Snarf has to grab his head to hold him still. "No wonder I didn't see that..."

"There's something else in your eyes... I think it's an energy field, but I can't make head nor tail of what kind. Also can't tell what it's doing. May I show you what I see?" He implies using telepathic contact to share his own view. (Note to GM: This means you get to handle that description... :) )

Had the sloth been paying attention, he might have appreciated the efforts that everyone else was going through to catch the runaway invention. Snarf's standard answer to such things involves a shotgun. And lots of ammo.

*If To'prak wasn't so trusting, she might have started to feel a bit uncomfortable with being told what to do-with her own vines-and what to sniff. The chipmunk stands with one hand at her hip, the other moving about back and forth along with the vines. Trying to be polite and ignore the feeling that orders were-getting wrapped up in friendly encouraging words- being sent her way. The chipmunk nods her head at Vanilla, choosing to think that she was upset at something else. It wasn't too hard to guess what the ermine would be angry about.

Not sniffing the fragrance just yet, she motions at Morathi.
"Let's give him a chance, I think he's going for it?" she suggests, smiling.

Ink just sits patiently on the ground next to the kitsune. Hopping out of the way whenever Angus moves around too much. The little owl just watches the two talking, wondering why the food bringer was bleeding. "Hoo-hooooo?"

Morathi will continue his efforts to entrap the flying device between the vines and his cloak, and will try to maneuver so that he can once again ensnare it. Should he do this, the lean fennec will call out, "A little assistance please?" while trying to wrestle the machine to the ground. To To'prak and Vanilla's conversation, he appears to be paying no attention, and especially not to Vanilla's uncharacteristic outburst. But his ears are lying flat against his skull, and his mouth is slightly downturned at the corners.
