In Downtown AnyCity, known to the hip, happening and rich as DTAC, there is a Strip. It is not glitzy and golden with acres of neon, as in the fashion of the Las Vegas Strip. But this Strip holds a glimmering allure of its own.
The 6th Street block of DTAC is home to the some of the best coffee bars, nightclubs and themed restaurants this side of AnyCity has to offer. There are also shops scattered here and there from a twenty-four hour 'adult pharmacy' to vintage clothing joints that only shut down when its time for even the workers to get their fill of the night life as well.
Yes... the 6th Street block is a wonderful place to be at night. And one of the best places to be of all on this golden block of fame, is a club that's been around since the beginning of 6th Street's rising popularity.
The Blue Lagoon is famous for pretty people, beautiful music, delcious food, unwatered drinks and its wonderful dreamy atmosphere that seems to come straight out of the glitzy Roaring 20s.
This particular nightclub has a set of headliners like no other. Guest bands and guest DJs come and go, but a dedicated and successful local band with a chanteuse to make your heart break? A rarity in this digital day.
Mezzo D'Octieve and The Tailys do their best to keep the atmosphere of The Blue Lagoon sweet and serene, with the occasional bit of riling up. Because what club would be complete without a scene or two? Even Manny, the flamboyant and very open manager agrees with this.
And with a seven-vixen band rocking your house down everynight, what more could be asked for aside from a tidy appearance and no dead beats?
It's starting out to be another wild night at this particular club. Even from outside you can here the mingling voices of people in various stages of drunkeness, the clink of glass and china making a gentle tattoo that goes along with the steady drumbeat delivered by that rocking vixen band.
Once allowed through the doors of this joint, you see that you've walked into a bubble in the ocean. Rich hues of blues and greens with foamy creams, sparkling crystal and brass all over. Various hints of the sea are places here and there. Waterfalls of pearls and shells coming out hanging baskets on the walls, diffused lighting, a cloudy fog misted floor... its magical.
And the music coming from the snow white vixen in the dark blue silk dress makes it feel even more magical. With hands cradling a shimmering silver microphone, she croons to the patrons while her bandmates, The Tailys provide the melodies to match her smooth and clear voice.
Their stage is a shell. Literally. Rich dark woods that are nearly black shimmer with tiny lights coming out of recessed holes. Starlight. Waves of sea-green fabric surround the bandmates, the source of all the fog within the club coming from here.
The song currently being sung draws to a close and many start to clap, but the vixen holding the microphone raises a hand.
"Ey now," she starts with a smirk. "We've barely begun,eh? Save t'clappin' fer t'last call... now we've got a few planets t'hop if y'know what I mean."
She winks teasingly and wiggles in her spot, getting a few cheers from those who came without 'dates' that night. Mezzo, the jewel of this joint is famous for her soft burr and her little shimmies and flirtations. Keeps em coming after all.
Looking back to her girls, she nods and flicks her hand for the next song!
The vixen smiles out at the crowd and inhales once before holding the microphone close and exhaling the words so dear to her. She gets a dreamy look in her eyes as she sways, smiling something between pensive and sultry. A Mona Lisa smile if you will.
Poets often use many words
to say a simple thing
But it takes thought and time and rhyme
to make a poem sing
With music and words
I'll be playin'
For you I have written a song
To be sure that you'll know what
I'm sayin' I'll translate as I go along
(yeah oh yeah)
The vixen tosses her head back and smirks, one hand leaving the microphone to sway at her side, move to her heart, her lips and down to her hips, no beat is missed.
Fly me to the moon
and let me play among the stars
Won't you let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words
hold my hand
In other words
darling kiss me
Fill my heart with song
and let me sing forever more
'cause you are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words
please me true
In other words
I love you
(oh!)
The vixen rocks back and forth on high heeled toes, her tail swishing like a very flexible metronome as she finishes her words and just flows into a soft, flirty scat that just moves through her and out to the crowd. Her eyes sparkle now, this is obviously where she belongs and she lets you know it.
The bandmates all play there parts to perfection, from the soft strings to that steady bass. The other vixens are just as much of the show as Mezzo in the front. They sway, move their heads, and if you notice, the violet haired vixen on guitar is actually... scatting with Mezzo. Softly, but its there. And when the other vixen inhales to begin the lyrics again, she's still there behind her...
In other words
please be true(please be true, I just want you to be true)
In other words
I love you(I love you, I love you)
(to the moon... to the moon...)
Just take me to the moon and far
(yeah)
The music drifts off slowly, quietly and the vixens all stop, eventually, with Mezzo leaving her little trance of performing to grin out at the crowd.
He'd been dying to take her here for weeks. Day-dreaming, wishing, hoping and Lord knows praying for this to occur.
A beautiful woman entered this club with him tonight. And while this isn't an unusual occurance for the young and affluent Baldwin, its special. Simply special.
Those little things, they really get to ya don't they.
He'd ordered champagne ahead of time. Before they arrived ahead of time. He wanted it to be perfectly chill and smooth for the both of them opon arrival. No waiting, period.
They stand off to the side, a cozy table you know was meant for two. Slightly raises off the normal floor on a platform of ocean blue. He'd make a comment about how the blue of the floor matched her eyes, but he feared her temper and a smack about too much flattery.
He had a way of just letting it drip, he couldn't help himself! What should be an endearing charm could also end up being his undoing. Alas.
Holding his glass up towards the stage, his sweet smile turns into a cocky grin of business. "Excellent band, hmm? Glad I signed them under my father's nose..." He chuckles a bit and shakes his head. Pleasure, Royce. Pleasure. Not business. No stuffed shirt future for you.
"But the girls aside, are you enjoying the evening so far? Even if its very young?"
"Well not enough time has passed for me to really say," CV teased, looping her arm into his as lead her across the floor, heels clicking across the cerulean tiles. "But I can't say I'm having a bad time." Leave it to Royce to pick such a classy place, and with such an excellent band. She could always count on him for that.
And to top it all off? Everything was perfect. The service was fantastic, the champagne chilled, and their booth just private enough. And perhaps, if she was lucky, he'd take her out for a dance later, a few steps on the floor.
Celeste ran a gloved hand through lavender hair, shoving aside the flirty curls that had been put in place for just this occaision. As much trouble as she went to with her appearance, the woman wasn't used to being this dressed up. She usually saved the fancy occaisions and glittering gowns for her father's parties and various charity events, but this seemed to warrant a little flair.
She's beginning to see through his plan already! Smart woman. No wonder he was hitting on her from the get-go. He chuckles quietly while a rabbit slides up, menus in hand to assist with seating Celeste. Royce holds him off and assists her himself, holding the chair out, and scooting it once she sits.
Once he gets into is own seat, he nods to the rabbit, who pops the champagne, pours it for the pair, then offers menus. With a soft assurance that he'll be back, he leaves so the couple can decide on their dinner in peace.
"Well, bad just isn't in the itinerary for tonight, so lets just pretend the word doesn't exist, shall we?" He holds the glass up to her in salute with that saucy, careless smirk of his.
He glances over the menu, already dreaming of the porter house steak they offer here. Delicious. With the right amount of pepper, the steamed veggies and the bread. Yum.
"You know... if you like the steak, I recommend the porter house. Medium rare. You won't find better, and if you do the owner will hunt them down." He laughs again.
"I think I may have to take that reccomendation, though I'm not sure if I can eat it all." She peered at the menu, then peered over it's tip to study Royce, who was all in all looking rather dashing tonight. Celeste smiled to herself, and then went back to perusing the menu. "I'm assuming their salads are equally delicious?" Of course she would go for the rabbit food. She had to keep her figure somehow! It was, after all, part of what had attracted Royce in the first place.
Once she'd made up her mind, she set down the menu and sipped her champagne, offering him a flirtatious smile. "So how did you find this little place?" If she could snap up something like it herself, she could work wonders with the place.
-------------------- Thank you Elysia! It's perfect! <3
The crowds clap and murmur quietly about the vixen after she finishes the first song. With a another toss of her shiny green hair she smiles out to the crowd. She notes tonight there are a few couples out. She even spies the guy who signed her and the girls to his record company!
"Seems t'be a lot o' ya loving types out t'night..." She puts on an affected pout. "Where's t' fun in dat fer me?!" This gets some laughter and a few groans too. Mainly from her band. Regular visitors know that Miss D'Octieve was a horrible flirt. Sucessful. But horrible at the same time.
A dramatic shrug, and she hugs the microphone again. "Well, in honour o' all dis love in t'Lagoon tonight... a song about how Easy it is t' be in it. Love."
Looking to the Tailys, who nod at her and set. One of the girls even switches her brass out for a pair of maracas and a headset microphone! Then they hit it. A soft song that's a little heavy on the synth and even has a bit of scat. Latin flavour.
Mezzo aids this by shaking her hips and stepping as if she was doing a solo salsa, pulling the mic close to her mouth.
Yesterday,you left Brazil and went
away to see the world.
Looking for a distant beach,
a different shore-a faster whirl.
Thinking that your hearts desire
Hungered for some Paris or Berlin.
Caught between the snow and the fire-
Will sweet Carioca love again?
Your superman gonna do the
super-best he can
To free the pearl.
Giving you the superness
that he can do.
Believe me,girl
She unlatches the mic. Somehow between all that singing she quickly and very much quietly released the mic from the base. Cradling it in her hands she walks the stage, sashsaying side to side, keeping the salsa flair going. And upon hitting the chorus, one of her hands shoots up to wave side to side above her head.
That everyday your need is higher.
But love is not Chicago or L.A.
Home is where your heart's on fire
And where that restless snowbird melts away.
It's easy,easy-
Let your love ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
It's easy,
Let your love ring out
Let my loving in today.
It's easy
Let your love ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
Ain't it easy?
Let your love ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
Clasping the microphone in her hands again she smiles, and turns to flick her tail out to the audience. A saucy, playful gesture and she starts to salsa-step to the other side of the stage, the side nearest Royce and Celeste!
Giving Royce doe-eyes she winks and then spins in a bit of a circle. Thank goodness for wireless mics.
Settle down,there ain't
no need to run around.
It's really clear
That I'm the man
Who's gonna do the super-best he can
To keep you near.
Everyday your need soars higher.
Love is not Chicago or L.A.
Home is where your heart's on fire.
Can't deny this love is here to stay.
She can't get too fancy in her dance movements, she's in a fairly figure hugging dress, so she settles for swishing her hips side to side as that arm goes into the air again.
Easy,easy-
Let your love ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
Easy-
Let your love ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
Ain't it easy?
Let your love ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
Ain't it easy?
Let your love ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
Easy,easy,easy.
Easy!
Now this is where Mezzo gets to catch her breath. The vixen with the headset and the maracas comes forward a little. That's Fatin. She's usually not in the front like this, but she's proven herself to be very good at scat. Better than Mezzo even for all her scales and vocal prowess. The pair dance together in the front, making a very interesting pair before Fatin starts to backup, making room for Mezzo to stretch one arm out and begin to belt again.
Easy, easy-
Let your heart ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
It's easy-
Let your love ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
Ain't it easy?
Let your love ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
Ain't it easy?
Let your love ring out.
Let my loving in to stay.
Easy, easy, easy!
When the music dies down, the vixen inhales pretty deep. That last note took a bit outta her. Laughing her little laugh she throws the crowd in the club a thumbs up.
"See how easy it is 'veryone? C'mon try t'tell me its hard!"
She would say that he thinks to himself with a inner chuckle. He wasn't exactly suprised she wanted to go for a salad. To be honest, Royce is amused her appetite isn't heartier. With all the fighting and training they do, you'd think she'd want a two porter house steaks!
He shrugs this off and takes a sip of the champagne. "When it comes to salads, I'm not a big fan of that much green. Starts to make me clash rather terribly." He snickers.
"Little?" He blinks. Well, the way the place was styled lent itself to wanting to feel small. Old world and stylish in that antiquated way. He chuckles softly. "Oh if you were here to see it without the dimming darling... you'd take it back. But as for how I found it? General club hopping. Me and a few guys somehow were allowed in," He jingles that ID bracelet of his and smirks. Lucky lucky. "And well, the guys got bored. I got interested. Especially with this band on stage. They didn't have a steady vocalist before, stuck to ambient types of music."
Mezzo makes doe-eyes at the human and he cracks a grin and gives her a salute with his glass by raising it. "Then that one there came in looking for a job from what I heard, and turned this joint upside down. I went from interested to bringing the contracts in behind my dad's back.
Celeste snickered at his joke, then peered at the menu for a little while longer before sighing resignedly. "Alright, no good behaviour for me tonight. I'm getting the steak." That decided, she tossed guilt aside along with the menu, and sipped her own champagne, flicking Mezzo a brief glance as the singer made doe-eyes at her Royce. If the vixen decided to come over and flirt, CV would be quick to make her regret it, signed under Royce's label or no.
"You did well to snag them," the lavender-haired woman replied. "And I'm sure your father will tell you so once he gets over the fact that you did it without asking." She grinned, then shook her head. "You're lucky you can be involved in your father's business. Construction isn't really something that draws my interest." She swirled her drink in her glass, frowning a bit. "Alas, I am an only child, so I will have to at least learn how to keep tabs on the business, for my father's sake." The company was his pride and joy. It just wasn't her's.
