Procellifer's Manor (Seeking staff and students)
      #635938 - Wed May 28 2008 09:11 AM

In the very centre of a large, dense forest, divided sporadically by a mesh of winding paths, all difficult forks and dead ends; there is a huge clearing, bordered by high iron railings. Perfectly-manicured, rolling lawns with sheltered stone walkways lead up to the manor house of the demoness Procellifer.

Built in a kind of Czech neo-gothic style from black granite, the manor certainly makes a lasting impression. Bought for Procellifer by her master Rhiannon, the building is generally cold, musty and seemingly unlived-in. There are a few warm spots that feel like home, namely the kitchens, drawing room and library.

As you enter through the tall, barred oak doors, you will come across the foyer, all red carpets and candles burning in brackets on the walls, which still do not suffice to keep out the chill.

If you follow the enticing aura of warmth, you will come across the drawing room, which is Procellifer's main hub of activity. Here she corresponds with her master and her acquaintances, and also gives etiquette lessons to any young women that seek them.

((Anyone wishing to work in the manor is welcome to PM and apply. Butlers, cooks, maids, anyone with skills in that sphere will be welcomed. Also, should anyone wish to be an etiquette student, please PM and let me know.))

Myst had gotten a hired carriage to take her to Procellifer's new mansion, far from willing to walk, or even travel as mist, through such winding and confusing paths. She hopped out of the carriage and bade the coachman good-day having paid him upfront. The large doors loomed before and she approached them with some nerves rattling within her stomach, a small hand shaking as it tapped the door knocker against the wood.

She proceeded to wait, subconsciouly biting her lower lip as she did so. She had desperately needed somewhere to live when she realised that without her family, back in England, she would soon run out of money and be homeless. The invitation to live with the beautiful Mistress Procelifer was a dream-come-true and she gladly accepted, finally finding herself on the elegant woman's doorstep.

The demon stiffened his back, cleared his throat and walked out of his quarters and toward the front door that had been knocked upon.

He had taken to the position of butler at Procellifer's mansion, having seen the advertisement some time ago. He was surprised to find that the Mistress herself was, in fact, a demoness, though not the disfigured kind he was used to seeing in his own version of Hell.

He hoped that being a demoness, his new mistress would understand his wanton desire to be good and through this position, the servile, he would redeem himself, at least in the eyes of those that met him.

He placed a large hand on the door handle and pulled it open gently, a resounding creak from the large doors filling the foyer as he did so.

"Yes?" he spoke with his usual high-classed British accent and soft demeanour.

Lonski shifted the drawstring bag on her back once more as she eyed the Castle from her perch in a tree. It looked impressive to her, from this angle. Not that it looked any less ominous to her.

She hopped down easily from her branch and landed on her feet. After allowing a moment for the pain to dull from her feet, Lonski adjusted her bag and sword on her back and walked forward towards the direction of the castle.

The Warrioress didn't know the exact reason why this Procellifer caught her interest. She was the kind of woman Lonski disliked, for the way she acted to others, the way she dressed and spoke. Still, there was something that caught her interest and being a naturally curious person, Lonski decided to seek her out. Coming to the Castle was the perfect excuse.

Though, she didn't know what position she would take in the place. She knew it was a School so there would be students, but there would be teachers as well as many other roles which could be vacant. She supposed, once she got there, she'd figure it out.

Then she realised that without noticing she had walked through the wrought iron gates and had stopped before the rather large door of the castle.

Damn.

She internally flipped a coin as she nervously looked around the place. It spun high in her mind.

'Wait, since when was I nervous?' Lonski thought and mentally slapped herself. 'Stop with the mental stuff.' A voice hissed at her and she slapped her face physically but then froze as a moment of realisation came. With a sigh Lonski rolled her eyes and said in a low mutter, "Great, I'm going mad."

The coin landed. Student.

"Damn it all."

I don't know who I am or where I'm from but you're sure as hell gonna remember me!

The Drawing Room

Procellifer sat calmly at her desk, composing another series of letters to send to her 'friends' at court. Effortlessly remembering the finer details of their lives, she congratulated one woman on the firstborn son she had provided to her husband, another on being accepted to the court, and yet another on her engagement. She commiserated one whose father had recently died, and apologised in advance for her absence at the funeral.

Once the stacks of letters were done, she summoned some minor imps and handed a letter to each one, with strict instructions that it be delivered via normal post, not handed to each woman in person. The last time, one of the creatures had disobeyed, and accidentally caused a swooning fit in the classmate it had appeared to.

"You could have let me post it, Mistress," Katarina spoke from a chaise-longue behind her. The young maid was lounging, her slippered feet resting idly on the pale blue cushions.

"Sit up straight, Katarina," Procellifer replied without turning around. The red-haired Wila obeyed in an instant, bolt upright and presentable without any hesitation. "And why on earth would you want to post my letters? No, don't tell me. I imagine young Geoffrey the postmaster's son has something to do with it."

Katarina smiled dreamily, her face uncoloured by any kind of blush. Procellifer sighed.

"I thought so."

It was then that she heard the timid tapping of the door knocer echo around the foyer, and the almost inaudible sound of Dave padding over to answer it. She closed her eyes, and waited for the near-inevitable scream.

Myst's eyes widened with horror as the monstrous beast opened the door. She seemed frozen solid, her muscles unable to move, her eyes fixed upon the creature's hideous face, hovering over the stapled eye. She felt her throat quivering and the uncontrollable sound that emerged from her mouth, followed shortly after.

"Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!" she squealed and burst into a flurry of steam that spread in all directions away from the door and the sinister creature that stood there. She seemed to have disappeared completely...

Dave's unstapled eye blinked over the hollow socket, a lonely blue glow eminating from within. He stood in the doorway for several moments as though waiting for the guest to return but when it seemed that there was no hope, he motioned to head back inside, a little disheartened. He would never make a good butler if he scared away all of his mistress' would-be-students.

Then he spotted Lonski down the path and continued to hold the door open, his huge bulk standing in the doorway waiting for her.

The Doorway

Belén had been walking in the gardens, and had chosen that moment to return. Excited as she saw two young girls approaching the manor, she hurried towards them. Then one of them evaporated.

Belén blinked. It wasn't a normal reaction, when faced with Dave, but then, her reaction hadn't exactly been normal either. She had forgotten her glamour, and appeared as her usual, hollow-backed, cow-tailed self. Which had been embarrassing.

"Greetings," she curtseyed to the arrival who hadn't evaporated, before making her own way through the door, nodding to Dave in passing.
