Rogues' Den (Building Acquired, need major refurbishing)
      #638498 - Fri Oct 17 2008 11:03 AM

Santo Bendito figured the busy city would be the best place for a sanctuary of some sort for his many ‘talents’. Having pretty much accomplished many things in the city, the thief decided to expand his worth even more by creating a place for his brethren. Having already found a place where he ‘acquired’ the deed to, Santo peeked inside the large front doors of his new abode to see that it was a dire mess. No respectable business would ever look like the shambles like this building was in

((OOC - This will be a place for Thieves, Mercenaries, and Bounty Hunters all looking for work or jobs. Will update and be hiring shortly. Events will follow.))

The thief walked deeper into the half-secluded building to see that it was more expansive than one would think seeing it from the outside. Expanding out along both sides of the high walls were stairs with elaborately carved banisters reaching up to the second floor. A large and widely curved loft overlooks the entire first floor. Along the wall, pictures were hung that seemed to belong to the last owner. The only window in the place was positioned on the second floor behind the loft. Its large circular shape, sectioned in a cross wooding, allowed the sun to pour in its bright light filling the entire building with its warm glow.

All along the walls on both floors were randomly filled rooms of each kind imaginable. The only consistent rooms were the two bedrooms on the second floor directly across each other closest to the back corners. Another special feature in the building was a large, brick-layered fireplace on its left side. A cedar mantle was crafted above with a head of a black dragon at a trophy piece.

Everything else in the building was a complete disaster. There were holes in the paneling on the walls, the brick from the fireplace crumbling, slightly rotting wood flooring, and doors falling off their hinges. The place needed some work, and Santo could not do it by himself. He would definitely need help. Money would not be a problem since business has been good lately. This business he was giving himself into would truly expand his name, wealth, and worth at least five times over.

Posting ads in any way possible in the papers, community plazas, etc, Santo offered jobs for carpenters, masons, and a special ad for locksmiths. Santo simply worked on what he could while he waited for responses to his ads. His last act was to place an ad for business partners great at marketing and networking throughout the city.

Pulling up in his fashionable Cabriolet, François went ahead and opened his door before his chauffeur, Max, who was trying to get the door quickly. The blue fox's cane struck the ground as he lifted himself out of the vehicle. The neatly-pressed, semi-formal tux fitted the fox perfectly as he walked up to the doors of the establishment. Rapping on the door with the star sapphire on the head of the cane, the door seemed to open a little bit. The place was quite beat up, and he wondered who would actually fix this place up.

The ad's owner was named Santo Bendito. François wondered if he was a business man, but it wasn't likely since he was asking for marketing professionals. The blue fox had enough capital to possibly help out if the income is worth the risk. First impressions weren't that great, but he's seen worse. His own establishment were worse at times. He taps the pointed end of his cane on the ground making an echoing noise throughout the place. "Monsieur Santo!!" he says in a slightly raised voice.

Santo came out of his room. His hood was down which exposed his scarred face and neck. Coming down the stairs, he sees that his guest is a classy, blue fox. Money was what Santo saw in the individual. It was obvious that he was here for something that involved his new business. The thief finished his descent down the closest flight of stairs. The place was still a mess, but it looked better than it did. Perhaps, the individual would help.

"Welcome to the Rogues' Den mister. How may I help you?" Santo said with a decent smile; even if, his scars stretched a little.

"Oui, Monsieur. I am responding to your ad for marketing experts. Zhat eez yours truly," he said with a slight bow. "My name is Monsieur Frédéric François Sévère. You may have heard of me, or you may have not. It matters not, and I'd like to get down to business. From zhe looks of zhings, you just bought zhis building, oui? Excuse my rudeness if it always look like zhis. What exactly do you need me to advertise?" he asks taking another good look around the place.

"This place will be called the Rogue's Den for those who are looking for mercenary, thievery, assassination, demolition, etc work. I plan on expending beyond that, but for now, I'd like to get this place filled with applicants seeking commissioned jobs. The system is already worked out, but I need those who need jobs and those who are hiring for these positions," Santo explained giving enough information for the blue fox to get a grip on the situation.

"I'd also like to expand it farther than this meer city. The construction and re-modeling will take a bit, but it will suffice enough to fulfill what those need of it. The place can stay the same as long as the business goes off without a hitch. Any suggestions?" he asked wondering what the fox would do.

François figured this was the case. He already had called to his printing company in Anycity to ready up the machines. He also got his advertising corp on the NCDnet gathering the required documentation to fill out and submit by the time he came back.

Now, that he knew exactly what was needed, he merely opened up his phone and dialed three numbers...it initiated everything. The blue fox then ended that coding and dialed a different number. "Excuse me one second," he said turning his back and walking along the dirty floor. His cane struck parts of it which broke off some of the tiling. Such cheap tile will need to be replaced. The vampire first talked to his commissioning company to hire workers to fix this place up. It should at least be presentable enough for the people he thought might answer the ad. Afterall, he was putting his own name on it as well. François was sure Santo would not mind.

The blue fox closed his phone and returned his attention to the entrepeneur. "I 'ave set everything up. Workers will arrive today to get estimates on cleaning and fixing zhis place. Am I correct to assume you have zhe money to accommidate zhis, yes? I have also made sure the advertisements were made via the NCDnet and the papers. You will get your ads answered as I have put my name on them as well with you being zhe boss. Eez zhat acceptable? he asked quite confident with himself.

*A human with long brown hair with a black furry cat on her shoulder walks into the Rogues Den. The human's clothes look very much like pirate attire. Red & white striped shirt, black pants, black boots, a rapier on one hip, and a dirk on the other. The floor creaks under their weight ever so slightly. Her walk is elegant as she moves across the broken tile floor. That is, until a small section of floor breaks under her step. The human falls forward, and a yell can be heard as the cat flies off the shoulder. The cat lands a couple feet ahead, her fur frayed and her tail as big as a raccoons.*

"Watch where yer steppin' will ye?! I nearly broke me neck! Can ye do nothin' right? I swear.. if ye weren' in me body... " *The cat glares angrily at the human. The human gets up, her fingers curled inwards. She looks at her cat and tilts her head*

"Murreow?"

*Mina just sighs and turns to Santo.*

"We're 'ere t' reply t' yer ad. Not sure 'ow much 'elp we can be, but I'd be willin' t' take jus' 'bout anythin'. Sweetums be really good at chasin' mice, if nothin' else."

"Yes, yes, that is fine Mister as long as they come. I have put a lot of effort and time into this project of mine," he lied, but it was great to find a sucker to do all the hard work. He didn't even give him a price, which wouldn't have mattered since he had some locked away in his personal vault. "I'm quite curious how much all this will cost me actually? I'd like to know the damage before I commit to your services which are greatly acceptable."

This was when someone else came into the scene. It was actually two, but one was a cat sitting on the lass's shoulders. When the pair fell forward on his broken floor, Santo merely just stared at the accident. The furry cat landed and hissed at the human and spoke? This raised Santo's eyebrow slightly. Surely, the cat didn't just speak.

Then the human mewed? There was something wrong with this picture, but he had seen some weirder things happen in Anycity. As the cat spoke about the ad he had put out, he didn't want to simply blow off the fox. It seemed he would have to though. He thought about what they could do in the business' current position. There wasn't anything as of yet, but surely, something might come up.

"I don't have any business yet for you to do, but if you want to help, you can help me with planning the decor in this mess hole," he offered.

François punched in a few buttons on his pad and a slip of paper exited from the top. He handed Santo the slip and said, "Here. Zhis is the price. I must be off. Business is everywhere, and I'm late for an appointment. Call zhat number or stop by zhe club to give me your answer. I shall be awaiting to hear from you."

The blue fox left Santo to speak with the cat. He thought it was weird to see a furry cat speak as well...usually they were his height. No matter since he had to leave. He pulled the knob of the door and proceeded out. The cane smashed through one of the broken tiles on the floor which sparked outwards towards another. The door simply closed behind them.

"Ah, I s'ppose I might be 'f some 'elp t' fixin' up yer place. I always preferred th' rustic look when it comes t' decor. But I be sure that we may be able t' come t' an understandin'. Me name be Mina by th' way. An' th' human be Sweetums. Long story short, I be in me cats body, an' she be in mine. Someday I 'ope t' return to me own body, but f'r now, I be stuck in this one."

*She jumps onto higher ground (one more waist level to Santo), and puts out her paw in introduction.*

Santo grabbed the slip of paper Frédéric gave him and nodded. He looked at the price and raised an eyebrow. It was steep but manageable. He might have to pull a few jobs to get that amount. "No problem. I shall contact you," he said as he waved him off.

It took him a second to recognize that the cat was still talking to him, but he shook off the thought of the price and returned his attention towards the feline. "Ah, yes, rustic sounds good. It will need to be something that anyone would be comfortable to enter, yet dark enough not to draw too much attention. Majestic colors are fine, but nothing bright will be in here. I can't stand to have my pupils pinpointed with whites and chrome finishes." he said interrupting halfway through her speech. He simply looked down upon the cat which would have put a crick in his neck after a while. Santo heard the cat's name and saw him jump up on a lonely side table next to the staircase. He shook the cat's paw which was something he never had done in his life and said, "Mina, eh? You can call me Santo, nothing else mind you. What did you do before the..uhh..switch?" He motioned his hands between the two hoping Mina would get the picture of what he meant.

*She sat up proudly at the question of her previous endeavors.*

"Ah.. Before me an' me cat landed on th' dream, an' our bodies switched, we sailed th' 'igh seas. I was a pirate. Mina th' Maniacal I was called. Sweetums was better than any parrot says I. On th' seas, she's th' perfect companion, an' she never minded th' water much. O' course, that was when I wasn't mindin' what she was eatin' an' puttin' in 'er body, since it wasn't me body she was doin' it to.

"I do miss th' days o' pillagin' an' plunderin'. Th' opportunities t' do such things in me current body be a bit slim. But I saw yer ad, an' 'oped that maybe ye would 'ave somethin' f'r us. Even if it be small. I still know 'ow t' work a dirk. While I did finally teach me cat t' 'old a sword, she still can't use it. I be willin' t' 'elp out 'ere to' if ye need it."

Re: Rogues' Den (Building Acquired, need major refurbishing) new

Santo thought for a moment before folding his arms and cocking his eyebrow in the air. His scar on his cheek danced a little bit before it rested again stationed in its spot. The thief wondered what the cat meant when she mentioned being able to hold a dirk. Her partner only caught mice which would be useful enough to rid the building of the unwanted vermin, yet having a potential pirate on his side would be beneficial to him.

His arms came undone and rested on his side. The side table the cat was standing on had a drawer which he bent down to open pulling out a book. Dust was on its cover which he blew away (not in the direction of Mina). It was a black, leather book with no writing on it. A lock was kept on its end to keep individuals out of it which Santo then pulls a pin from his pocket and started to jimmy it open. In a matter of moments, the lock was undone and the cover was lifted almost automatically.

"This is my master book of potentials craftsmen and other professions. I'm sure you can imagine the significance of knowing the right person for the job at any situation. I would think an individual such as yourself would be interesting in some undercover work for a small introductory payment from yours truly? Something a pirate with a dirk would be able to accomplish accordingly? If you are interested, I can give you a more proper job for your talents? If not, then I can find you something here to work on for me. I care not," Santo said flipping through a few of the pages looking back and forth from the book and Mina. He simply waited for an answer from her.
