The Temple of Dreams (Mr Zims Home/ Open to all)
      #321084 - Thu Nov 14 2002 07:45 PM

Where once there was a vast forest now sits a magnificent traditional japanese temple. Called forth from centuries of hiding in the shadow world. The Temple of Dreams fades gradually into existance at the call of the one who hid it so long ago. Composed of many buildings and gardens the temple is open to the land. With places to pray, a hospital wing, private meeting rooms, a vast library, several rooms dedicated to martial arts, a magic lab for the learning of and experimenting with spells, and last but not least the large living quarters.

Real life pictures of temples in Japan that I thought were close enought to my minds eye view of the Temple of Dreams

A picture of one of the gardens

(OOC:Full credit for the pics goes to person who took them and to the people of japan for the beautiful buildings)

The sole individual living at the temple is the old and kindly Mr Zim. Often found wandering the halls or praying at one of the many shrines Mr Zim always seems to know when people arrive and will be there to greet them. Dressed in Motsuke koromo sugata Mr Zim looks the part of the old monk one would expect save the undeniable twinkle of humor in his eyes and the strange grace with which he moves. When new people arrive they will find the temple to be in perfect condition. The gardens are always in bloom and well maintained, the walkways are clean, and the structures in a perfect state of ready for their next guest.

To those gifted with magical sences or being spell casters themselves will find ancient spells woven into the very stones themselves. A magical dome (visible to those with the proper sight or during a bad storm) shelters the temple from the worst of natures fury allowing only the gentlest of breezes and light rains through. Magical wards surround the entire temple guarding against those with evil intent to anyone or thing within the grounds. Once inside the temple the magic of the place becomes even more obvious as the structures can be seen to clean themselves, candles never burn down, the rock garden rearranges itself depending on the time of year, and soft singing can be heard at all times.

OOC (sort of):Now that you know about my home please come and visit. It is far to large a structure for one such as I to inhabit alone.

Time: Morning (around 10:30)

This morning the sky is clear and there is a slight breeze that keeps the temperature cool but not cold. having tended to his morning duties and brought a light rain for the gardens Mr Zim finds himself traversing the main garden along the stream towards the small waterfall. Reaching the center of the garden he removes most of his garb, keeping only a pair of loose black pants and a black shirt. Taking a few deep breaths he begins to do Katas. Moving with the grace of one who is acting without any concious thought to his moves, Mr Zim lets his mind wander.

Such a grand world to live in. A place where Gods, Mortals, and the Shadow live in relative peace. This is the first place where the temple has existed in peace with the world around it. The shadow was wise to hide this place from the light but it is not theirs either. I wonder if it will ever return to those who saved me, or if they still wait for me in the world beyond. I still remember the day when I hid you from the world. It was a day like this... clear, calm, with a breeze that made me long for the road. You where hidden in a valley away from the prying eyes of the human race and in a place where the light would never think to look. I found you by accident as I traversed the mountains seeking some rare white fever roses for my latest experiment. There you were... as beautiful as you are now, without a soul to be found anywhere. I thought you to be an abandoned temple and I remember paying for that mistake. Your master at the time... Kenkota the damned... he gave me quite the fight for you. When it was over Kenkota lay dying on the step to the main hall and I was not much better... thats when you came to me isn't it?

I remember laying there saddened that I had failed in my quest to traverse the world but happy that I had stopped Kenkota from committing any more atrositys. I felt a gentle breeze play over my skin and it felt like little hands pulling and tugging and my blood stained garb. Then gentle hands lifting me and bearing me into the main hall where you lay me before the only thing Kenkota had failed to destroy... the alter of dreams. I slept for a time and when I returned to the waking realm my injuries where healed and the ring of the martered healer lay in my palm. It was then that the voices spoke to me.

"Young one... awake and rise.... the shadow comes to destroy us... send us away where we might be safe... call to us and bring us back to a world where we might live... we have healed you for loosing us from that monster... Akaru... awake... Akaru Zim...... send us away..."

I rose as the voices faded. I strode out to face the shadow that had come to retake you from me. I vaguely remember standing on the very spot where kenkota fell and denying them. I lifted my hands and spoke the words to send you away as the voices asked. As you slipped between the worlds the shadow attacked. It was a battle like none I had seen before or since. When it was over the valley was destroyed and I was once more on the brink of death. Laying there bleeding out my lifes blood on the cold blasted ground the voices returned.

"Akaru... you can not die... you have the power to heal yourself... we will not let you die... if you die we will be forgotten and that is worse then death... young one... little one... live.... your time has not yet come... there are others who yet need your skill... many quests yet need your wisdom ... many wounded yet need your touch... We long to grant you the peace and rest that you long for yet we know that you are not for our world yet... your eyes do not yet see... we will always be here... always watch over you... Akaru Zim... live..."

When next I awoke, much time had passed. Nearly 2 months had passes since you were sent away from the mortal world. I got to my feet and looked to where your gardens lay months before. There was no trace that you had ever existed save a single lotus flower that lay at my feet. I left, taking that flower with me, returning to the home of my emperor. Now centuries later I have kept my promise to the voices and brought you back to a world where you might live. Now we both have found a world where we might live out our respective lives, you in safety and I in peace...

Bringing his mind back into focus Mr zim wipes the tears of memory from his eyes and redresses. Once his monks garb is complete we makes his way to the main courtyard, settles into his old rocking chair, and watches the path throught the forest for no reason other then rest.

A wanderer is enjoying the clear morning. Shaper looks about at his surroundings, noting that on a clear day, everything seems more beautiful. His long ears are open to the sounds of the morning, and the cool breeze feels good as it flows through his fur. Since there is nobody around to share the good feelings with, he just talks to himself. "Gosh, it's been a long time since I've felt this way. What a great morning."

Then suddenly, Shaper begins to look afraid and nervous. Silently, he thinks, Then again, something evil and dangerous would have a much easier time noticing me on a morning this clear! Plus, I just spoke allowed. What if there is something evil and dangerous nearby, and it heard me? Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! The kangaroo looks around while trembling nervously.

As he is looking around, Shaper happens to notice something interesting off in the distance. Huh, what's that? Some sort of large building? Suddenly curious, the 'roo begins hopping toward the sight.

A short time later, Shaper can see some of the temple clearly. Wow, what a grand series of structures! Just look at those beautiful gardens! Gosh this place... not only is it beautiful, but something about it feels curiously pleasant. A look of confusion crosses Shaper's fuzzy face. Why don't I see any people here? This place isn't rotting, surely some people must live there and maintain it. How very odd! Too curious to be nervous, Shaper continues on down the path toward the temple.

Looking to the main path as the temple readys itself for a visitor Mr Zim get out of his chair and goes to stand beside the path. Watching as the roo makes his way down the path Mr Zim checks with the wards.

No hostility of any kind... fear and curiosity in equal parts but curiosity seem to have the upper hand... all in all a kind and gentle guest

Once his check with the outter wards is done and he is certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that the visitor has no ill will in mind Mr Zim waits with a smile to greet his first visitor. When Shaper is close enough Mr Zim bows formally and greets him.

"Welcome to the Temple of Dreams. I am Mr Zim, the caretaker."

As Shaper gets closer to the temple, he is more and more struck by it's beauty and complexity. He also finds himself growing more and more curious.

The 'roo is so caught up in looking at the temple, he doesn't notice Mr. Zim at first. He is rather startled when he finally notices Mr. Zim. "Gah!"

Fortunately, he quickly realizes that the human doesn't mean him any harm. A smile forms on Shaper's muzzle, and he waves with his free left hand (his right hand is currently holding a magical staff.) "Good morning. It is good to meet you. I'm Shaper Geneson. I'm simply a wanderer who has happened to wander here." He begins to look quite curious indeed as he says, "The Temple of Dreams, you say? Gosh, it looks like such a magnificent place!"

Just then, a thought occurs to Shaper. Wait a minute, he bowed when he saw me. Here, that must be the polite thing to do when greeting somebody. What if the fact that I didn't bow offends him? Oh dear! Hastily, Shaper bows. He is a little too hasty, and ends up falling down as a result. "Oof!" Fortunately, he isn't hurt. Equally fortunately, he doesn't realize how silly it probably looked for him to have been standing there talking, and then suddenly bow so quickly he fell down!

Holding out a hand to help Sharper up Mr Zim only smiles a smile of understanding.

"A pleasure to meet you Geneson-san. It would seem that japanese tradition of bowing during greeting does not agree with you. Do not worry about tradition. There is only 1 rule for those on the grounds and that is to respect the temple as a place of worship and learning."

Once Shaper is standing Mr Zim turns to the temple.

"It is beautiful and to think that it is nearly 2000 years old... but I forget my manners. Please come inside, the tea should be ready."

Gesturing at the main doors they both slide open to reveal a large sitting hall where many round, low to the ground, tables. On the center table sits a tray with the fore-mentioned tea. Turning back to Shaper Mr Zim waits.

Shaper accepts Mr. Zim's help standing up. The 'roo smiles in relief as it becomes clear Mr. Zim has not been offended. "Thank you." Looking at the temple, he says, "Worship and learning are certainly both things I respect. I don't think I'll have any trouble following the 1 rule."

The kangaroo blinks in surprise as the doors into the nearby building slide open after a simple gesture from Mr. Zim. "Wow!" Looking back to Mr. Zim, Shaper speaks with awe in his voice. "You say this place is 2000 years old, and still this beautiful? Plus, the doors opened when you gestured, and you already have the tea on the table? Gosh, there must be alot of magic at work here!"

"I sure am feeling curious right now! I'm also thirsty, so I'll gladly accept your offer of tea. Thank you." Shaper enters the building, hops over to the table where the tea is, and sits down. He sets his staff on the ground near him.

Following Shaper in Mr Zim starts to answer his questions.

"The temple may be old but the magic here is as strong as it was 700 years ago when I last saw it. The entire ground is enchanted to keep the structures clean, the gardens maintained, and the needs of those within served. I have yet to learn the true nature of this place or the name of the one who built it but I hope to some day."

Taking the seat across from Shaper Mr Zim pours a cup for his guest and then one for himself.

"All of your questions and observations have me wondering if you are a sorcerer or scholar. If you are you might find something of intrest in the library or the magic lab. I would be more then happy to show you either or give you a tour around the temple."

Takes a sip of his tea.

Adam wandered slowly along the path, humming a small tune to himself, and looking back forth at the wonderful area he was travelled to now. "This Dream is truly a wonder..." He slowly stopped, looking at the temple before him, "Wow, what a magnificent structure! I gotta see the inside!" With that he quickly jogged up the path and into the interior. His mouth wide in admiration, he scanned the temple, until his eyes settled upon a pair sitting and drinking tea, "Oh, please forgive the intrusion, I thought it was empty..."

Silently, Shaper is glad that the cat arrived when he did. It has given the 'roo more time to think about what to say in reply to what Mr. Zim has said.

Shaper smiles at the cat and says, "It's good to meet you as well, Adam." Though he tends to be a bit shy, Shaper is feeling rather calm right now for some reason.

Shaper realizes he still needs to reply to what Mr. Zim said a minute ago. He takes a sip of tea while he thinks about how to reply to what Mr. Zim has said. Finally, he speaks. "Mr. Zim, you mentioned that it sounded to you like I'm a sorcerer or scholar. Well, I really can't call myself either. I have certain innate magical powers that I was born with, but I have never received any training in magic, and have had few opportunities to practice using my powers. Also, I have a curious streak in me and enjoy wandering and learning new things, but I have never really studied anything formally, other than the basics, such as simple math, reading, and language arts."

Shaper sighs. It appears this is rather difficult for him to talk about. "My powers are rather under-developed, and my knowledge of the world is terribly incomplete." He sighs heavily. "My past has been rather unpleasant, and it's resulted in the present being rather unpleasant for me as well."

"Even the greatest of people had to start somewhere Geneson-san. It took me many decades and even centuries to master my magic and even now there are so many other forms that I know nothing of. As for ones past I believe that the harder our lives have been, the greater we will be. If your life has been as unpleasent as you say then I am certain that you are destined to do great things."

Taking a drink he motions to a small tray that had floated in unnoticed momments earlier. Finishing his first cup of tea Mr Zim refills as the tray floats over and settles in the center of the table. The lid floats off to reveal a platter full of fruits and cheeses.

"As for traing and learning you are more then welcome to do so here in the temple. For learning the library is full of books and scrolls that contain the combind knowledge of the empire and my own travels. For magic and practice the magic labs and alchemy rooms are equiped to handle anything from fire to summoned demons. I will gladly assist if it is within my power to do so."

Shaper chuckles at Adam. "Gee, some people sure are eager to learn!"

When the kangaroo sees the fruits and cheeses, he gets very excited! "Food!" He is so excited, he rudely grabs some fruit at high speed, and starts eating like a slob.

Fortunately, it isn't long before he realizes what he is doing, and slows down. He looks rather embarrassed. "Uh, um, sorry about that!"

Shaper pauses in his eating to reply to what has been said. "I thank you for your generosity, Mr. Zim. I would indeed like a chance to spend some time studying." He grins playfully at Adam as he adds, "Though I can certainly wait while we enjoy this meal." Then Shaper looks back to Mr. Zim and continues. "I would also like to take some time to practice my magic, though the nature of my power requires that another person be with me. Allow me to explain the nature of my innate magic to clarify."

"I have the innate power of temporarily changing others in beneficial ways. I guess you could say, I have the gift of bestowing temporary gifts. I specialize in augmentation, temporarily making a person stronger, faster, more agile, or even making their magic more powerful if they can use magic. If the other person is willing, I can perform other temporary minor changes, such as changing the color of their hair or fur, making them a little taller or shorter, or various other stuff like that. Occassionally I even succeed in a major change, such as granting somebody wings and flight-capability, though it's very rare for me to succeed at a change that great."

Having finished what he wanted to say, Shaper goes back to munching on some fruit and cheese. The food seems to be doing wonders for his mood.

As Adam stand and asks about the library Mr Zim murmurs under his breath and a small ball of blue fire forms. Whispering to it in japanese the small ball flys over to the door on the far side and waits.

"If you would follow the wisp Adam-san. It will lead you to the library and help you find anything you might be looking for. If you need additional help just speak your needs to the air and either myself or the temple will assist any way we can."

Once Adam is away on his information hunt he turns back to Shaper.

"Table manners are a thing of wide debate. I have supped with a poor family and watched as they followed every rule for proper eating and I have supped with the emperor and his family and watched as most of those rules were thrown out the window. Eat how you will, I will not be offended. If you are hungry Geneson-san allow me to bring a proper meal to the table rather then a light platter."

As Shaper talks about the requirements for practicing and what his magic does a smile lights up his face.

"You are a transmuter! I had thought that magic long lost. I am glad to see that it still exists. I would be more then willing to be the one who is experimented on. If you feel uncomfortable with that there is an old spell scroll in one of the labs that would be able to create another suitable test subject. The spell is called shadow clone. It creates a persons exact image, powers and all. I could use it to create another me or another you for the duration of your stay. This way if something goes wrong for any reason, as has happened in too many of my alchemy experiments, only an image is hurt rather then the real person."

Shaper is really glad to see that nothing he has done has offended Mr. Zim. "I thank you for your tolerance, Mr. Zim. I tend to get rather excited when I see fruit. I really like fruit alot!" With anticipation in his voice, he adds, "Oh, and I would indeed like a full meal, please. I hadn't realized how hungry I was getting."

The 'roo then continues to discuss the subject of magic. "Transmuter? Hmmm, I've never heard my type of magic given a name before. Then again, there are so many things I have never heard of before."

Shaper pauses to think about how to reply to Mr. Zim's other offers, then continues. He chuckles a bit as he says the first sentence. "You seem pretty excited by the idea of being experimented on. My magic is relatively safe, and rarely creates problems as long I am careful. Plus, the effects are temporary. If I decide to attempt anything dangerous, a magically created image of you could work, as long as magic affects it the same way it would affect the real person, and it can be 'willing' to have magic affect it. An image of me might not work. My magic has certain limitations. One of them is that I can't use it on myself. I'd say it's possible that this limitation would prevent me from using it on a copy of myself as well."

Shaper decides to expand on what he said about not being able to use his magic on himself. "Overall, my magic seems to center completely on benefitting others. I can't use it on myself, or anybody I see as an enemy. Oh, and it only works if the changes are beneficial to the target, or the target is willing. I don't know why this is. The nature of the magic I was born with is quite a mystery to me."

Another thought hits Shaper, which he immediately shares. "Because my magic is a natural part of me, and I don't cast spells the same way other people do, it can be quite difficult for me to find common ground with other users of magic. I have often wished I could find some overlap between my magic and that of others. Perhaps within this temple, with all of these resources at hand, and with your help, I finally shall. I sure do hope so!"

Murmuring under his breath a door on the left side of the sitting room slides open to reveal the kitchen. Gliding out are 3 silver trays. These trays come to a rest on the table. Each one contains various foods. Rice, fish, soup, salads, fruits, and the likes are all quite plentiful. Sliding Shaper a plate, bowl, spoon, and fork Mr Zim ladles up a bowl of soup and eats a little before speaking.

"Transmutation, the art of changing and adjusting things for various reasons. Where I cam from there were no transmuters left. Their power was so feared by the empire that the emperor had all of them put to death. This was long before I cam and I did my best to preserve their legacy. Although I didn't manage to save much there might be 1 or 2 scrolls that are still legible."

Takes a sip of tea.

"As for being experimented on I always find it facinating to be on the recieving end of benificial magic. I learned most of my healing magic by having it cast on me repeatedly by my instructor after one of our elemental lessons went wrong. ***Chuckles at the though*** As for the shadow clone it is a perfect duplicate right down to thoughts and interests. In such I am sure that my shadow clone would be just as interested to be changed as I am. On the subject of common grounds there are several magics that share trates of transmutation. Perhaps by studing the differences between your art and one of these other 'Shaping' arts we can find your connection."

Re: The Temple of Dreams (Mr Zims Home/ Open to all) new

Shaper looks quite happy when he sees all the food that has been brought out. "Wow, this looks like it will be quite a meal! I know I have already said this phrase quite a few times since arriving, but thank you!"

Shaper begins gathering some food onto his plate, and some soup into the bowl. As he does so, he keeps talking. This kangaroo is rather prone to sudden mood swings, which becomes evident as he suddenly begins to look sad while replying to what Mr. Zim said about transmuters being put to death. "So, in your world, people who used transformation magic were hated and misunderstood. Gosh, that sounds painfully familiar. It's a tough subject for me to talk about, but I would imagine I have probably made you curious, so I will elaborate."

"The world where I was born is called Genesonia. It is a beautiful paradise of a world, where there is never a shortage of delicious food and clean water. All of this is because of the Geneson family. Every kangaroo born into the Geneson family is born with the power of creation. For several centuries and many generations, the Genesons worked to create Genesonia. Now that the world has been created, the currently living Genesons work to keep the world filled with beauty, happiness, and plenty."

The 'roo sighs heavily before continuing. "For some completely unknown reason, I am the only Geneson who wasn't born with the power of creation. Instead, I was born with the power to change others in beneficial ways. My family, especially my father, saw my powers as an insult to their wondrous powers of creation. After a while, they began to see me as an unacceptable disgrace to the Geneson family. My father opened a portal leading away from Genesonia and angrily shoved me through it while the reast of the family watched in approval. That's how I first came to the Napping Cat's Dream."

He still looks sad, but also slightly nostalgic as he adds, "The only one who was against exiling me was my little sister, Weaver. Her and I were such great friends. Gosh, I miss her!"

"Anyway, sorry about bringing up such a sad subject. The conversation sort of just wandered there." Shaper takes a sip of tea and then starts eating.

Sipping his tea as Shaper spoke Mr Zim comments to certain things said.

quote:
So, in your world, people who used transformation magic were hated and misunderstood.

"It was more then that Geneson-san. From what I saw in the records that remained the transmuters were able to do more then change just people. Some of the greater ones could change one thing into something else, like a fear into reality or lead into gold. It was this power that frightened the people. The power to make weapons out of nothing or create an endless army from the fears of but a few men drove the emperor to hunt the transmuters down. I wish I had been alive at that time, I would have tried to save them."

quote:
All of this is because of the Geneson family. Every kangaroo born into the Geneson family is born with the power of creation

For some completely unknown reason, I am the only Geneson who wasn't born with the power of creation. Instead, I was born with the power to change others in beneficial ways. My family, especially my father, saw my powers as an insult to their wondrous powers of creation.

"There is no shame in anger or sadness for what has happened Geneson-san. There is a saying that a strange man once told me. "Your life is yours alone, Rise up and live it." It took me many years to see the truth in those words. We can not let others dictate our path in life we must set our own path ad follow it where it might lead. Your father had no right to take from you what was yours. I would like to see this home world of yours someday, if only to have a long talk with your father about power in diversity. As for your little sister I am certain that you will see her again."

A twinkle enters his eyes as he contemplates something for a momment.

"Since you have told me about your past allow me to return the favor. My world is called earth. I lived in the land of the rising sun, the empire of Japan. It was not an easy place to live but the people had shelter, food, and in most cases prosperity. I lived in the Emperors palace and served as healer, advisor, and sorcerer for 500 years. During those times I often found myself walking a fine web of lies, deception, and tricks and none spun by me. As time passed and my powers grew I started to notice things that I had ignored before. The current Emperor was a frail man and none of his children had lived through child birth. The land was in termoil and the great houses where plotting against everyone. Throughout all this ran a current of tainted magic, Shadow magic. Shadow magic is the magic of the night and demons. By this time the emperor was ill and dying and nothing I did could ease his pain. When he passed on there were none to succeed him and the title fell to one of the great houses. The same house that had tainted the empire with the demon magic."

Takes a sip of tea before continuing.

"As the new emperor consolidated his power and the demons tightened their grip on his soul I carried out my own plans. That night I entered the great library and started the plan to bring about the enivitable downfall of the Emperor. Using shadow magic of my own I took the entire library and hid it in a place where none could reach. I did the same with the magic lab and my alchemy equipment. By the dawns early light I was on the road and traveling. I continued to wander for 400 years correcting the damage done by both man and demon."

Shaper listens intently as Mr. Zim talks about the transmuters in his world. "Gosh, it sounds to me like in your world, the line between creation and transformation tended to get a bit blurry. I wonder what my father would think of that!" Looking off into nowhere for a moment, Shaper says, "I wish I could have talked to a transmuter from your world, as long as it was a good-hearted transmuter. Oh well, perhaps reading a scroll or two written by one of them will still be beneficial to me. I have a feeling that when I have had a chance to do so, it will be yet another thing I will thank you for."

Shaper thinks about another thing Mr. Zim has said. "I really want to rise up and live my own life. You are giving me alot to think about, and I will give it all some thought. My true dream in life is to be a true hero. I want to protect good people from the forces of evil, and help make the world around me a better place. Sometimes, it seems like true heroism will forever be out of my reach, but I'll try to draw determination from the words you have kindly spoken to me. Oh, but I would advise against trying to talk to my father about anything having to do with me. Making peace with my father is one dream I have given up on."

The 'roo is quite interesed by Mr. Zim's tale of his own life. "It sounds to me like your life has been quite complex. There must have been times when you were miserable, but it still must have been extremely fascinating. It certainly sounds to me like you have found true heroism, and accomplished some truly heroic feats. Perhaps your life story can be yet another source of inspiration for me. Oh, but I sure do wish I had more than 900 years to persue true heroism like you. I'm 16, and I consider my life at least 20 percent over."

Shaper goes back to eating while he waits for Mr. Zim to take a turn talking.

"If half the storys were true then they would have been a formidable force. I believe that the difference between transformation and creation in their case was so small as to be indestinguishable. With a being like that as a friend I doubt even your father would have doubted your potential."

quote:
Making peace with my father is one dream I have given up on.

A faint smile creeps up on his face.

"Never give up on even the smallest of your dreams Geneson-san. Perhaps in time you will find that fate not only brings you home but makes you a hero in the eyes of those who need your gift. As for talking to him about you one must first go to your world. I have talked to many starnge beings with stranger ideas. It would be the least I could do for one so dedicated to preserving life."

"A true hero is one who does not seek to be one. A person who sacrifices with no ask for reward. Those who seek glory and fame are doomed to failier when the time comes to test their dedication. That you would use my life as an inspiration is a great honor but I ask that you look within for the inspiration that you need. To have a guide from within is far greater then any guide from without. I did not study magic because my master was a great mage but because I knew that I could do great good with those gifts. In such I drew strength to endure the training on the single image of saving the lives of those I loved."

quote:
Oh, but I sure do wish I had more than 900 years to persue true heroism like you. I'm 16, and I consider my life at least 20 percent over

"In many ways I envy you Geneson-san. Many seek longevity and even immortality without asking why the gods made us mortal to begin with. To live a long time when one was not ment to is not always a gift and to live forever can be the greatest curse one could suffer. To outlive all you love and know that it will be a long time yet, if ever, before you see them again can destroy a mans mind. If I could go back to the momment when I gained my longevity with the knowledge of what it would cost me I would never have taken the potion. I left behind much more then years my young friend. In time you will leave your mark on time in the form of a child or even children, if you haven't already. I will leave no such mark. The price for my centuries of life were many but none so painful as never being able to have children."

Slipping into a silence Mr Zim finishes his soup and tea and sits in contemplation for several minutes before speaking again.

"Forgive me my rambling. There are times when I wish I could change the past. It would seem that this is one of those times. I should focus on the here and now. Helping you and seeing to the needs of both the temple and any in need."

Re: The Temple of Dreams (Mr Zims Home/ Open to all) new

Shaper finishes chewing up and swallowing a bit of fruit, then takes his turn at talking. His tone has been taking on an increasingly thoughtful tone. It seems Mr. Zim's words are having an effect on the kangaroo.

"Gee, could the magic of creation and the magic of transformation be related somehow?" Shaper's eyes widen. "Gee, this is the first time the fact that I was born with powers different from my family has ever even started to make any sense! I'll have to give this some more thought."

"Oh, I'm afraid I have no idea how to get back to Genesonia. You have spoken of fate bringing people home. If I ever see the world I was exiled from again, or you ever end up there, it will most likely be because of fate. Perhaps that's for the best for the time being."

Shaper's tone of voice becomes a bit determined as he replies to what Mr. Zim said about heroism. "I can assure you, my desire to be a true hero has nothing to do with fame or wealth. There are several reasons why I want to be a hero. One, the nature of my powers makes it seem like their purpose must be to help others. Two, I would rather live in a world filled with good than a world filled with evil. Three..." Shaper pauses and sighs. The third reason is difficult for him. "Three, to prove to myself that I can do it. So often, I find myself worried that I'll never really amount to anything. Sometimes, I think I'm downright pathetic. I need to prove to myself that I'm not." Shaper takes a deep breath, then gets to the fourth reason. "Four... Hmmm, this one is hard to explain. I... I just feel like I should be helping to protect good people from the forces of evil. I can't explain the feeling, but I can not deny that it is there. It's strange."

Once again looking thoughtful, Shaper says, "It seems dwelling on the past is something the two of us have in common. Perhaps I should also be focusing on the here and now. I think you may have just given me the greatest bit of advice you have given me so far without even meaning to." The 'roo chuckles, having found that funny.
