GM POST:
Okay people, looking good. Extra points on some creativity I'm seeing. All is going to plan for our fair ladies. Let me know via PM if there is something in particular you'd like to see, and I will see if it can be worked in.
Arriving to the workshop and departure for Flat Top rock is soon to commence. What awaits us this week? Only my mildly insane PG can know for sure.

the butler, a hunchbacked bat with a club foot and the kind of face only a mother bat could love, answered thee door. "yeeeees? Foooollooooow meeeee" He leads the badger into the catheadral sized main lab where Hawkwind is. "Mistressss you half a guest."
Hawkwind steps out from behind a table covered in a wierd mass of burrners wires, tubes, and beakers. She wearing just a white labcoat, wich is buttoned just enough to keep her modest. "May I help you? oh and igor go and make sure any who arive know where to find me, there is some special guests comming... you watch the main door and have your brother egor watch the guest tower, at least one may be flying in."

A bit more geography.
At it's widest, the Quita River has a width of a ~1/2 mile, and is deep enough to accommodate ocean going ships, such as the SS Dreamline. The Port of AnyCity is located ~4 miles down river from the bluffs, in a flatter section of the river basin. In the vacinity of the bluffs, the Quita river narrows, but flows faster as a result. This section of the river has a fair amount of barge traffic, making bridge building a difficult task. The nature of the terrain on Hawkwind's side of the river turned that difficult task into an impossible one.
Ariel spent most of the day after the meeting chasing down the supplies and information she mentioned in the meeting and charged up the batteries in her CASES unit overnight.
As dawn broke, the sprite could be found winging her way through the air over the Quita river navigating towards the landmark of the guest tower.
A short time later, the sprite can be found flitting around the tower, looking for inhabitants - and any humingbird feeders.

Alianna held her pack in front of her as she flew, occasionally consulting landmarks on the ground against the landmarks on the mapped route she had tried to memorize. She didn't need them for very long, though. Soon enough she could see the tower Hawkwind had described looming over the forest.
A little while later, she landed in front of what she suspected was the main door, immediately setting her pack down to rest her arms, which felt like they had been stretched at least two inches. She'd tried her best to pack as light as possible, but it had still ended up being heavier than she would have liked.
She stood there, admiring Hawkwind's home and waiting for someone to greet her.

The badger just nods, looking around a bit suspiciously, as if the shadows themselves may leap out at him. "Mistress Lorenzo sent me with the supplies she would need, said I was to talk to a Miss Hawkwind and leave the supplies with her? I was just going to leave the cart outside, since she paid for it and all."
He offers forth a manifest, obviously looking to make a rather quick exit.
Meanwhile, in the skies above:
Ramona began to circle lower, waving and yelling to Alianna, "Hello down there! Anybody else arrive yet?" If anyone was familiar with gliding or flying, it was fairly obvious she was about to make a rather uncomfortable landing.
Ariel would be arriving last, probably just in time to see and hear the unfolding 'whoah!*crash*' and the tumbling thereafter. A somewhat loud "thud" and associated noises occured at the tower door, possibly getting others attention.
"Oww."

The hunchbacked bat Egor opens the door wincing at Romana's landing. Cor bimey mate I an't seen a landing like that since me brother first learnt te fly. Welcome to mistress Hawkwinds gaff Gov. She's a waitin in the lab follow me." He leads the way down the stairs with an odd shuffling gate that looks combersome even for a bat.
Meanwhile in the lab Hawkwind looks over the list and nods. "Just park the wagon in the cortyard and it will be fine. the woods should be safe now but i can send eather Egor or Igor with you if you like."
|
|
|
|
|
|
"I haven't seen any one else, yet," she called up to Romana in response to her question. Watching her come in for a landing, Alianna winced, sure she was going to be witness to something painful. A moment later, her fears were confirmed when the woman crashed into the door, with Alianna barely grabbing her bag and jumping out of the way.
When Romana stopped moving, Alianna walked over to her. "Are you alright?" she asked.

The sounds of the crash catch the ears of the sprite, who flits over to sounds of the accident. Depending on the timing, she might just miss getting in the door before it closes. If she does miss, she'll look for an open window. Otherwise, she'll flit in and follow the rest of the group down to the lab.

The badger just nods, happy to make his way out. "That wont be neccesary. Nuthin' in the forest scares me." He simply moves the cart as requested, and makes a rather fast retreat after getting out of the area. "That woman must be crazy..." He says, just out of earshot, "Dragon or not..."
Romana starts getting up, shaking herself off. "I'm okay, I'm okay. I'm getting used to bad landings. Still can't get them quite right." She smiles to Alianna. Looking over at the bat, and smirking at the flitting sprite whizzing past them all to the inside, she nods. "Let's get down there and get on the road. Today should be decent wheather, so the more distance we can get the better."
The odd thing about Romana, which an astute observer may notice, is that other than a bit of dirt on her clothes, she is none the worse for wear. Not a scratch nor bruise has landed on this otherwise delicate looking creature.

GM POST
Alright people, seeing some good interaction here. A little comedy, a little intrigue, and some nice posting.
On another note, I apologize for the haphazard posting on my end. A few problem have cropped up, but by all accounts I should be able to keep up at least once a week. If anyone desires to post more than that, it is fine, so long as it is just normal IC interaction.
Once again, if there are any questions, comments, complaints, or compliments, feel free to PM me with anything.
For now though, we await the next episode of "Creating an Artifact"

"Landings are the trickiest part of flying," Alianna agreed, thinking back to all the times she'd crashed and burned (sometimes literally) when she was learning. Noticing that Romana wasn't even scratched, she continued, "At least you weren't hurt."
She followed everyone inside the castle, not sure if she was very comfortable with going underground. There were very few escape routes underground and her training told her that that was a bad situation to be in. Though she knew she was being paranoid, she hoped that they wouldn't stay down there too long.

((I'd kinda been waiting for Hawkwind to update, so I don't exactly have much to say.))
The sprite does a backflip or two as she flits down the stairwell over the shoulders of the rest of the group. She does take a passing glance at Egor's wing structure, mentality comparing it with the structure that the Theataur has for his wings. Beyond this, she is taking in her surroundings.

(sorry for the lateness of the post but i'm about 5 miles from the nearest library. and for the moment it's hard to get there.)
Egor leads them to the lab where there is manny herbs brewing in the strange glass works. six tables it seems is dedicated to a maze of beakers on burners with interlaceing tubes of many diffrent shapes sizes and configurations. All thies tubes lead to a single vial where ocasionaly a drop of liquid shimmering in it's own light like green fire drops into it.
"Oi Gov, yer guests are 'ere."
"Ok egor, I'll be right there. Go fetch Igor and meet me back here."
Hawkwind teps out wearing an outfit that leaves little to the imagination. it's basicly a leather buster(sp?) that has been reinforced with silver plates, the leather is decorated arcane rune structures of elemental protection and the silver with rune againced the more physical dangers. about her waist is what apears to be a broad belt with a broad leanth of leather fore and aft for modesty, both inscribed the same as the buster.
"Almost ready to go." She walks over and sets a new vile to catch the emerald liquid, corking the now full one. At this point both bats enter and igor says "Yeeees Missstreeessss...." Hawk turns towards them. "While i'm gone moniter the condencer and change the vials as they fill. If the sap runs out DON'T forget to turn off the burners. other than that your on your own to do as you like.... BUT no parties." The two bats look at each other and grin. their previous master never gave vacations and they desided that they would make the best of it while they could. Turning to her backpack which looked big enough to have carried the three other people in it with room to spare. She opens an iron bound wooden box to reveal 5 other vials of the glowing green liquid laying well cushened in the plush velvet lining. (the box is atached to the side and each vial is about the size of 32 oz can) straped to the top of the backpack is a rather scarry looking iron sword. Slinging the backpack onto her shoulders she grins. "Ok I'm ready."

Romana just chuckles at Alianna "Yeah, seems I'm what my boss calls 'dragontough', whatever that means. You ready for whatever's ahead?" She follows the bat down, noting the sprites curioscity about the bats wing, she spreads her own just slightly, in case she was curious as well.
She lets out a whistle of appreciation at the surroundings in the basement, nodding as she takes things in. "One of these days, if I ever get rich, I will have to build a lab like this." When Hawkwind steps out, she stays somewhat quiet, though she also seems to be blushing a bit at Hawks chosen armor.
"Everybody ready? We will have to take the ground from here on out, as I can not fly with the cart in tow, and I'd rather not risk anything falling off the cart anyways." She smiled, it was really happening, and the adventure was just begining.

Okay folks, good posts. Lateness happens and I think we can understand and forgive on that one. I like what I'm seeing around, rather ceative and all, and perhaps more than a bit revealing. ~_^
Once again, I'd appreciate a bit of feedback, weather it be by participants or just watchers. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
Keep up the good work folks!

Ariel may not be a bull in a china shop (she knows better than to touch unknown alchemical apparati), but the maze of pipes is intriguing to her, as she flits around the tables, trying to get a feel for what's going on. It may take a call or two to distract her from them (or a few minutes of investigation), but she will return to the group as it gathers.
"I did track down some radios I could borrow for a few days, so we'll be able to communicate more easily if we happen to get separated. Shall I hand them out now?"

Alianna walked carefully around the lab, examining the lab curiously, but keeping her distance for fear that she'd break something. The equipment looked very delicate, but she was curious as to what it was used for. Still, she was eager to get going so she decided to leave the questions for another time.
"I'm ready whenever you'd like to go," Alianna responded, "Though I'm afraid that I didn't bring anything other than your basic camping gear."

Hawkwind smiles warmly to Romana as she leads the way to the cart, her enormouse pack slung over one shoulder as if it weighed little more than Romana. "Ok Romana dear, you'll have to lead the way from here. This is your expadition after all." She reaches out to lightly ruffle The young dragon lady's hair playfully.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Romana leads the way out. "I braught enough supplies just in case. Luckily I'm strong enough to pull this thing... Least once I get it going." She acks, flailing almost cutely as her hair is ruffled by Hawkwind.
"It should be a good idea to hand them out now. Keep them off until we need them though, conserving batteries and all." She goes ot thr front of the cart, and with a slight 'Herk!' of effort, she begins to move the laden cart. "It should only take a few days or so, and then the prep work for the ritual."
She begins to lead the way out towards the north at first, smiling at everyone. "So, if I might be so bold as to ask, what is it that made each of you want to come along?"
|
|
|
|
|
|
"Several reasons....
1. because you needed my help and...
2. you try teaching 125 students magic and achemy and see if you don't need some time away." She hussles Romana out of the way so she can take over pulling the cart via a rope harnes. Motianing her and the others to get on the seat before starting off. "Better if i do this, you'll need your streanth when we get there and this is an easy task for me."

The sprite reaches back into her backpack and retrieves the radios, one by one. The radios are similar in size to handheld FRS radios, but have a longer range and better reliability. Once the radios are handed out, she shows how to turn them on and off, and how to use them.
Although Hawkwind gestures for the rest of the group to take a seat, the sprite flits along side, keeping a light watch out for possible disturbances in her elements.
The sprite waits a minute when asked why she joined the adventure, before responding. "I'm in a bit of a down time at NCPAC, and this gave me a chance to spend a little time away from the complex. I'm not needed to run a follow spot for 12 Angry Jurors, and the crew setting up the lighting for Draconis is running ahead of schedule."

|
"Thank you," Alianna says as Ariel hands her a radio. She's used radios before, but made sure to pay attention when Ariel told her how to work these. Afterward, she slipped it into a side pocket on her backpack.
Alianna shrugged at Romana's question. "There really wasn't anything else going on and this sounded like it might be fun. I'm really not a big fan of sitting around my apartment. Not to mention, well, I'm a bit broke, so I'm really killing two birds with one stone."
|
|
|
|
|
|
Romana took a seat as she listened to everyone and their reasons. She definately smiled at Hawkwind when she took the "reins" as it were. She slipped the radio into a hip pack and nodded.
Looking to Hawkwind she giggles a little "I guess it's true what they say. You are definately a workhorse. I do appreciate the help." She looked towards the flitting sprite and nods, "So you work in the theater? That must be interesting. I'll have to drop in sometime and watch a show. It has been too long."
Turning her attention to Alliana, she nods "Don't worry about the being broke bit. I totally understand and have been there before. I was a college student, working my way through. As for work in general... After this I may need an assistant, so we can look into that if you are interested?"
|
|
|

The sprite nods in response to the question about theater. "Been involved in it with the 'taur since before I arrived in the dream."

The theater huh sounds nice, not many theaters though that i can visite... but ah well. personaly i think the outdoor kind is best but thats just me. And if you like i can find room for you on my teaching staff. part time if your going to be working for Romana." she moves at a steady pace which is still probly faster than if Romana had been pulling mostly due to Hawks longer legs.
