Poets' MultiVerse Cafe (Um, the cafe fell apart...)
      #443784 - Fri Jan 23 2004 12:41 AM

The Poets' Multiverse Cafe has collapsed on itself due to hazerdious actions of Quai and Shaper. As to when the place will be rebuilt, I have no idea. If the place opens back up in the future, I'll let you guys know.

As for people who want to read the entire thread, please read the descrip on what the cafe once looked like. However keep in mind that it's now in a pile of rubble and destruction.

Towards the better part of a reachible 'middle of nowhere', this quaint cross between a beatniks hangout and an oriental teahouse is north of Sovan's House.. yet slightly south-east of Kira's House.

The outside is pretty much a mix of parrieland and desert. With perhaps a tree spotting one or two places. Near the PMC is a specific large old tree, formally known as 'Ye Olde Oak Tree'. Which many a poet tend to hang around in moments of artistic hardship. A long road winds up from other locations and develops in the end as a parking lot. The building being the only thing that lies ahead.

Poets' Multiverse Cafe looks, as already stated, like a Japanese teahouse and a Beatnik's stage thrown together into one. While the outside appearence looks moderately oriental - with a sweeping red-tiled roof and light brown outside walls with a regular long sliding door - there is a large electric sign above the door that blinks with different colored letters "Poets' Multiverse Cafe, All Those Of Artistic Talent Welcome".

Once inside, the setting remains a mix of oriental and jazz. On one side there's a long bar with booths lining the wall and a handful of small steel tables (about 2 tall chairs per table, maybe one could be able to add a third if the avatar isn't too large). Towards the back is a stage with random lekos and fresnels lighting it up. And near the doorway is a small artshop where one is able to buy paper and other needed tools for their creative minds to let loose upon. There is a also a medium-sized statue of buddah behind the bar in plain view - which is only in Quai's taste.

On the menus splayed upon the various tables in the room there is not only mixed drinks of alcohal, but sake as well. Not to mention the foods Quai can make. Mainly ramen and soup, are also there.

Quaidis and, with a humorous twist of fate, Amethyst own this cafe. Though presently, Ame isn't here. Most likely caught up with fighting demons and couldn't get here on time.

If you've written poems in TheDream, why not come here and read them upon the stage to everyone in the room? Or perhaps you just need a place to kick back and relax. Either way, please feel free to visit anytime

Starting the thread here -

The cougarman, however, is always attentive. At this moment he's behind the bar drying off a glass with a.. no, nevermind. Soon after this was typed he dropped it with a crash - which in turn hurt his foot.. and in stumbling for a bandaid he tripped over a wire that just so happened to be there to crash over the counter, hitting a barstool pretty hard, and eventually ended up crashing onto the ground. Whimpered before soon afterwards muttering something about bad karma.

(ooc note - please post your poems and such IC. OOC posting of art is in Create)

Kikira stood outside the cafe for a moment, admiring the surroundings and deciding whether or not she should enter. Clasping her hands behind her head, she nodded decisively and walked slowly into the cafe...

...Just in time to see Quaidis' little tumble.

With a small "meep" of surprise. The cat demon jogged over to the bar, crouching onto a stool so she could get a look over the bar-top.

"Ah! Uhm...Are you alright, sir?" Her cat tail swayed slowly behind her as she eyed the cougar with concern.

Nathin sees it all happen from right outside on his way coming in. He would have gone in all the way, but he didn't really enjoy being around clumsy people, not to mention clumsy cougarmen, no offence.

When he sees Kikira go and offer him help, he decides that there'd be no harm in helping, too, since a beautiful girl always countered bad karma.

"Need some help, sir?"

Quaidis, in the meantime of getting up (with help of Kikira if she assisted in his standing), cries out something along the lines of bad karma, how this always happens, and an extra apology if he offended her. Once up and leaning heavily on the bar counter, he looked over to Nath and slowly took his features in...

Planting paws firmly upon the ground, he turned dramatically, and pointed with two fingers at the other male cat anthro, "You!" before lowering hand and tilting head.. "you aren't sick or anything are you? Your complection is a little.. green?"

Bowing politely to Kakira - in turn slamming his head on the bar counter temporarily.. before lifting it and innocently rubbing forehead with an 'ow' - the cougar took his place back behind the bar counter and looked to the two customers.. "you wouldn't be interested in any tea or anything.." he looks to Nath.. "Soup maybe? It'll be on the house.." of course, he says the last part with a bit of worry...

Kikira helps up the Cougar, smiling slightly at him.

"Bad karma, ne? What a drag..."

She turned to Nathin when he spoke.

"Oh, Hi! ... You look familiar ... I think I've met you before." She says with a grin.

She turns back to Quaidis and winces, stifling a giggle as his head smacks painfully onto the counter. She bows back politely, smiling.

She giggles lightly, realizing that Quaidis has confused Nathins greenish fur color for a sickened tinge.

"Uh... I don't think I'm sick..." Nathin says, putting a hand on his head to see if he felt hot, "Oh! You're reffering to the green, right? Nah, I'm not sick, just naturally green. Takes quite a few people by surprise."

He smiles, and acknowledges Kikira, "Maybe we've met. I dunno, this place is pretty big. It could've been some other green cat."

He smiles, and offers Kikira a hand, "I'm Nathin."

Bliked, grinned.. Though about the green fur thing... Gets overall confused.. Then - hitting bandaged fist against gloved hand - concludes that Nath must be like those albino felines he's heard of. Cept, a different color... Nods to himself ~ Quaidis, you are a smart one. Before eventually concluding that these are 2 new people to the place and he needs to invite them accordingly.

"Ah, btw." QuaiQuai mumbled out nerviously at first, looking around. Eventually he waves he hand out to the open... "this is the Poets' MultiVerse Cafe.... er.." It was clear he was getting nervious, but continued on. Waves his hand to the small stage.. "You're welcome to read or write poetry and songs here and read them on the stage to everyone, er.. when they get here, that is..." Now he's getting a firmer grasp on his into.. "or.." he waves his hands to the tables.. "if you aren't a poet, you're welcome to sit and, um, enjoy this place as a regular cafe. >< maybe enjoy some tea?" Finally, he waves his shaking hand to the rack of wines and bottles behind the counter. Thurrowly, of course, slamming his hand into them and taking a few bottles off it with a handful of Crashes. Gasps, takes the handrag from the bar (lot of good that would do) while mumbling how everything was okay and it was bad karma. Before slipping on the spilt liquid and going butt-first into the glass.

Nathin covered his eyes as the whole thing happened, and when teh commotion stopped, he overed Quaidis a hand and a towel.

"I know how bad karma is, sir. I've expirienced it myself. Though," he added with a small chuckle, "Mine hasn;t been quite as bad as yours."

He smiled, adding, "So I can read poetry here? Sounds fun."

Treading over the open prarries, a siamese cat woman approached the lone structure. Her hair tied back with chopsticks and her body clothed in the fine purple kimono she often wore, she held a kasa umbrella above her to shade her head (that is, if the sun is even out ). She looked the establishment over and nodded in approval. Certainly this was the cafe that she had heard about. Its architecture was quite welcoming to a cat of Nihon such as her. She arrived at the shoji doorway and slid it aside, folding her kasa, bowing and removing her geta sandles before entering. She was surprised to see such an influence of western culture mixed into its structure. Still, it turned out to be a very pleasing combination, something accepting to both mores. It seems there was little business at the moment. Only two cat furries were at the bar...and they didn't look old enough for alcohol...where was the owner of this place anyway? It seemed the two were looking over the bar at something...

"Excuse me," called Mika to the two, "this place is open, right?"

Hmmmmm.... it's interesting all right. And tempting. But would I be allowed?

Lisa stood a little ways outside the door to the cafe. Yesterday she had only vaguely wanted to come in, but today was a different story and she was seriously considering it. She had a little poetry, and some stories, and even a black beret, which she was wearing at the moment instead of her usual bucket hat. But being a PG, an avatar created solely for the purpose of making out-of-character actions become in-character actions, she couldn't help wondering whether reading her poetry here would be against the rules.

But none of my other avatars are artistically gifted in the least, and I really don't want to make a new one just so he could take the credit for MY poem, she thought. What to do? I mean, the owner of this thread is Psychedelic, for crying out loud. However, even she didn't know what relevance that fact bore.

Nathin milked at Mika, saying, "I think this place is opened, that is, if the owner is good enough to run it..." He leaned over, whispering in her ear, "He's had a bit of bad karma. Well, actually, quite a lot."

As he's doing this, he spots Lisa outside, and meanders over towards to door. He slid it opened, and invited her in, "It's nice to see someone who's not a cat coming anywhere close to here!" he said to her.

This bright green blur
of a cat with hair of blue
A black tipped tail
A scar of pink hue

Bitten by the girly bug
He catches them with ease
he'd prefer a bit of catnip
He goes weak in the knees

Attracting all the females
They fawn at his side
Losing them is not so easy
He tries to run and hide

Sabby follows him 'round
Shadow black, one foot tall
Abnormally large ears
Three tails, she will not fall

Attempting to be cool
His heart is sweet and true
Some would say he tries too much
But that is up to you

Lover of animals
Attracter of souls
the cutest little kitty
of a thousand different roles

An anthro cat
For all to see
a fine not-so-feathered friend
who goes by Nathin Keiroshi

Sanku so much, Wolfie! It is so pretty! =^.^= And the perfectness is awesome!

Kikira nodded to Nathin in greeting and then turned back toward the bar, listening to Quaidis speak and the watching as he tumbled about, wincing atthe sound of breaking glass. She jumped up again as he fell, her ears flattening in a grimace as she realized he had fallen onto glass. She'd help him up if he needed help.

She was about to order some tea when another cat anthro entered the poetry-cafe/bar. She turned her head to look, hoping Quaidis would be well enough to serve the customers who were coming in. He seemed to be having quite a bit of trouble so far, and already another customer had entered behind the siamese-kitty.

She turned her head back to the cougar and smiled softly,

"Do you need some help...maybe?"

from the doorway, one could see a bandaged hand reaching up behing the barcounter, twitching a few times.. then lowering again. For a while he was just stunned. But after Kakira spoke her last bit of words for help, he reaches up again and gently took her hand.

Slowly got up and gave this serious look to Kikira. Before eventually breaking it with the nervious words, "Are... are you serious? I could - " he winced, glanced back at this glass shard - practically half a bottle - that was most painfully on his rear end. Glowered at it for a moment, his ears twitching. Before, with gritted teeth, pulling it out.

Continued back to Kikira, tossing the bottle aside with a crash... "OO I could do with some help."

Suddenly noticing the new customers like a cat notices an owner in the room after doing something bad, Quai called out to them.. "Feel free to take a table or use the stage or shop" Pauses to get some tea in the kitchen - coming back with a full pitcher of it.

Suddenly realizes he's forgetting something with a large exclimation point. 'Oh!" he smiled to Mika, "And welcome to the Poets' Multiverse Caf -" he raises the wrong hand to wave, the pot of tea spills on him slightly. He stops to see that miraculously he was still holding it. Slowly lowers hand and breaths a sigh of relief...

Once that calamedy was prevented, he turned to walk back to Kikira, in turn slipping on the previous mess of glass of wine. Falling right back over, and taking the entire pot of scolding hot tea with him.. A YAOWL! of sorts follows..

But 2 second later he's back up, sizzling and pointy, calling to everyone. "Don't worry! I'm fine! Bad karma!" XP

Mika winced upon seeing Quaidis's fall, and was relieved to see him back on his feet so soon. She nodded to the strange green cat furry, "Bad Karma indeed..." Apparently the cafe was open, though, so Mika decided to set her umbrella by a seat and approach the bar. "Hello, sir. Are you alright? That looks like it really hurts..." started Mika. "I noticed the sign in the front, welcoming those with artistic talent, I was wondering if I could use your stage for a bit?" Mika wanted a bit of practice on the stage before the audience grew, she didn't want to embaress herself in case she made mistakes. It had been a long while since she performed her 'Japanese Fan Dance'.

Coming though the door behind one of the other, a small and rather unimpressive finch flies into the building. Well, it’s a pitch black finch, which is kind of unusual, but in the Dream who would notice. Once in, it flies across the room, lands on one of the tables in the back, and the proceeds to... well act like a bird. Look about, hop a little bit on the table top, look about again. That sort of thing. Nothing really of note...

Meanwhile, opposite of one of the sides of the café opposite the sun, a half dragon steps out of... well almost nothing really, unless you count a few wisps of shadow that appeared right before he did. Walking from the moment he just appeared to appear out of nowhere, the half-dragon walks purposefully around the building to the front of the café and waits quietly for Lisa to decide if she wants to walk in or not. Well... mostly waits.

Shad, when I asked to you to search for food and water, this is not quite what I had in mind,” Azrim, the halfdragon, thinks to his familiar.
In the middle of this tundra? Besides, it’s been forever since we sat down and ate something in an actually building,” Shad thought back.
There’s a reason for that.
Well, you're just going to come into and get me then.
...
Az, it’s not like you can’t afford it. Just get a quick meal and I’ll be happy.
Fine, but you better behave this time. And NO alcohol.

Lisa decides quickly that it would not be a good idea to hug Nathin, so she doesn't. "Nathin, buddy, pal, never technically met me! Great to see you too. In person," she adds, as she has not only seen him in pictures but drawn him as well. However long ago.

"Incidentally," she continues, not giving him time to respond, "do you have any idea if PGs are allowed in here? I wasn't sure."

She hasn't noticed Azrim or Shad.

One day she just stopped typing, and a grin spread across her face as she suddenly realized how much fun it was to talk about herself in the third person.

Blinked distractedly at all the activity that the room seemed to have exploded in. And Flintch only on instinct when the finch flies in, around the room, and lands on a few tables in back. It wasn't that he was afraid of small innocent birds. Was just terrified it came to set off more bad luck.

Anyway, he came back to attention of Mika to see her standing there after her important question. Turned completely to her, stuttered for a bit.. Before finally just closing his eyes. Took a deep breath, held it.. Let it go, and opened eyes grinning to the miko-like kitty. " Sure, you're welcome to use the stage any time you wish. Er, long as someone else isn't.. " he looked over to see noone there, than nodded back to her.

Watched the human enter in this throng of cat anthro's, sees the buzzling activity, notices a bird still there.. And sense that there are more outside.. Gave a pleading look to Kikira for help..

Mika bowed respectfully to the bartending owner Quaidis, saying, "Thank you, good sir." Before going to the stage, though, she turned to ask him one more question, "I wonder, do you know of someone who may be able to play a bamboo flute (takebue) or perhaps even the koto (13-stringed instrument)? If not, I could always use someone to hit a hand drum (tsuzumi) for me to keep a beat." Of course Quaidis could always supply electronic music if the cafe was capable...but Mika did not know of such things...

Kikira looks over at Mika with a smile and a nod, and then listens and waits as her and Quaidis converse briefly about the stage availability. When they are done talking, the cat-demon turns her emerald gaze back to the bar-tender

"I'd be glad to help you out." She smiles softly at the unfortunate cougar, anthro. "Just, tell me what you want me to do and I'll try my best to do it. I'm....not very good with....the modern stuff....but I can serve drinks and such!"

Quai nodded hastily to Mika, Jumping over the counter to get the set of bongodrums that just so happened to be near the stage. This is where his feline ears hear out the only human in the room ask a question about PG's being allowed. Calls out to them in midjump even after they got an answer from Nathin "As long as that PG Is In Charactaaaaahhhh!" And, of course, gets his foot caught on the counter midjump. Falls facefirst into the floor on the other end of the bar. Twitches for a bit before getting up, crying out something about bad karma and that he's alright..

Slowly getting up, he pointed with limp shoulders at the bongo drums near the stage.. calling out to anyone in a voice pronounced enough for everyone in the room to hear. "Can someone play those drums for this nice female feline here (talking about Mika)" Raises his head to expose the large bump on his forehead.. "I'll probably break them.. and.. I gotta make some ramen..."

With that, he trudged slowly around the bar and went into the kitchen.. To, well, make ramen. Of course, forgetting to get the cash from Lisa.

"You don't need to buy me anything," Nathin says, shrugging, "I'm not that hungry, plus I just ate yesterday."

Nathin was ready to get an odd stare as a responce to that, seeing as he got that whenever people wanted him to eat something and he replied in that way.

Mika gasped as Quaidis's plummets to the floor. She bends to his side saying, "Oh my, are you all right?" Quaidis gets up and mumbles something about bad karma, which Mika could only offer a sympathetic look. She followed his fingers to the stage where a set of bongo drums rested. She looked around expectantly as Quaidis asked for a volunteer musician from the room, hoping that someone would help her practice her dance...

Shaper happens to be wandering through the prarrie/desert land. Still this odd feeling of needing to find something compels me to wander, and still I have no idea what I'm supposed to find. I can only hope my luck doesn't finally run out! So very often I find myself wandering through places I shouldn't go to. Why? Why do I keep listening to that strange feeling that keeps putting me in danger?

He is beginning to get very hungry. He knows that if he doesn't get something to eat soon, his stomach will begin growling, and he will think he hears an invisible monster growling. Not wanting to have that happen, the kangaroo begins searching for food. I really should have brought more food with me! Now I'm all out, and what are the odds I'll find anything in a place like this?

To his great surprise, he stumbles upon an oak tree with some sort of road leading up from it. To his even greater surprise, his sees some sort of building at the end of that road. Hoping to find food and a chance to rest, he hops toward the building while tightly clutching the staff he carries in his right paw.

When he gets close, he hears some crashing, and hears some voices talking inside. Huh? What are they talking about? A look of great shock comes onto Shaper's face as he realizes something. Oh my gosh, did I hear somebody say they ate yesterday, and imply that they won't be eating today? Dear me, how could anybody stand to eat so infequently? Is he insane?

Shaper reads the sign in front of the odd building. Then, trembling nervously, he hops on into the Poets' Multiverse Cafe. I have a little talent as a poet, I hope I'll be welcome here!
