Last Updated (MM/DD/YY):
11/17/03 - Rehashed entire profile.
Quick Links:
Beliefs - "What aspects of reality is he altering today?"
Alternate Versions - "Xenix, now available in more than just vanilla."
Pictures - "People actually draw this guy? o_O"
Name:
Xenix (Pronounced "ZEE-nicks")
Age:
19 - Born 3/11/1984
Gender:
Male
Species:
Human
Race:
Caucasian
Height:
5'11" (180.3 cm)
Weight:
138 lbs (62.6 kg)
Build:
Lean, edging towards skinny.
Skin Color:
Healthy flesh tone, slightly tanned.
Hair Color:
Dirty Blonde, almost the color of sand and ash blended together, or of partially damp sand. Cut rather short to keep it out of his eyes and usually combed with a part on the left.
Eye Color:
Blue-gray, a thin ring of tan right around the pupil.
Clothing:
Black walking-sandals with top and heel straps. Loose, deep-pocketed khaki pants that fall to just cover his ankles, held up with a black belt. An untucked cinder gray T-shirt with the words, "That was Zen. This is Tao. Confucian?" written on the front in yellow letters. A long-sleeved plaid shirt is worn unbuttoned and untucked over the T-shirt. The plaid is primarily forest green and navy blue, with white and beige lines.
Occupation:
Technical Theatre Major.
Accessories:
Watch worn on his left wrist. Celtic knot ring with a malachite inset on his right index finger. Celtic knot ring with a rectangular face on his right ring finger. His pockets hold a variety of semi-useful items, including: a multi-tool, comb, and pencil. An addition since entering the Dream has been a journey pack, which contains an assortment of tools and supplies necessary for living on one's own in the wilds of the NCD, such as an iron frying pan, other cooking utensils, camping equipment, etc.
Pets:
None
Abilities/Skills & Power Level:
His travels in the Dream have given him a decent ability to defend himself with his frying pan, as well as physically tone him. The result is just a fitter human body. Xenix has acquired a decent understanding of his own mind, enabling him to build mental defenses and other such constructions inside his mind. He has no telepathy of his own, but he can manipulate such if his mind is connected to it.
Special Effects:
Xenix was pulled into the Dream through his own personal dream-avatar, which was, itself, the product of his his mind's imagination and belief. That avatar was belief incarnate, its purpose being to act as a protective buffer for Xenix's mind while while he dreamt. The sudden, shocking transition into the Napping Cat's Dream melded human and avatar into a single being, with the avatar in the ascendant. However, Player Gods are typically very powerful beings, and some of that seeps out through the avatar. This has two main effects:

• Belief: Xenix is possessed of an immense self-assurance, which saturates and sustains his existence within the Dream. This self-assurance is so potent as to be capable of physically altering Xenix's existence, should he truly believe that such alterations actually exist. A list of his Beliefs is shown below. These beliefs are not conscious, and they take place without his knowledge. All Xenix knows is that he believes something that is true. The fact that his belief is what makes that thing true has never even entered his mind. Thus, every one of his beliefs must be grounded in some reasonable form of logic. (i.e. "Well, cold iron works against faeries and shamanistic-type magic, so this iron frying pan should certainly protect me from voodoo.")

• One Self, Many Faces: Xenix is both Player God and Avatar at the same time. Now, one Player God typically has multiple Avatars, and this one is no exception. To discuss Xenix's unique nature in this department, imagine a hollow polyhedron with a unidirectional light source in the center. This geometrical figure has a finite, but very large, number of sides, each of which is a slightly different color. The polyhedron may spin around the light source, which has a narrow enough focus that only one of the polyhedron's sides can be lit up at any given moment. Now, each side (or facet, as the terms are used interchangeably) represents an alternate 'Xenix'. With enough stress, or properly-applied force, the polyhedron might be moved, which would change Xenix from his normal state of being into an Alternate Version.
Weaknesses:
Xenix is a human. Despite his various beliefs, trinkets, and other such advantages, he is still a human. Putting a bullet through his head will most certainly kill him. Also, his beliefs cannot be turned on or off at will, so creating a 100% believable illusion that a bullet has been put through his head is very likely to kill him. This works both ways, however, so if you put a completely believable illusion of a harmless puppy onto a vicious monster and order it to attack Xenix, he will remain unharmed as a harmless puppy can't be a vicious monster. (In all likelihood, the monster would become a puppy.)
Xenix Believes...
  • ...that his over-shirt is very warm. If he buttons it up, the temperature directly around his body won't drop below approximately 60° F except in cases of extreme cold. (-200°F or lower)
  • ...that he is tough and has great endurance. While this deadens a lot of the pain and weariness that he would otherwise feel, it does not actually keep his body from being damaged. (In fact, he can do a lot more damage to himself because he may not realize exactly how far he's pushed himself.)
  • ...that he will always have fruit of some kind in his pockets. Xenix is always picking fruit and pocketing it for later consumption, and this allows him to produce fruit (no more than three pieces per hour, with a maximum of ten pieces per day) from a pocket or other container, providing that he has had said container in his possession for at least a day.
  • ...that he knows where he is. Despite being completely inaccurate, being in the Dream has granted him a mental compass, map, and a limited ability to sense things around him (on the condition that they are rather large things). This ability also confers a limited path-finding ability (GM controlled) and its overall power is inversely proportional to the number of people Xenix is traveling with.
  • ...that he is capable of doing great things in time of need. Basically, this gives him meta-human speed, strength, reaction times, etc. It pushes his body to the very peak of performance, and takes a requisite toll on his body.
  • ...that the little magical trinkets he invariably ends up with do more than they actually do. In reality, they're very tiny spells, almost beneath notice, but he believes that they are much more powerful than that. (The con man who keeps selling these things to Xenix is understandably confused about the whole situation.)
  • ...that his cold iron frying pan can, and will, disrupt some forms of magic. Usually anything that looks "ritualistic", "druidic", or anything that works through sympathetic magic.
Description of Personality:
Often described as shy or a loner, he really just never saw the need to go out of his way to meet people. He kept to himself and anybody that cared to could come to him. He found that the people he felt worth knowing were those who would understand his stance and seek him out themselves. Wether this opinion was right or not, he tended to have few friends, and those he did have usually shared one or more interest with him.

He's rather laid back and likes to just sit back at times and just watch life flow by, letting it pull him where it will. His out-of-the-way mentality usually allows him to look at the same scene through three or four different perspectives. That mentality makes him more than a little unsettled in the presence of strong emotions (his or other people's), so he tries to avoid such situations whenever possible. That behavior, along with a dreadfully short attention span has resulted in others typically thinking him insensitive, in the past.

He has a dislike for cities and heavily urbanized areas. He likes the benefits of modern technology and acknowledges that cities are often necessary, but he just can't bring himself to live or spend large amounts of time in one of them, always claiming that they 'feel artificial' to him.
Brief History:
He was born and raised in a suburb, grew up in modern America, and eventually went off to college. Not much of any great importance ever happened in his life. His parents made enough money and were frugal enough to put away money for his future, so he never had any life-or-death struggles against debt and payments of any kind, although he did work to make some spending cash. After graduating high school, he went off to attend a rural college in Farmville, VA because it was the only college that offered his Major and was also small enough to not feel like a city. One night, he went to sleep and dreamt a little deeper than before. All of his experiences in the Napping Cat's Dream take place over the span of that one night.

Name: Xenix of Sazal
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Human
Height: 5'11" (180.3 cm)
Weight: 140 lbs (63.5kg)
Build: While he'd never be mistaken for a weightlifter, years living in a port city have given him a lean form, muscled and calloused.
Skin Color: Deeply tanned.
Hair Color: Pale blonde, almost to the point of being white. Its length, under two inches, is to keep from getting in his way.
Eye Color: A deep, midnight blue, flecked with silver. When seen just right, they almost resemble an evening sky.
Clothing: From top to bottom: A black silk headband encircles his forehead. Typically shirtless, he does wear a soft leather vest, which has the look of an old and cherished piece of clothing. A belt is closed around his waist, with many pouches and other goodies attached to it. (Detailed below.) His pants are loose, yet form-fitting enough to not hamper him in any daily activity, such as climbing in the rigging, fighting, or running from irate tavern wenches. Cloth ties keep the legs of his pants well up and away from his feet, as it would do him no good at all to trip over his own clothing during an emergency. His feet are bare, because boots are often deathly hazardous on any ship, but they are calloused enough to compensate for his 'lack' of footwear.
Occupation: Former Pilot for Sazal port. (He would come aboard ships that wished to dock and pilot them in past the obstacles, both natural and magical, which surround that particular port.) Now, a freelance Pilot/Pirate for any who will pay his price.
Accessories: He keeps a pair of enchanted hatchets stuck through the back of his belt, and a pair of pistols holstered on either side. The rest of the belt is covered in pouches that hold a wide variety of items. Everything from a rope and grapple to a deck of cards to a magic ring is included among his belt's contents.
Pets: None.
Abilities/Skills: His senses are almost elven in their intensity, and have saved him from many a scrape merely because he detected danger moments before it struck. His senses and memory link together in such a way that allows him to construct a three-dimensional map in his mind. He can always find his way back to someplace he has been before and sometimes he can even become aware of things around him without them being apparent to any of his five standard senses. He is a superb navigator and pilot without peer, or at least very few of them. He possesses enough hands-on knowledge about winds, tides, and ocean/coastal conditions to fill a book or two. He is an average shot with his pistols, but it is with his hatchets that he truly excels. Dwarven-crafted from ironwood and mithril, then enchanted by the Dockmaster of Sazal, they practically come alive in his hands. Their enchantments allow a myriad of minor magics, as do his own meager studies into the beginnings of that profession.
Weaknesses: Just as his senses are beneficial, they are also a bit of a drawback. Other than that.. well, his magic isn't all that it could be, and he has a habit of getting himself into scrape that could be otherwise avoided.
Description of Personality: Xenix is a hardworking person with a love of the sea, the sky, the sand... Well, he's really just in love with sailing and the adventure of finding new places. His wanderlust is immense, as well as his thirst for danger (although he'd rarely admit the latter). He's a tad cocky when it comes to his skills as a Pilot, as well as his own fighting prowess, and he often feels that he's the only person on the ship with two brain cells to rub together.
Brief History: Xenix was born the son of a dockworker who worked a second job as a night watchman just so that he could make enough money to send Xenix to a proper school. He studied hard in his classes, excelling in some subjects and doing average in others, the same as any other student in the world. On weekends and weekdays after school had let out, he worked alongside his father, and quickly became known to everybody there. He was a hard worker and his inability to get lost advanced him from a simple dock laborer to an apprentice pilot in a matter of months. After several years and training and learning, he became a Pilot of Sazal, one of the few men and women who could adequately and accurately navigate the city's Reefs. These Reefs were both physical and magical, in both the sea and the air. They were built and maintained to keep storms and armies outside and ships inside. Well, at least until they paid their port dues, that is. Every ship to pass into or out of Sazal must wait for a Pilot to come aboard and sail them through. In time, however, everything gets boring, and this was just such a time for Xenix. So, he contacted the Dockmaster, got his last pay, and took the first ship out of Sazal.
A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?" (IC): "Oh, make a few bucks here and there, I suppose. Keep life alive and all that."

Name: Xenix of Sazal "The Sand Serpent"
Age: 38
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Human
Height: 5'11" (180.3 cm)
Weight: 140 lbs (63.5kg)
Build: While he'd never be mistaken for a weightlifter, years living on his own have given him a lean form, muscled and calloused.

Hair Color: Pale blonde, almost to the point of being white. Its length, under two inches, is to keep from getting in his way.

Cloth ties keep the legs of his pants well up and away from his feet, as it would do him no good at all to trip over his own clothing during an emergency. His feet are closed in knee-high boots with soft, gripping soles.
Occupation: Smuggler/Privateer
Accessories: He keeps a pair of technologically enhanced hatchets stuck through the back of his belt, and a pair of small plasma pistols holstered on either side. The rest of the belt is covered in pouches that hold a wide variety of items. Everything from a rope and grapple to a deck of cards to a grenade or three is included among his belt's contents.
He is an average shot with his pistols, but it is with his hatchets that he truly excels. Rumor holds that he has deflected lasers and plasma bolts with the mirrored finish of their heads.
Weaknesses: Just as his senses are beneficial, they are also a bit of a drawback. Other than that, none immediately spring to mind. Well, he's maybe a little slower than he used to be, and several governments from his home system would love to have him dead.
Description of Personality: Xenix is a self-assured gentleman, who knows his way around the world. He has a very "Han Solo" sort of mentality, acting very confident, and then running when things get too hot for him to handle.
Brief History: Knowledge of Xenix's history is choppy at best, and he likes it that way. Little is commonly known besides that he has a good deal of money squirreled away somewhere and that he's generally an okay guy, provided that you're not a merchant on his "raid" list, or a blockade trying to stop him.
Ship: Xenix's Starlight is a very unusual vessel. Shaped like a barracuda, it is segmented, allowing an amazing maneuverability for something of it's length. A good thirty meters (98.5 ft) long, most of it's length is devoted to storage space for weapons, engines, and the second propulsion system: a vast rigging of lightweight and expansive sails. Propelled along by both a sand-impulsion drive and undulations (when dealing with especially thick patches of sand), the Starlight is capable of traveling beneath the sand in similar fashion to many stealth vessels.

Lining the sides of the Starlight are various ports for defensive laser clusters and chaff throwers. The top holds slightly larger ports for a quad of independently-targeting gauss chainguns. Mounted directly in the center of the back is a single large port that allows a double-barreled rail gun to be extended and brought to bear. Utilizing the very latest in miniaturization technology, this turret can easily punch a hole through a feet of steel at a range in excess of three kilometers (1.9 mi). To top everything off, this fish has fangs: a pair of heavy-duty plasma cannons are mounted just fore of the cockpit.

Heavily armored and hardened to protect from EMP cannons, the Starlight was designed as a blockade runner: fast, nimble, and able to take more damage than any ship twice it's tonnage. Rounding out the package is a superior sensor suite, complete with the best radar, sonar, and seismographic equipment that money can buy. While impressive, the vessel is well-used and just as well-cared-for. After all, when it's just a man and his ship, the ship comes first.
A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?" (IC): "Oh, a little smuggling here, a little raiding there, a little adventure, and a lot of staying alive."

Name: Zip / Zap / Zot
Type: Hyperactivity Dreamymon
Gender: Male, we think.

Stage 1: Zip
Zip is a small sphere about 9 inches (22.86 cm) in diameter. He glows a pale golden light and his surface is unmarked except for a single eye on his "front" that bears a similarly golden iris. That surface is soft to the touch and his entire body is squishy, yet resumes its normal shape when released.

Very curious and almost constantly on the move (especially around new and "interesting" things), Zip has been known to bounce off of walls, floors, and/or ceilings with little damage, which is a very good thing. Zip often travels at high rates of speed and tends to get distracted and forget about such trivial little matters as the laws of physics. Specifically, the one about objects in motion staying in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. He is the poster-mon for distractibility and blatant curiosity.

His main form of locomotion is hovering. He hovers, flies, gyrates, and otherwise performs arial acrobatics with little more than a thought. A very fast thought, but a thought nonetheless.
Stage 1 powers:
• Speed: Bursts of extreme speed. This power is Zip's chief attack.
• Flare: By making every molecule nearby vibrate extremely fast, this power floods an area with light for a short time, temporarily blinding the unprepared within or near that area. Zip, Zap, and Zot are all immune to the effects of Flare.
• Resiliency: Zip is very bouncy and resilient, allowing him to absorb large amounts of damage without injury. In fact, he is immune to any and all damage below a certain threshold. For the record, this is what allows Zip to bounce off of walls, ceilings, people, chairs, pets, floors, etc. without suffering damage.

Stage 2: Zap
Zap's body is four spheres connected by lines of solid energy. Each sphere is an exact copy of the Stage 1 form and they are set as the four vertices of a tetrahedron, or triangular pyramid, with each sphere's eye facing outward. The lines of energy (all measuring 12 inches or 30.48 cm) scribe out the edges where two of the tetrahedron's faces would meet, but where those faces would be, and through the rest of the figure, is empty air.

Zap is slightly less squishy and resilient than Zip, as well as a tad slower, but he makes up for it with a slightly calmer mindset. Zap approaches the world as a problem to be understood. Where Zip was curiosity unbounded, Zap shows an inquisitive nature that can be very much reined in if need be.

While unable to close to strong physical combat with other Dreamymon, Zap makes up for it by supplanting Zip's headlong runs with flung bolts of energy with about the same potential for damage.
Stage 2 powers:
• Flare: By making every molecule nearby vibrate extremely fast, this power floods an area with light for a short time, temporarily blinding the unprepared within or near that area. Zip, Zap, and Zot are all immune to the effects of Flare.
• Eyebeam: Bolts of energy fired from any of the four eyes. This energy is potent, but its heterogeneous nature means that its overall effectiveness is lower than any one, purer energy type. On the upside, the diverse energy types ensure that Zap's targets will almost always be affected.
• Co-locate: Zap can exist in multiple locations simultaneously. His multiple selves can act independently of each other and at full strength. The full number of multiple locations that can be occupied simultaneously is untested, but Zap has gotten to at least ten at one point in time.
• Translocate: Just as Zap can appear in multiple places at once, he can also teleport from one location to another.

Stage 3: Zot
Zot is a three-dimensional fractal.

Approximately 36 inches (91.44 cm) in diameter, his surface is roughly spherical. His innards, however, are constantly shifting as new pieces of data alter the equation that his pattern is based off of. In this form, there is no discernible eyes, but he seems to be able to see just fine without. His exact powers and mentality in this form are unknown – the last trainer who tried to evolve their Zap went mad and ended up rocketing their Dreamymon deep back into the Sonumbular World – but it is assumed that both would be very alien in nature.
Stage 3 powers:
• Flare: By making every molecule nearby vibrate extremely fast, this power floods an area with light for a short time, temporarily blinding the unprepared within or near that area. Zip, Zap, and Zot are all immune to the effects of Flare.
• Translocate: Zot shares Zap's ability to teleport from place to place, making him truly frightening on a battlefield.
• Fractal Shield: Zot can grown fractal designs out of itself, and then bond energy between the outgrowths to construct various designs, such as shields, domes, etc.
• Pulse: Zot sends out an omnidirectional pulse of energy that excites matter until it grinds itself into free molecules. Some materials are stronger than others and remain behind as dust, which is usually the only visible end product. Of course, not all materials will be affected, but a good rule of thumb is that the less structured a material is, the more likely it is to be broken down. (For example, materials such air and water will remain behind while that steel beam over yonder is reduced to a lovely metallic tang in the air.)
• Mutate Reality: Zot can twist reality about itself in interesting ways. These are usually unpredictable and usually weird.
Brief History: Zip, Zap, and Zot are three stages of a Dreamymon, which is the Dream equivalent of a Pokι- or Digimon. Strange? Yes, yes he is.
A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?" (IC): "Zip? Zip!" "Zap Zap." "Zot"

Name: Trefaalgon Xenixius
Age: 267 (looks roughly 22 years old in Human form)
Gender: Male
Race: Dragon

(Human Form)
Height: 6'10" (208.3 cm)
Weight: 140 lbs (63.5 kg)
Build: Lean and looking just a tad too thin for his height.
Skin Color: It looks rather tanned from a distance, or maybe just dark skinned, but up close, it is a dark navy blue, shifting to a lighter shade on the insides of his arms and legs, and also on his palms and soles.
Hair Color: Black, hung at just under shoulder height and tied back with a leather thong.
Eye Color: Deep lavender serpentine eyes.

(Legendary Form)
Length: 120' (36.58 m)
Weight: A few tons, easily. Definitely a lot more than you want sitting on anything you wish to remain intact.
Build: A little on the thin and serpentine side, with wings usually folded along his sides and a pair spiraled horns protruding up and back from his skull.
Skin Color: Deep blue scales, with a lighter blue underbelly.
Hair Color: A black mane flows partway down his spine.
Eye Color: Deep lavender serpentine eyes.

Clothing/Accessories: He wears leathers and cloth. A cloak and sturdy boots protect from the elements. A carry-all shoulder-slung sack carries a good deal of his day-to-day supplies. A wood and leather quiver holds his arrows and a pair of long knives are sheathed at his side. His bow is nearly as tall as he is, built composite and to take advantage of his great strength, and it bears carvings of dragons in flight along it's length.
Occupation: A wanderer and scholar.
Pets: None.
Abilities/Skills & Power Level: Tref's dragon ancestry allows him to shift between Human and Legendary forms at will. He requires sufficient space to assume his Legendary form, so trying to do so in a tiny cave underground will likely result in "dragon jelly". As a human, he is extraordinarily strong and resilient, with above average speed, but nothing to really write home about. As a full-blown dragon, Tref can fly for days on end and at great speeds, knock down reinforced stone walls with ease, claw through metal with some effort, and his hide will deflect the majority of projectiles and sharp edges sent his way.

Tref has no small amount of skill in archery, and could be considered a master, if he bothered to enter competitions or be around large groups of people. He also possesses some degree of skill with elemental fire magic, which is inherent and allows him to breathe fire in his Legendary form, in addition to manipulating the element in minor ways. His travels have also lent him just a smidgen of elemental earth magic.
Weaknesses:
  • Physical - Tref's Legendary form requires a lot of calories, despite its extremely efficient digestive system. He tends to eat a lot in either form, storing the biological energy away for when he will eventually need it.
  • Basket-case - Tref suffers from multiple phobias, the most notable of which are claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), ochlophobia (fear of crowds), and aphenphosmphobia (fear of being touched). He cannot abide being in large crowds, and being pressed shoulder to shoulder in a mass of people is enough to send him into a panic. Strangely enough, he finds that a moderately enclosed space, such as a building, helps him recover from a stressful crowd-related incident faster.
  • Magic - Tref's brand of magic uses up biological resources, and will physically hurt a person is used too much. This is a side reason for why he packs away calories like a dying man, as it allows him to use his magic more often and for longer periods of time. Of course, his only really big magical effects come when he's in Legendary form and trying to breathe fire, but even then, he can go overboard.
Special Effects: As Tref's home world is rather resistant to magic, so are its natives. This inherent resistance is boosted by Tref being a dragon, endowing him with an unwavering resistance to all things magical in nature (this includes psionics of any variety). This applies equally to both beneficial and harmful magics and cannot be deactivated in any way. It is partially the reason why the use of his elemental magic harms him (the resources aren't 'used up', per se, but damaged and rendered useless).
Basic Description of Personality and History:
Tref loves to learn, and learn through direct experience. He always has. From the earliest ages, he was constantly pouring over old texts and then wandering off on his own to implement what he had garnered from them. It was a fairly regular cycle, and he was a fairly ordinary child, if a bit knowledge hungry and slightly more prone to impetuous acts than his agemates.

It was near his eightieth year when Tref began exploring farther and farther out. Now, being a young Dragon and knowing what he did, the little guy was positive he was ready for the world. Unfortunately, he learned all to soon that life was a tad harder on your own. So, he decided to stay near the city until he learned a little more. Sadly, his need to explore only let him learn a little more before he took off again.

Off he went into the world, diving headfirst into situations and learning all there was to learn about the world. From the many battles, both physical and mental, he stumbled across (or into), Tref learned of politics, tactics, stratagems, logic, empathy, what drives peoples, and what halts them in their tracks.

It's almost ninety years later and Tref is still learning, moving from place to place, staying a day here, a week there, but always seeking out new facts to learn, new things to experience. The last time he visited his fellow Dragons was over fifty years past, and he's seen as something of a loner, even among Dragons. He would say that he's a complete loner, but he's just not done learning yet. This is only partially true, as his fears drive him away from contact with others, but Tref tries to keep those phobias hidden deep inside from embarrassment and a desire to be left to his own demons.
A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?" (IC): "To learn, to experience, to find out all there is to find out. What more could there be to life?"

Full Name: Brenton Tenal
Call Sign: Xenix
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Human
Height: 5'11" (180.3 cm)
Weight: 140 lbs (63.5 kg)
Build: Lean. Adequately muscled, but far more dextrous and agile than he is strong.
Skin Color: Lightly tanned, with a diamond dust coating of silver sparkles.
Hair Color: Metallic midnight blue, done into a Vash-like spiked hairdo. It's obviously not his natural hair color (because it's just not a natural hair color), but it looks too real to possibly be fake.
Eye Color: A distinctly unnatural silvery ice blue.
Clothing: Sturdy boots and a set of clothes that seem to blend into with the background. Nothing too loose or too flashy. Just comfortable, unrestrictive attire. The clothing is built by his nanomachines and it will stop low calibre bullets cold and lessen the impact of the higher calibres.
Occupation: Nanotech Engineer / E.S.W.A.T. Officer
Accessories: Xenix's body is chock full of nanomachines. He would count as a cyborg in many cultures, based off of the skeletal, muscular, and sensory enhancements he has given himself. Regular acessories would include a trusty handgun linked into his nanotech web, his AI, the lasers he recently built into his hands/forearms, his E.S.W.A.T. badge and the cloud of sensory nanomachines constantly hovering about him.
Pets: None... unless you count the AI, Mac, housed in his brain stem.
Abilities/Skills: Xenix is an engineer without par, at least in the sub-molecular world. He pioneered several new techniques with nanomachines, including a powerful version of a hive mind-based AI, the prototype of which currently controls Xenix's personal nanotech web. What does this mean? Well, it means that Xenix could possibly (and does) get large sums of money to design and build nanotech devices for people.

Xenix also has some low-level technomantic abilities, which he uses to supplement his already extensive abilities. Granted, he has to be very careful with these abilities and keep them low-key and out of the limelight (as Xing She has a thing against anybody with any sort of 'magic'), but they've been an enormous help in his work.

As an expansion, Xenix's personal modifications include almost completely rebuilding his neural network. He now reacts faster than normal humans and his tolerances and multitasking skills have gone way up. His skeletal structure is more durable, along with his skin. Any superficial changes, such as hair, skin, or eye colors can be made in a matter of minutes or hours because of the depth of his nanotech web, although massive changes are out of the question at the current date.

Not exactly an idiot, Xenix has done his absolute best to make his latest batch of nanomachines immune to traditional anti-electronics attacks, such as EMP pulses, but nothing is perfect. He's still working on it, and there is a truly hardened back-up system already in effect until he reaches that pinnacle.
Weaknesses: Well, he's cocky, for one thing. Mostly, however, he isn't as capable as he believes he is. A sufficiently powerful EMP blast will knock him on his ass, speeding cars will send him spinning, and most of the time he finds himself playing 'catch up' in a fight.
Description of Personality: Xenix is a genius, and he knows it. He is also a metatalent (Xing Shi equivalent of 'avatar'), which could get him killed. On top of it all, he thrives on danger and excitement. So, you get a combination of cocky know-it-all, paranoid infiltrator, and adrenaline junky. This makes for interesting interactions with his fellow officers.
Brief History: Xenix was your average upper-middle-class kid. He went to high school and college and got excellent grades, but was far more interested in working in his own home lab. Since making his debut in the world of the microscopic machines, he has created several unique innovations, mostly self-tested.

Recently, he was contracted by the head of X.S.S.P.C. (Xing Shi Security and Peace Corps) to develop some new adaptable armor for counter-terrorism purposes, with a nice and cozy little lab position. Xenix, however, was having none of that. He wanted action, adventure, and the good life. For him, it was a position with the best of the best, the ones you call when everything is on the line, E.S.W.A.T. itself! While the higher-ups were a little leery of sticking Xenix's brain on the front lines and in such dangerous circumstances, they had little choice if they wanted that brain working for them.

So, he got the job and has, thus far, managed to stay alive.
A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?" (IC): "Getting that new batch of nanomachines online would be nice. Just think of what I could do with them in a fight!"

Name: Timon Xinex
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Species: Human / Light Elemental
Height: 5'7" (170.2 cm)
Weight: 117 lbs (53.1 kg)
Build: Lean, edging towards skinny.
Skin Color: Slightly tanned, with a healthy glow about it. (He does not literally glow.)
Hair Color: Dirty Blonde, almost the color of sand and ash blended together, or of partially damp sand. Cut short to keep it out of his eyes and usually combed with a part on the left.
Eye Color: A stunning blue streaked through with rays of warm yellow.
Clothing: Black walking-sandals with top and heel straps. Faded jeans, held up with a black belt. A slightly tattered long-sleeved plaid shirt is worn unbuttoned and untucked over a plain white T-shirt. The plaid is primarily forest green and navy blue, with white and beige lines.
Occupation: Ex-Chosen One. Currently a traveller.
Accessories: Watch worn on his left wrist and a journey pack full of odds and ends, some food, and some basic survival gear.
Abilities/Skills & Power Level: Timon is a human with access to the powers of a Light Elemental, which gives him control over Light, which is defined for him as the visible spectrum and the wavelengths immediately above and below it (UV and IR), with a concentration in its less combative applications. His power comes more easily during the day, given the larger quantities of readily available light, but certain applications of it are more effective at night. The time of day, in and of itself, has no affect on his capabilities.

In practical terms, Timon is an ordinary human with extraordinary abilities. He has the capacity to become an all-out physically-manifested Light Elemental, at the usual high price that one pays for such fantastic abilities. Most of the time, he is very much an ordinary human and is susceptible to all the normal things that kill such a fragile species, with the standard one exception, which is discussed under Special Effects.

Listed below are sample applications of what Timon has done in the past. He is not limited to these applications, but they give a good idea of his capabilities.
Sample Applications:
  • Create Element - Timon can create light, but this effect manifests on his person. A white light wells up under his skin before streaming out of his pores. The intensity can be varied from a dim glow to a blinding brilliance, and it can be directed. after a fashion, to imitate spotlights.
  • Sight - By concentrating slightly, Timon can expand his sight into the infrared and ultraviolet, as well as enhancing his natural ability to see. Conversely, he may adjust his vision to account for external effect, such as ignoring all light of a particular wavelength so that he can still see even while somebody is trying to blind him. He has excellent night-sight, will never need sunglasses, and has even managed microscopic and telescopic sight on at least three different occasions.
  • Paint - By washing a person or object with a certain color or colors of light, Timon can subtly (or not so subtly) change its appearance. With a little work, he can even paint an object with ultraviolet light, rendering it effectively invisible. Keep in mind that this 'paint job' is only as good as Timon can make it, and he isn't exactly Monet.
  • Heat and Radiation - Timon can control infrared and ultraviolet light, albeit with more effort than he can the visible spectrum. Generating heat to warm himself or radiation to sterilize his food is certainly possible.
  • Dazzle - This creates translucent illusions, the most famous being scores of dancing lights used as a display in celebrations. A creative mind can manufacture other types of illusions, however, such as a half-seen wave of wraiths or spectral creatures of hideous/beatific origin.
  • Focus - Timon can bend waves of light in interesting manners, but not as much as one would think. He could bend all light in a room towards a single point, leaving the rest of the room darker, or he could bend all light away from a single point, making the rest of the brighter. He is incapable of making lasers in this manner, and it does not affect every lightwave present. It can nicely hide objects in an already dark room, or concentrate light to start a fire, but not take a person standing in the middle of a field at noon and cloak them in shadow. Around flammable objects and a lot of ambient light, Timon could pass as a pyromancer.
  • Surge: Solarian - This is how Timon physically manifests as a Light Elemental, at a cost to his person. Growing to approximately eight feet tall, he appears to be a humanoid figure made entirely out of a liquid light. Surrounded by a blazing nimbus, his physical prowess increases considerably, not to mention that he retains access to all of his other effects while in this form. He can move at the speed of light and shift from a tangible presence to a being of pure light at will. Each of the two forms has its pros and cons, the biggest difference being Timon's tangibility.
Weaknesses: Low self-esteen, distrust, soteriophobia (fear of dependence on others), and an obsessive fear of being tricked.
Special Effects: Timon is immune to light. He cannot be blinded, get skin cancer, or otherwise be adversely affected by the infrared, ultraviolet, or visible spectrums. Weaponry such as lasers and heat rays will be absorbed by his skin effortlessly.
Description of Personality: Timon sees himself as the poster-child for suckers. He has recurring self-esteem problems, as well as a deep reservoir of cynicism from which to draw. He is constantly on guard for possible treachery, to prevent from being 'had' again. He doesn't see himself as somebody in need of love or pity or caring, but as a kid who was stupid enough to get taken in by a con man and got everything he deserved. He just doesn't intend on letting it happen again.
Brief History: Timon never knew his parents and grew up on the street with some of the older homeless taking care of him. His power's manifested during puberty and the attention that they brought was doing harm to the Shelter and to his friends. In a decision that was partly his and partly theirs, Timon left town and began wandering. Somewhere shortly into his wanderings, a middle-aged man discovered him and his abilities. Promising to take in the boy and take care of him, the man did what he promised, but he also began to slowly use Timon to further his own agenda. He founded a cult based around the worship of the sun, with Timon as his semi-willing Chosen One. In time, Timon became sick of being used and disgusted by what was happening. It took him three years to finally get away for good. As of the current time, he is wandering about, stealing and working as necessary to stay alive.
A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?" (IC): "I'd like a family, people who I can trust, but that's never going to happen. So, I'll settle for dinner, instead."
