Avatar Profile Summary: Keijya is a friendly lion man and occasional thief who loves to travel, eat, and wear fancy clothes. He's not a very strong fighter, but he is speedy and skilled with swords and throwing weapons. He is completely non-magic.

Name: Keijya (kay-juh) Cherok (sher-ock). This is the actual, true spelling, though even Keijya himself doesn't spell it that way consistently (see Weaknesses).

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Species/Race (human, furry type, robot, alien, etc,): Lion/human hybrid, is basically human with lion-like ears and a lion's tail.

Height: 5' 6"/168 cm (And that's with shoes on. Without shoes, he's closer to 5' 5"/165 cm)

Weight: 138 lbs/62.5 kg with clothing

Build: Small and wiry, somewhat skinny, well toned but not muscular

Fur (hair, feather, scale, or skin) Color(s): Tan skin, rust-red straight hair tied back in a ponytail that reaches down to between his shoulder blades. His lion ears and tail are a tawny color. The tuft at the end of his tail is the same color as his hair. Tail is about one meter/one yard long and doesn't quite reach to the floor.

Eye Color(s): Coppery brown

Clothing (armor): Keijya loves to draw attention to himself with flashy, colorful suits, ties, and jackets which are more suited for fancy social occasions than everyday use. His favorite colors to wear are reds and yellows.

Occupation / Class: Before coming to the Dream, Keijya was a thief, though he has a tendency to fall back on stealing when things are bad, or just for the thrill of it. He has no real job, and is pretty much a wanderer, though recently he has taken on a part-time job as a pirate (see Affiliations).

Accessories (weapons, jewelry, tools, magic items, vehicles, etc.): Katanas, throwing stars, bladed frisbees (chakrams), a rapier. Around his neck he wears a very old, somewhat tarnished gold coin, his most valued possession. From Vanilla Ermfield, he received as a gift a magic cologne that enables him to jump even higher than he normally can when wearing it. And from Furilius Pitch, he was recently awarded a silver ring, which he wears on his right ring finger (when he remembers to put it on!). Recently received a magic gold ring set with strange symbols from Julian Jones, which enables him to "cast" a simple lightening spell once a day. However, he's about equally as likely to zap himself as someone else. When he travels, which is often, he also carries some meat sticks and cookies and a small first aid kit.

Pets: A small tabby cat adopted himself into Keijya's house. Keijya refers to her as "Stripes."

Affiliations: His "blood brother" Hawk, who Keijya was recently reunited with. He is friends with Kimara Archer the dragon chick, Sakeru Tairitsu the dragon man, Neema the cat/donkey girl, Phemus the priest, Kalista the tiger-lynx, Rinoa Rostii the mountain witch, and Arrow the elf. Recently, he's joined up with Captain Julian Jones' pirate crew, which includes Zeran, Shikoba, George Larken, and Tabitha. He's also acquainted with Makai, Charli, Lilfluff, Silas, Alphan, and Zendo.

Romantic Relationships: Keijya has been on dates with Kalista, Rinoa, and most recently Arrow, which unfortunately did not work out. He's secretly afraid of becoming too attached to anyone, lest he get his heart broken again.

Abilities/Skills & Power Level: Highly skilled martial artist with a ninja flavor. Favors speed and long distance, aerial attacks to close-range fighting and brute strength. Has good aim with long-range weapons and can follow an opponent's movements easily. Very agile and fast fighter. He's a well-trained thief, so he is very observant and can also move very quietly. Virtually all of his fighting and thieving skills were taught to him by Hawk (see history).

Weaknesses: Not very strong. If a powerful foe were to get his hands on Keijya, it would pretty much be over for him. Because of his rapid metabolism, he has to eat fairly often; if he goes for more than half a day with no food, he'll become weak or even faint. He also cannot read much above a first-grade level, having had no formal education, and he can't write at all, except for his name. When provoked, he can get very temperamental and rash, and therefore prone to making mistakes. He tends to be unreliable and somewhat immature, mostly due to a lack of proper parenting. Additionally, he has trouble thinking through and weighing all his options before acting, and tends to act on the first idea that comes to him. Lastly, he has an intense fear of being in water more than a few feet deep and can't swim at all.

Special Effects (if any): Other than the ears and tail, other feline attributes Keijya has are heightened senses of sight, hearing, and smell, which, while superior to those of a human's, are still not as keen as those of an actual lion's. Also, he can run faster and jump higher than normal humans, thanks to the lion traits. His finger and toenails are harder and sharper than most humans', and his canine teeth are quite pronounced. He can bite very hard, his jaw being capable of producing hundreds of pounds of force. He has the ability to purr, though it is very low in volume (he's been known to purr when eating sometimes).
His house has a protective quality to it; anyone in or near it is safe from harm, and if someone is sick or injured and brought there, they will heal quickly (sort of like the protective wards of the Welcome Center).

Description of Personality: Keijya is very friendly and jubilant, even a little flirtatious (with women), when in the presence of others, but when alone he often becomes moody and reflective. He sometimes has a short temper and acts on impulse, paying more attention to his feelings than to facts and logic. He's kind of lazy and tries to avoid work when he can, unless there's food involved. His conflicting desires to travel aimlessly and find some place to settle down sometimes cause him distress.

Brief History: Keijya has fleeting recollections at best of his childhood, most of which was spent in a orphanage; his first real memories begin with his early teenage years, when he was befriended by a slightly older thief named Hawk, who introduced him into the Thieves' Guild. There, Keijya learned all the ways of thievery, as well as his current fighting style, and Hawk became both father and brother to him.

After about five years, the city in which the Guild was located decided to take drastic action to eradicate the thieves, and the citizens set fire to the Guild, killing most of the thieves. The night before the raid, Hawk, knowing that a huge riot was imminent, forced Keijya to leave and gave him his most prized belonging, an old gold coin supposedly taken from a shipwreck. Of course, Keijya escaped, but did not leave the city in time to miss seeing the pitch black smoke from the Guild rise into the night blue sky. In grief, Keijya bought passage on a ship with what money he had and in this way began a random voyage, going wherever the waves and his spirit took him, using stolen money and goods to travel aimlessly for the past few years. He entered the Dream unknowingly on a ship, and he comes from a world that is advanced in technology (similar to real life), yet in many ways remains primitive (similar to a Middle Age setting).

After several years in the Dream, Keijya happened upon Hawk, who was under the control of an evil archmage. Now free and with his memory restored, Hawk lives with Keijya at the lion man's house on the lake.

A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?": "To sail the oceans and see the world."

Personal Beliefs: Keijya has pretty old-fashioned ideas about women, including that their main purpose is to nurture, and that they should be taken care of by men. He would never strike a woman under any circumstances, always treats them with kindness, and won't hesitate to fight to protect them. On a more philosophical level, he believes heavily in fate and predestination. Both of these beliefs were learned from the closest person to a relative he had, Hawk (see history). He does not believe in God per se, but that some neutral, yet indifferent force must be controlling the universe. Additionally, he believes that all people and things are part of one giant whole, so that whatever a person does to others or to the world ultimately reflects back on the self. He's also generally distrusting of magic, though not as much as he used to be, having been exposed to it much more in the Dream. He's of the opinion that using magic gives one an unfair advantage, unless of course the magic is personally benefiting him. However, recently he's become curious about magic, and would like to find a way to use it in order to gain more power in battle. He's not very familiar with modern technology, and things like cyborgs, portable gadgets, and robots just bewilder him.

Quirks: Keijya is a major victim of wanderlust. Has an irrational fear of being immersed in water. He is slightly claustrophobic, though this won't be apparent unless he's in an extremely small space, or underground. He can usually overcome this fear pretty easily, as long as he's free to leave such a place at any time. Oddly enough, this fear almost never comes into play when he's beneath a ship's deck. He's also somewhat insecure about his height (or his perceived lack thereof) and his physical weakness, at least compared to the many powerful denizens of the Dream.

Likes and Dislikes: Keijya loves eating more than anything; among his favorite foods are pizza and chocolate. He's not very fond of healthy foods such as vegetables. Though he hates water, he loves ships and the ocean, and tropical climates, since he lived in a port town during his teenage years. He can't tolerate being on a small boat, however (the ship must be large enough so he generally can't feel its motion on the waves).

Poetry, etc.

A limerick by Zeran!

Keijya Cherok, the man-lion,
not very known to be dyin,
feels he is short,
but I must retort.
His jumps are far more like flyin.

Was trained as a ninja, you see.
He fights like a regular Bruce Lee.
He loves yellows and reds,
And fancy new threads,
but is deathly afraid of the sea.

Keijya is a really great friend.
He'll stick with you 'til the very end.
But he seems to go wander,
and constantly ponder,
what fate has planned to send.

******
Sailing on the sea,
Never stays in one place twice
Lonely lion man.

Bonus Section: More than you ever wanted to know

Why does Keijya like to eat so much?

Who doesn’t? Actually, he doesn’t eat large quantities of food, he just enjoys the act of eating. Being deprived of basic meals for a part of your life gives you a new appreciation for food. Also, to him food is a way of expressing friendship. You share food with friends, and if someone you care about is hungry, you feed them, thus keeping them alive and tending to their basic needs.

Why is he afraid of water?

This has to do with something from his past, an event he doesn’t remember from early in his life which I am not revealing at this time.

How common are his kind (humans with slight animal characteristics) where he’s from?

Humans make up the majority of his homeworld, but about a third of the population have a few animal traits, and a much smaller percentage are full-out furries. Anyone not 100% human tends to be discriminated against, and the more animal-like they are, the worse it is.

Why is he so short and powerless compared to many of the avatars in the Dream?

I deliberately made him physically weak, at least relative to a lot of avatars here, and gave him no super-human abilities or magic powers. This forces him (and me) to be more creative about solving some of the more interesting problems that often crop up in RPs. It’s also a way to humble him; otherwise, he’d have an ego the size of Jupiter.

Why does Keijya wear such brightly colored, fancy clothes?

Three reasons. One, he got tired of always wearing rags during his childhood; two, it makes it easier for him to blend in with high society types and thus rob them (something he and Hawk often did together); and three, he’s rather vain and likes drawing attention to himself.

How much of his past does he remember? What’s his earliest memory?

Most of his childhood was spent in orphanages and really isn’t worth remembering. His earliest memory was at about the age of 3 or 4. “I remember a baby crib, but I wasn’t in it. There was an infant inside, and someone, a woman, was standing next to me also looking at the baby. I don’t remember what either of them looked like or where this was. Maybe they were my mother and brother or sister?”

TIMELINE

Birth-4 years: Unknown; possibly with his biological family.

4 years-13 years: Lived in various orphanages; shortly after he turned 13, he escaped into the streets, where he nearly died.

13 years-17 years: Was rescued by Hawk, who he then lived with in the Thieves’ Guild until just a few weeks shy of his 18th birthday, when it was burned down by the populace.

17 years-22 years: Wandered his homeland aimlessly, often with little more to his name than the clothes on his back.

22 years-Present: Entered The Dream.

RANDOM

Birthday: July 29 (I don't age him every year).

Blood Type: O Positive

Distinguishing Marks: Scars in the middle of his back from a shipwreck when he was 15, a scar near the base of his tail that can’t be seen due to the fur, and a small, light brown mole on his stomach a couple of inches above and slightly to the left of his belly button. His newest scar, from the knife wound given to him by Hawk, is on his abdomen on the left side.

Allergies: None known, but he is mildly lactose intolerant, though this only happens with milk, not with things made with milk.
