Avatar Profile Age: 30 (Appears to be at most 25)

Gender: Female

Species/Race: Half-demon (Human/Naga hybrid)

Height/Length: As a human, six feet tall. As a naga, add 30 feet of snake.

Weight: Never ask a lady her weight! Okay, human form, average for her height; naga form, much, much heavier (probably around 700-800 lbs, given how dense her musculature is when in naga form, possibly more, as I'm not quite sure of the weight ratio).

Build: In human form, she is statuesque, with what could be classified as "dangerous curves," and a slender waistline and long, lovely legs. Remember Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Rodger Rabbit?)? That's about right. Good facial structure, expressive features. In naga form, she is basically identical above the waist, but her lower body is replaced the body and tail of a snake: strong, muscular, and scaled up to her size.

Fur (hair, feather, scale, or skin) Color(s): Her hair is a bright, fiery red; shoulder length, with bangs in front. Her skin is fair caucasian. When she goes naga, the scaly serpentine portion is emerald green, with a red diamondback pattern.

Eye Color(s): Her eyes are a brilliant emerald green. When she goes naga, the irises take up the entire eye and her pupils become elliptical (slitted).

Clothing: A traditional nun's full habit. Does its best to hide her somewhat voluptuous form, but does not succeed entirely, though you won't see much of her hair very often, aside from her bangs. When she goes naga, the serpentine portion will obviously exceed the length of the habit by about thirty feet, making it fairly hard to hide. Rather than wear the usual clunky nun's shoes, she wears sensible black slippers, which are pushed off when her form changes.

Accessories:

One flexible steel ruler, good for whapping things, such as knuckles. EDIT: On further consideration, she should have several rulers hidden on her person, as they are a little too easy to lose for carrying just one to be practical.

Rosary: This is the long kind, which fastens about the waist like a belt, and then leaves the crucifix hanging on about a foot or two of beads.

Flask of Holy Water: Specially designed top for pouring or for flicking drops at a target.

Pets: none yet.

Abilities/Skills & Power Level:

Ruler Wielding: She can whack things with her ruler, or throw it at them. Whether throwing or whacking, her accuracy is uncanny, and she can deal quite a stinging blow. This skill could be used with a shortsword in a pinch.

Holy Spritz: She can flick droplets of Holy Water with great accuracy, though the range is somewhat limited.

Naga Shift: She can shift between human and naga form at will, though she may shift inadvertantly if she has gone too long with out shifting. If she does not spend at least one hour out of each twenty-four in her naga form, the need to change starts to slowly build. After three days without changing, she will begin to feel ill. On about the fourth day, she will be miserable and nearly incapacitated, and on the fifth she will be utterly helpless. Sometime on the fifth or sixth day, the shift will occur with or without her consent, and she will be unable to shift back to her human form for at least five days.

Venomous Bite: She has venom glands which produce a powerful neurotoxin that causes pain, convulsions, and finally death. Delivered through her fangs, which are always present, giving her a rather vampiric smile. Present in both forms.

Venom Spitting: She can spit her venom about thirty feet. When it enters a target's eyes, it causes extreme pain and blindness. Accuracy is spot on up to about fifteen feet, fairly reliable at twenty feet, but deteriorates quickly after that.

Scent Tasting: When in naga form, or nearing a shift to naga, she has a forked tongue and can taste scents upon the air like a snake can.

The Look [2-11-04]: Not originally included here, this has been used often enough to merit its addition. Sister Mary has mastered that glare that nuns, mothers, some teachers, and most old women use to devastating effect. You know, that look of combined anger, contempt, and disgust that says that not only is someone living down to your lowest expectations, but that they are the edge of being in Serious Trouble and that they don't want to find out just how bad Serious Trouble can be. This would likely count as an attempt at intimidation and domination.

Hypnosis: When others look directly into her eyes, they run the risk of being entranced. This makes them highly suggestible, and they tend not to perform any actions unless told to or given permission. If eye contact is broken, they soon snap out of it, but posthypnotic suggestions will stick. She has some control of this ability, but will occasionally entrance someone by accident. The chance of accidentally entrancing someone increases when Mary is in naga form.

Extra Flexibility: She is more flexible than the average human, capable of bending and twisting past what is natural for most people. Her snake portion is very flexible, capable of all of the contortions of a natural snake, and is prehensile (especially the tip) to boot!

Enhanced Reflexes: She can literally move with the speed of a striking snake. This would be applicable in melee combat for dodging and attacking. Basically, greatly reduce her reaction time and increase the speed of short, sharp movements.

Enhanced Strength: Mary's serpentine portion is very strong and muscular. Of course, this would only be relevant when she is in naga form.

Constriction Attack: If she can catch something in her coils, she can squeeze it like a constrictor, damaging it or even crushing the life from it. Naturally, this option is only available when she is in her naga form.

Healing: Through some ironic fluke (much of her life seems to be an ironic fluke) or God's sense of humor, she can heal others or herself by laying on hands and focusing on her goal. Works best on wounds and injuries, poisons are more difficult, and diseases are near impossible.

Pyrokinesis (aka Firestarting): Another side effect of her heritage, she can control heat and fire, and has the power to ignite things with her mind, as well as shape flames, especially those she ignites. She is fairly powerful (on a ten point scale, she would score between 6.5 and 7), and has enough control to avoid inadvertantly frying herself. Tends to get out of control when she becomes too angry. NOTE: Her pyrokinesis is of the highly cinematic variety.

Vulnerablility to some holy objects: Though Sister Mary is part demon, she is also a nun. This dichotomy renders her spiritually neutral, so generic holy objects do her no harm. However, should their power be channeled into a ceremony specifically designed to repel or harm demons, or should they be specifically designed for that purpose, she finds their presence painful, and sometimes shows physical symptoms such as blistering skin when exposed to powerful items. Also, being around these objects can cause an uncontrolled shift to naga form, especially if their powers are specifically targeting her.

Special Effects: When she heals, her hands (or sometimes her entire body) shine with a white light. When she uses her pyrokinesis in a big way, there is the typical cinematic effect of her clothing being blown about as if by a phantom wind.

What is your ambition?
I long for a place where I may serve God without having to worry about my nature being discovered, and finding myself burned at the stake, tortured, driven out by a mob of pesants wielding torches and pitchforks...you get the idea.

Personality Notes

Mary Ig is generally sweet natured and openminded, but takes her vows very seriously. She also can be quite prudish at times. She is used to respect and courtesy. She can be a diciplinarian at times, and will gladly fight to uphold her moral standards or protect those she thinks of as being under her care. She feels that her demonic heritage obliges her to protect others from evil where she finds it. Her mood can change suddenly, and when she is cranky she can be dangerous to be around. She is paranoid and defensive about her demonic heritage, but the Dream is slowly working that out of her. When she goes naga her emotions are more volatile and she tends to be more likely to turn violent.

Personal History

Sister Mary Ignitius (Mary Ig for short), comes from a world very similar to earth in the 1800's, right down to the presence of Catholicism. No one is certain who her parents were, but one was definitely a snake demon of some sort. As an infant, she was abandoned on the doorstep of an isolated convent, where she was taken in and raised as an orphan. While there, she received schooling from the nuns. Though familar with the concept of technology, she has had relatively little exposure to it. She was an ordinary little girl, rather gangly and awkward, but intelligent and curious. She was a good girl on the whole, but was strong-willed and could be stubborn at times, and steadfastly refused to attend certain ceremonies, claiming that they gave her headaches. As she grew, she felt Called to become a nun, which brought the sisters great joy. About the time she hit puberty, things began to change. She began to become a beautiful young lady, and the powers began to manifest. At first, it was only healings, which were hailed as miracles. However, before the word could spread, she began to have nightmares, and things began to catch fire... Naturally, she was terrified, and went to the Sisters with her troubles. Thereafter, her room was stripped bare of any flammable items that could be lived without. After her first change, the nightmares stopped, and things got interesting...

Time passed, and she and the Sisters (who were fortunately quite openminded, for nuns) came to terms with the situation, and her control increased, though despite her best efforts her teeth refused to return to normal. Naturally, the local bishop was made aware of the situation, but only in stages, and by the time the full situation was apparent, he had gotten to know Mary Ig and proved to be quite understanding. Eventually, she became a novice and then a nun, and was given the name Mary Ignitius as an inside joke. She spent a few years happily teaching at the convent school (oddly enough, even the most unruly students rarely gave her any trouble...) before things went bad, ending up with her entrance to the Dream...

See how she finds her way to the Dream and follow her as she finds herself Fallen from (or is it into?) Grace.
