Ariel is Centaur Prime's sidekick. His profile can be found here.
Species/Race: Wind/Water Sprite
Weight: ~20 Lbs.
Build: Slender and delicate looking
Fur(skin) Color: Chameleon color shifting from black through blue and blue-green to translucent, usual color is a medium blue.
Eye Color: Blue
Clothing: construction/paint gear w/ Safety harness, Run crew blacks w/ optional safety harness, or casual clothes.
Accessories:CASES (see notes), HUD goggles, headset, subspace storage portal in CASES/backpack, bracelet (see notes).
Abilities/Skills & Power Level: flight capabilities, skilled in acting, spying, some technical skills, magic skills (see notes), pseudotelekinesis (can rotate/move objects if force required is less than ~1.5x her mass and she is touching object).
Weaknesses: While in use (as it is most of the time), Ariel's CASES unit, while quite useful, is also a source of weakness. The CASES unit is not EMP resistant. The results of an EMP blast can range from annoying to deadly. On the weak end of the scale, radio communications can be disrupted. On the deadly end of the scale, the pulse running through the nurolink would cause a violent muscle spasm, leading to death from heart failure or other cause. Intermediate levels include breaker trips and a 'soft kill' (RAM wipe), a headache accompanying a 'hard kill' (magnetic media wipe), and a KO accompanying a disablement of the CASES system.
The CASES unit itself also is a weakness. If someone were to compromise (take over) the unit, they would have full access to Ariel's mind, and the ability to use her as a puppet. Because she relies on Centaur Prime's CASES system, this vulnerability is even more manifest. Like Centaur Prime, she tends to be somewhat paranoid when it comes to security of the system.
A final weakness is the talisman that Ariel is bound to.
Special Effects: Color shifting.
Personality: Timid, sneaky, fun-loving (prankster)
Ambition: Survival, Freedom.
CASES stands for Computer Augmented Sensory Enhancement System. CASES is a computer that is mounted in a backpack. Ariel's CASES unit is essentially a 'thin' client. It has little storage space, and uses a low power, low speed processor. Normally, she uses Centaur Prime's CASES unit for running applications, however her unit can function on it's own, although with very limited capabilites. Some of the hardware that is typically used includes network cards (tethered or wireless), a crypographic coprocesor, a matrix-style nurolink, the HUD and headset, sensor gloves (useful for probing circuit boards, and other delicate circuitry), input gloves (used for virtual input devices or keyboard type input devices), and video input devices.
Some time before entering the dream, Centaur Prime found an old talisman. Soon after, he discovered that it was much more than it appeared to be. Some time in the past (~300 years before), Ariel had been bound to the talisman by a malicious magician. By accident, Centaur Prime summoned her from the pocket dimension within the talisman. After some initial problems, Centaur Prime gradually became friends with Ariel and accepted her as a buisness type partner.
In addition to being a living place of sorts, the talisman also contains several other enchantments. These enchantments are a binding spell (attached to Ariel and her bracelet.), a pocket dimension, a confinement spell, an anti-loss spell, a magic limiter spell, and a trap spell. The anti-loss spell prevents the owner of the talisman (Centaur Prime) from losing it or having it stolen. The pocket dimension provides a living space for Ariel inside the talisman. The confinement spell allows the owner of the talisman to force and keep any bound creatures in or out of the dimension. Centaur Prime almost never uses the spell. The limiter spell limits the strength of the magic used by anyone bound to it or touching the braclet. It also limits the magic use by anyone inside the pocket dimension. If anyone under the limiter spell excedes the limit, they freeze for a some amount of time while under the influence of the spell. The trap spell is present on the talisman, but is inactive. It can only be activated by the owner of the talisman. With some assistance from Kabbalist, the talisman was carefully modified to allow it to be controlled from a card that can be connected to Centaur Prime's CASES unit.
Ariel's bracelet helps bind her to the talisman. It is plain, thin and fits skin tight. It is also (nearly) impossible to break or remove. While anyone touches the bracelet, they are affected by the limiting spell.
Ariel's magic capabilities include the ability to manipulate water and wind, the formation of balls of snow, ice, water or steam, healing skills, teleportation and portal formation.
The strenght of Ariel's magical capabilities are dramatically different with and without the limiting spell. Without the limiter spell, she'd be able to do her elemental manipulation on volumes of a cubic mile or more. She'd also be able to perform other forms of magic such as healing other beings, teleportation and portal formation. She would be able to form element balls 2-3' in diameter with little effort, and larger with more effort. With the limiter spell in place, her elemental manipulation is limited to volumes of a few cubic feet. She is unable to do the teleportation and portal tricks, and is only be able to heal herself. The element balls are limited to ~3" in diameter.
