Rein Sharper Gallant is a 24-year-old black-footed ferret (mustela nigripes). An expert (and self-proclaimed) "thief extraordinaire," Rein has a desire to lift many valuable objects off of others. Part of the fun, though, is putting the items back once the intended victims realize they are missing.
---------------------------------
Physical Description:
---------------------------------
Fur Color/Eye Color: A white patch of fur runs from his chin to the bottom of his stomach, whereupon his regular coloration pattern resumes. He follows this coloration pattern in both his "small" and "large" form. Oftentimes during the winter months, Rein sheds his coat and grows out a new one, completely uniform in color. This has led to some embarrassing moments in the past (albino, blue-furred, etc). His hair is a dirty blond, with no heavily defined style. Simply messy and ragged.
His eyes shine a deep blue sapphire.
Height/Build: The ferret stretches 23 inches, from nose to rear-feet. His tail runs an extra seven inches, giving him quite a bit over two feet in length. He is also four feet six inches from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet (this is explained later in the "abilities" section). His body is quite lithe, as only a ferret's can be. His arms and legs are very thin, making it seem impossible for him to walk around with such a spring in his step.
Clothing: Rein is often seen wearing a tan, soft-leather shirt, similar in the material used to create a moccasin. His pants are similarly colored and of the same material. The silky sash that surrounds his waist is a deep brown, helping to blend in with his fur coloration.
--------------------
Accessories:
--------------------
Dagger: In a sheath at his side, Rein carries a dagger with a 10 inch blade.
His dagger is extremely (and magically) sharp. In addition, when slashed through the air, it projects a vacuum which travels outward in the direction of the blade's axis, leaving a trail which moves outward through the air like a ripple. This vacuum can cut as if it were razor sharp at first, but loses power the further it travels (up to a limit of 100 feet).
Pouch: At Rein's side is a seemingly normal cloth pouch. It always looks empty, despite how many items he manages to cram inside. In reality, the pouch has a special lining on the inside that serves as a portal to a storage area located within the ferret's home. Items so stored are automatically reduced in size to allow passage into the container. This size-reduction is permanent until the items are removed from either Rein's home or brought forth once more from the pouch.
Living beings may also be "transported" by this pouch, all without any physical damage or maladies. It does leave a slightly disconcerting feeling as one's size changes, but no otherwise ill effects. The "shrinking magic" is released upon exiting Rein's home, the spell semi-intelligent in a sense (it knows to release itself only in a safe location).
Thief Tools: Rein has a variety of thieving tools stored within his pouch, including devices to pick locks, set traps, and create escape routes.
- Skeleton Key - A type of memory metal that shifts itself to fit any lock. This process is slow, but sure, taking a minute or more to change itself to the appropriate shape.
- Screwdrivers
- Pins
- Tweezers
- Pulleys
- Clamps
Line: One of Rein's more interesting bits of gear is a thread of spider webbing (he has an entire ball of it). He has yet to reveal where he found such threading, or what type of spiders carry them. The thread, approximately as thick as a fishing line, has the strength of steel. Without close inspection, the line looks invisible. It has been known to support his weight in larger form, as well as multiple heavy objects (anvils, bowling balls, tables, etc.).
He often uses this thread in conjunction with special needles to swing around if he thinks a jump is too dangerous to try, or in last-second situations to save his life.
Needles: These needles are similar to drywall screws in that, upon embedding into a surface, two latches spring out from the tip, creating a 'T' that holds the needle firmly in place. Each needle can hold up to 40 pounds of weight, so combining them is sometimes necessary. The needles can embed into most surfaces and worked/natural stone. They cannot, however, pierce metal.
Cloak of Shadow: Upon first glance, this is little more than a normal black cloak. Its makeup seems to be of silk and black dye. Upon donning the cloak, however, the subject feels an immediate affinity toward the shadows. While the cloak is worn, the user can step into any shadow and become completely concealed, no matter how 'light' the shadow. Travel becomes nearly instantaneous to any location within the shadow (and any connected shadows), a small 'blur' indicating the user's position.
Removing the shadow via a strong enough light source removes the abilities of the cloak, leaving the subject visible.
Cloak of Etherealness: Much like the Cloak of Shadow, the appearance of this cloak is fairly normal. It shines of silver, with the comforting touch of silk. Wearing the cloak changes things quite a bit, though. Once put on, the cloak transports the wearer to the ethereal realm. The surrounding area becomes little more than foggy shapes and outlines. Flight is possible while in this realm, allowing one to reach previously unaccessible locations, and even granting the ability to pass through material barriers. The user cannot be harmed while this cloak is donned, unless a spell or effect specifically targets the ethereal plane.
Spider-Wraps: Special wraps that go around Rein's hands and feet allow him to cling to most surfaces with grooves, much as a spider's leg might. He can climb vertical and upside-down horizontal surfaces without falling, but must be careful. Angling his feet/hands wrong could very well cause him to fall (the miniature 'hooks' of the wraps are like velcro to walls; angling wrong can release the velcro).
Knockout Powder: This blue powder (herbal in nature) collected inside a small cloth package is more than enough to stop a herd of stampeding rhinos! The effects vary in duration, but the average length is about 30 minutes.
The Ribbon: A spectacular necklace of impossible design, this piece of jewelry is majestic in many ways. It consists of strands of gold and diamond interwoven and contains an essence of its own. It is in some way connected to the Napping Cat's Dream, but it was forged on the world of Solarun. Currently, it enables Rein to speak to the wearer in the other world.
Spice of the Season: Yet another collection of herbs that Rein carries around with him, this particular batch is used in creating a delicious broth that changes its taste depending on the current season.
- Spring is a peppery orange.
- Summer is a mint-and-orange mix.
- Autumn brings the pepper back, adding a small bit of vanilla.
- Winter is deliciously spicy, mixed with tangerines.
------------------------
Abilities/Skills:
------------------------
Jump: A permanent magic cast upon Rein's father passed down through heredity, allowing him to jump any distance and land safely, assuming he is focusing on the landing. Changes in gravity can affect his ability to jump, but only in the sense that he's uncertain how much effort is needed to reach a certain distance/height.
Height Reduction/Height Increase: For some inexplicable reason, Rein has the ability to change his height between two settings! His 'normal' form is the 23 inches, walking upon all four feet (he's still capable of using his hands and walking upon two legs, but he seems to prefer the former). This magical ability enables him to tranform his body, increasing in height and build by more than double the original. His form, for the most part, remains the same shape. For all intents and purposes, this is considered a 'magic ability.' If there is a situation that prevents the use of magic, Rein will remain in whatever form he is currently, unable to change to the alternate.
Also, any clothing he's wearing and/or items he's carrying reduce/increase in size as necessary to be wearable/usable in the new form.
Whittler: Rein has a hobby of carving blocks of wood into various shapes. Most objects so carved are perfect in shape, as if he has a keen eye for details.
Instruments: He plays a few instruments well, able to replay decent-length songs that he's heard before. He's not exactly a 'master' at them, but he has been playing them for some time.

History, Demeanor and Purpose:
--------------------------------------------- -----
History:
Rein Sharper was born on the world of Solarun (a medieval setting) to Ignus (ferret) and Cara Sharper (vixen). He was raised as a thief by his father, given all the skills of his trade (or so his father thinks). His sister, Kaylee Sharper, was born eleven years later. At the age of 12, Rein lost his mother in a self-sacrificing assault against a collection of psychopathic dolls. Ever since, he has had a slight aversion to anything resembling a doll, whether it be an action figure, a stuffed animal, or a real person...
Most of his thief training was taught by his father Ignus. However, over the course of his life, Rein found a few friends that also gave him things here and there. This included one Risa Darkwood, a female ferret that brought Rein into her single-person group and taught him the ways of her thieving arts. Also, because of his nature and occupation, Rein has quite the aversion to large groups of people, known or not.
After a breakup and odd situation with one of his aforementioned friends, he made a vow that he would never steal for profit again, instead returning the object to the owner once the steal was completed.
At the age of 18, Rein launched himself into an operation that was to be his greatest theft ever: Steal the Ribbon from the current king. He was successful, to a degree... He stole the necklace without the king's notice. Feeling proud, he took his prize back home. Or, rather, he tried. Along the path back, his mind clouded with thoughts of sleep. Any previous inclinations of danger he had were gone. He found a tree trunk, leaned back, and passed right out. Thus became his entrance into the Dream.
Over time, Rein met and adventured with many friends throughout the Dream, enjoying its chaotic and not-always-permanent nature. One particular individual, a druid ferret by the name of Makai, became his mate, married in Rein's homeworld and taking the family title of "Gallant." They have since had a litter of three kits: Cara, Tikar, and Miko Gallant. Makai has begun a quest to complete her druidic abilities, becoming a lesser-seen avatar in the Dream. While Rein's devotion to her is unending, he has started to feel somewhat abandoned.
Demeanor:
Rein is a very easy-going and chaotic individual. His love for thievery will never leave his soul while he lives, nor will his sense of adventure. He has few qualms of bashing up the surroundings in the middle of a life-or-death struggle. He has a heart of gold, however, towards anyone he considers "friend." He is a noteworthy father, protecting his kits to the last breath and teaching them what he can so that they may better protect themselves in the future.
He has no problems stealing from friends nor family. Given his vow, however, he will always return said item. He does this more for amusement of those that know him.
One of the ferret's favorite pasttimes is telling stories. They can be true stories that he has witnessed before or completely fabricated. Either way, he tells them with a fervor, revelling in each detail he provides to others.
Purpose:
Rein has a desire... a very heavy desire. He wants to become the greatest thief in existence. His desire has caused him to steal many things of great value, but he has yet to "feel" that he is truly the greatest thief. He claims he'll know, though.
Ambition: "To become the best there is at what I do. Once I've become the best, I'll have to give it up. Getting there is where the real fun lies."
*~-~*~-~*~-~*~-~*~-~ Memories - Under Construction ~-~*~-~*~-~*~-~*~-~*
On The Lookout - Rein's entrance into the Dream. Gosh, weren't those days just extraordinary?
YO! - An RPG sign up thread started by Zen l33t. Unfortunately, it took off, but didn't make it that far. Also take note that back then, Rein wasn't everywhere at once! He actually left a sign stating that he'd gone to the Mu Monastery for... training. He hadn't yet realized that the Dream allowed you to be wherever you were... at any time.
OFFICIAL AVATAR DESCRIPTIONS & AMBITIONS THREAD - Those of you older avatars who might remember, this is the first ever place to post one's profile within the Dream, before we got our own personal space for profile info. It was here, on page 4, that I posted Rein's first ever profile. It has been cleaned up a couple times since its first incarnation, but it's still there, in all its former glory.
OOC Discussions - An older thread where I discussed having an epiphany! I didn't even really know what one was until then... Imagine my surprise! Waldo himself helped uncover this hidden feeling.
The Game continues - My first ever post in The Game (aka, L. Miner's Game) on page 8. Always a fun game. Just wish it would pick up again!
The Necklace - This... is Rein's greatest conquest of the Dream. From Zen-Dao's very neck, the icons were snagged, stolen, pilfered, and removed. Zen-Dao was none the wiser, though later on, the ferret received a scolding from Master Mu, more or less verifying what he'd done.
Picture - A thread in which Methos requests information about how to setup image tags within the Dream. A small part, to be certain, but helpful in some way!
Chopper Chimp & The Debbie Devil Twins - Chopper's intro! It was a spectacular arrival and very well done, though my part in it was infinitely small >.>; Really! I didn't pop a bike tire...
it begins - Remember the YO! thread above? This is the RP that it led to. Unfortunately, the story remains unfinished... Even back then, RL intervened in many a story.
Matchmaker Matchmaker... - The title is pretty self-explanatory. Someone decided to post a thread for people to play matchmaker in. I had no idea that Makai would end up being MY mate, so I paired her off with... Kirian!
The Good, The Bad, and The New - L Miner throws a party to welcome the new people, as well as mingle with the old!
The Game, By L Miner - Yet another post within another game! Hurray for L Miner's play of fame!
Kachina Doll - A thread in which a doll enters the Dream, sentient and kind. Unfortunately, Rein did not feel the same as others did...
"Valentine" Ball - This would be Methos' very first ball. Rein embarrassed the hell out of himself in this one, still under an old mindset and having relative butterfingers.
A new RP? Maybe...? - My very first sign-up thread, though it was more of a call for attendance than anything. The thread ended up being Open to all, as I've tried to keep most of my threads...
4 More Avatars Get Psychedelic! - This would be Nach's, Scourgling's, and Ende's cardings! This was back before the wonderful Val granted us new visages.
The Planet's Tear - My first GM'd RP in the Dream... To me, it was epic. It spanned two threads and made many an avatar happy. It involved Rein slightly, but mostly the other avatars... The plot? A giant twister appears, set to destroy everything... Where did it come from? Read and find out!
Introduction - The introduction of one Grendel Three-Stars-Shining. Unfortunately, the bear did not stick around long. He seemed like quite the character that Rein could get along with...
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES Thread - The ferret was having some name difficulties! On page 3, I discussed a few things with Furilius regarding the name Rein and Rein Sharper... but something surprising came out of it! Master Mu confirmed that Rein had taken the Mystical Icons and that Karma was coming around for him.
Please make the threads clear [Announcement] - Eltharion wishes us to use tags in titles! Here is a minor debate/request from one fellow avatar to all the others to help the sorting of threads. Remember, back in those days, everything was on one board...
The Little Wooden Egg - This is, basically, the intro to The Planet's Tear. Slightly out of place, but it is a continuation of the events revolving around the Valentine's Day ball.
(Intro Thread) Dreaming of the Dark - Adam M's intro thread. A very... introspective character, you could say!
Something Watches: Chapter Two - Nachahmer's epic RP. Rein joined in on page 8. Things were pretty nasty!
Look Out Below! - An Introduction - Jason Argosy's entrance into the Dream! A good friend.
Don't drink the water - The mermaid of a million questions! This is Kira Rusalka's introduction to the Dream. AKA, my now wife ^^
The Arrival - Steve Dave's arrival. Cool guy.
This Week's Trio - This particular carding holds a special place in my heart... Along with Methos and GrimmJack, I was finally Pyschedelicized. It was a momentous occasion XD;
The Watering Hole II (Official topic for pub stories, etc..cont.) - Mawarra's pub! Tell a story, get a drink! Simple enough, yes?
OOC: Small problem...? - Sovan has a problem! It seems that one of his posts was made in error and he deleted it... but in doing so, this left a gap! He was hoping to be able to post a reply inbetween others' replies!
Re: The Coming of the Shadow Dynasty: OOC Rules/Ideas/Admission/Discussion Thread. - An RP created by Kazuto, I had to step aside for this one. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with how many threads I was in at one time, allowing others to take my place.
