Age: Several hundred years, though she appears to be about eight years old
Species/Race: Karasu Tengu. A type of wereraven native to Japan
Height: Varies. In the form of a girl, she is about three feet tall. In wereraven form, she is about 5'4". She can also be a normal-sized raven.
Build: She is small but has a healthy amount of baby-fat
Coloration (skin, scales, fur, feathers, hair, etc.): She has pale skin and straw-yellow hair in human form. In a raven form, she is covered completely in black feathers.
Eye Color: Blue, in human and raven form
Clothing / Armor: As a little girl, she wears a formless purple dress, tied with a simple red ribbon. She has adapted a very western look, wearing a traditional floppy which's hat (also purple) and striped socks. As a wereraven, she may go without any clothes or wear a purple kimono. In human and wereraven forms, she can choose to manifest a pair of wings or go without them.
Occupation / Class: Necromancer.
Affiliations (family, friends, organizations): She has been separated from her family for a long time and is not sure they are even alive any more. She has made a few friends in the past but currently is completely on her own.
Accessories: She rarely carries anything with her but may occasionally conjure up a toy. She might be seen carrying a shakujo (a ring-topped staff) in her wereraven form.
Pets: Kara loves bats, spiders, snakes and just about anything else creepy and crawly. She is often accompanied by an overweight bat and has an overly large house spider living in her hat.
Abilities/Skills & Power Level: Kara tends to get along very well with bats, spiders, insects, reptiles, and amphibians and they will be naturally inclined to like her but they are not under her control. She can communicate freely with corvids but again does not control them. In fact, with how distrustful corvids tend to be, they are likely to not want to talk to her at all unless she can find a way to convince them. She has the power of flight in all her forms, even if she does not choose to manifest her wings.
Being a well-travelled individual, Kara is familiar with several languages: Japanese, Chinese, English, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish and a little bit of Russian.
Special Effects: Kara is able to raise zombies to do her bidding. Sometimes, they're the only people she can find to keep her company. Raising the dead requires several minutes of uninterrupted concentration for each individual creature she tries to animate. She has no control over undead that she did not raise herself.
Weaknesses/Disadvantages: Despite being an adult in reality, Kara has the mentality of a child. She is very naive, easily distracted (and easily entertained) and is more trusting of people than she probably should be. It is difficult for her to make friends, since she is often attended by creatures that most people find unsavory. She also has an unfortunate tendency to forget about the zombies she has summoned after they have served whatever purpose she had in mind for them. These zombies will wander around aimlessly, causing some havoc, or continue to try to do whatever she last commanded of them, no matter what stands in their way.
Description of Personality: Kara is invariably cheerful and friendly. She likes to talk, play games, and have parties. She's very childlike and acts innocent, even as one of her zombies is chewing on someone's arm. Her feelings aren't easily hurt, but when someone does get to her she's more likely to sit down and cry than get angry. Her race is naturally mischievous and her greatest pleasure is playing a good prank on someone.
Brief History: Kara grew up in Japan where she learned everything there is to know about being a tengu and about necromancy from her father, a well-renouned magician among her people. Tengu society started to decline shortly after the Meiji restoration and Kara left home before she could see it disapear completely. She became interested in western culture and sailed for Europe with a Dutch gentleman, under the guise of the orphaned daughter of some Christian missionaries. She was fascinated with the legends and folklore of these barbaric countries for a while kept adjusting her own image to match them, until she decided on appearing as a child-like witch. She hasn't spent all her time wandering in the real world; she has visited places of legend, dreams and other realities in the past and now her search for fun has brought her to the NCD.
A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?": "To be the queen of my very own world! It doesn't matter which one really. Even a small one would be OK."
An old pic, but maybe the best
The striped socks came later
