Profile change: 2008-06-09
Added Steampunk eekee. Same character, same background, but with a taste for 19th century Anglo-American style.
eekeeSpecies: Quisss (pronounced with a rising and falling tone not unlike a doppler shift), an anthro swift
Text color: (where used) #ff3f00
Age: 30-something, though he may act younger. His kind mature about as fast as humans but live a very long time, so that while capable of maturity he feels no pressure to act 30-something.
Appearance: Front of neck is white, the rest is charcoal grey to black, with the underside of the wings being a little lighter. (Referance pics at bottom of page.) Short curved claws on hands and feet. His legs are short, even for his height, and his torso is more like a swift's than a human's. His arms are relatively short also but his wings seem huge, especially when folded. (His arms and wings are seperate.) A note on chest definition considering he's usually shirtless: nothing shows under his feathers, but the swift-like shape of his chest doesn't look remotely human. Evidently whatever deity put his kind together had more concern for aerodynamics than human tastes, although he doesn't necessarily look bad as such.
Physical abilities: On the ground he can sprint well but lacks any real stamina in his legs and arms. In the air he's been measured at 167.2mph in a race, is comfortable at speeds between 30 and 120 mph, and typically 'cruises' at around 70-80mph airspeed when travelling alone. Like smaller swifts he can remain airborne for up to a week at speed, living on very light supplies. He'll eat very well and sleep particularly soundly after such a journey, and shouldn't do it too often but otherwise shows no ill effects. A week at 70mph adds up to a very long way, by the way. Very rough calculations indicate he could fly from the Andes to Indonesia the long way round, but only if he gets good winds. He also has exceptional agility in flight and prefers flying to running when haste is needed, provided there's enough space to spread his wings of course. One thing he can't do in the air is hover without a strong headwind, 30mph at least. Another potential weakness is the length of space he needs to take off, at least when not hanging off a convenient cliff. No vertical jumps into the air from a horizontal surface for this swift.
Steampunk Eekee Mr. Khee, if you prefer.
Summary: This is entirely the same character as the techno-themed eekee but somewhere along the way he's picked up a taste for steampunk, a workshop in the old quarter of Anycity, and some very sharp suits. He calls himself Mr. Khee when in Steampunk 'mode', feeling that eekee does not sound like a good name for a self-respecting gent of the age of steam.
Clothing: He has a taste for the more early upper-class British styles of the period. His best jacket is one of those ones with the very deep V showing off the waistcoat, the sides joined with just 3 buttons and parting again when barely below the waist, the tails arcing back flamboyantly over his wingtips. It's black, perfectly fitted, and immaculate, as is the other clothing he wears with it. He has a variety of waistcoats, several of high-quality silk. Apparently he's not short of money these days. He prefers red waistcoats, especially with that jacket, and possesses a tall black topper to match. Scaled for his relatively little head it doesn't quite bring him up to 4'4". He also has a few lower hats and somewhat less ostentatious jackets for 'dressing down,' as he now seems to call it. Most of his jackets prevent him flying.
Accent: British. His voice is a little high and thin, as is natural for his species, but the clipped tones of his native accent lend themselves very well, with a little cultivation, to sounding very British.
Weapons: He usually carries a small automatic pistol. It is a tasteful piece, neither plain nor overly showy. It cannot be fired while flying. Note that he retains all his equipment from his techno days, so the carbine may make a showing in cases of dire need or great adventure.
Habits: He makes sure to reserve at least one day a week for flying, to retain strength and stamina in his wings.
techno eekeeThe original
Clothing: As a rule, he wears black cycling shorts (for their aerodynamic properties), a black/orange-red equipment belt and an orange-red sash; nothing else. He's not averse to dressing up for special occasions (he's been seen in a tux), but tends to lounge around in the same gear he goes adventuring in. The sash is close-fitting and fastened to his belt, it won't flap about in the wind.
Other skills: Some engineering skills; loves tinkering with weaponry & vehicles but doesn't normally have the tools to hand to tinker with vehicles much. Some consider this a good thing.
Gun: A black carbine-like plasma weapon strapped to right arm when in use, clips to belt when not in use. It's something of an all-rounder weapon, neither the longest-ranged nor the quickest-reloading weapon out there, (it takes nearly a full second), but it's light weight, the power cells last a very long time, and eekee is a very good shot with it. It's a loud weapon when fired, eekee does carry a silencer but it's hardly perfect. Up close, an "omminous hummmmm" effect may be noted in quiet surroundings.
Grenades: eekee dislikes using these against living targets, but carries them as a last resort. The ones he has when he arrives in the Dream are a compact, powerful concussion grenade, the type you see in movies but are rarely carried in real life. eekee refuses to use the more effective fragmentation grenades. His grenades are unusual in that compared to the Earth norm they are small, only 2.5" x 1", and being plasma-based need to be charged before use. They take up to 30 seconds to charge depending on the desired power level and will hold a full charge for a couple of hours. He normally carries 2 charged grenades and a variable number of casings, and normally makes them a little more powerful than typical Earth concussion grenades.
Combat Knife: He carries a 12" blade for close work.
Claws: He prefers not to use these, but when desperate, will.
Other Equipment: He sometimes wears sticky-rubber pads on hands and feet for improved grip on certain surfaces, particularly sheer ones. He also carries a few small tools, electronic and otherwise, and a PDA that he frequently refers to to make up for his extremely poor memory.
Personality: Normally scatty and fun-loving, he can be focused to the exclusion of all else when he has an enemy in his sights or is working on something.
As hinted above under Age, eekee's hardly a kid but at the same time has little of the baggage one might associate with a 30-something human. He's a wanderer and has been known to dimension-hop on a whim provided he has a rough idea of where he's going, but at the same he's not the type to leave without saying goodbye. He hasn't made too many friends in other dimensions, planets and whatever, but that may change as he enters his 30s, his people don't hold their coming-of-age ceremony at 33 years of age for nothing.
Unlike the swifts of Earth, he's quite protective of those who are younger or seem to be weaker than him.
"See the multiverse and never fall to the dark side I suppose, whatever the dark side may be!" *laughs*
I have two, one by Penguins!: link which is cute but not quite him (my fault, I really didn't know how to describe him at the time) and a construction sketch by Scar for a commision that was never finished. Scar knew how to ask all the right questions so I consider her sketch a referance pic, but you'll have to see the description & below for color. UPDATE: Scar's back to work on the pic, is should be finished soon. I'm looking at a wip now, the colas lookin tasty.
The swifts of Earth:
Rough pic with short but nice text.
Nice pic showing under-wing detailing (except eekee's more charcoal than brown) and I'm taking some cues from the text in eekee's personality.
