Ceera Darkwynde - Gold Phoenix |
AS OF 05/15/2003, Ceera Darkwynde has TWO incarnations in The Dream! Ceera Darkwynde and Dark Phoenix were split into seperate people as a result of an incident in 'The Rescue'. See the 'Shattered Souls' RP for details. Prior to the incidents in 'The Rescue' both girls were the same person, and they share the same memories, history and abilities. Appearance:
It should be noted that Ceera's appearance is completely variable. If she should choose to be a different size, species, gender, or whatever, she has but to wish it so. The following are some of her more common appearances.
Ceera's "True Form", for those who can see such things, is the Phoenix Draconis form detailed below - a Human woman with the Phoenix wings and a red dragon tail. When Ceera is in either her 'Winged Human' or 'Human' form, she is using a polymorph spell to temporarily remove her wings and/or tail, or she causes the wings and/or tail to become etherial.

Age: Appears to be about 22 to 25.
Gender: Female.
Species/Race: Human, Caucasuan.
Height: 5' 5"

Build: Slender, moderate chest size. Gently curved, in all the right places. 
Hair Color: Normally dark brown or auburn (reddish brown) and wavy, it reaches to the middle of her back unless stated otherwise.
Eye Color: Acid Green (an unnaturally bright shade of green). Unless Ceera is intentionally hiding her appearance, her eyes are always this color. When working intense forms of magick, her eyes will glow bright green, regardless of what color they were before the spell was cast.
Wings: Ceera has phoenix wings, and it's relatively common for them to be visible when she is in an otherwise Human form. At rest, they look like feathered wings, patterned in brown, rust and white, like a Harris hawk. The wings come from her shoulders, behind her arms, with a wingspan three times her height. (Rather like most people would draw an angel). When invoking pyromantic magicks or phoenix abilities, they enflame, and at full power appear to be feathered with tongues of golden fire that glows like noon sunlight. When she isn't showing her wings, they are still there, but are only on the etherial plane. Creatures that can see the etherial plane can see her wings. |
PHOENIX DRACONIS: When Ceera is described as a 'Phoenix Draconis', start with her Winged Human form (above) and add the red dragon tail mentioned below. This is her 'True Form', a magically-created hybrid of a Human, a red dragon, and a phoenix. :

Gender: Female, but is capable of becoming male if she wishes to do so.

Tail: Ceera has a single, thick red tail, like a red dragon. In this form it is visible as a scaly red dragon tail that reaches to her ankles, and which is as thick at the base as her calf, and tapers to a point. The upper edge of the tail has a serrated ridge, which might enflame when invoking pyromantic magicks.
More about Ceera's Phoenix Draconis Form:
Several centuries ago, Ceera was married to a powerful pyromancer, named Markahn. He subjected Ceera to a complex pyromantic spell, which he stated was intended as a means of ensuring that she would never be harmed by the pyromantic arts. It resulted in the souls of a red dragon and of a phoenix being merged with her soul, turning her into a hybrid creature - a Phoenix Draconis. In this form, she appears human, but has feathered wings and a red dragon's tail. As a Phoenix Draconis, She gained most of the abilities of the dragon and the phoenix. Ceera can change in size from the size of a small hawk to the size of a full-grown Dragon. She is immune to all forms of fire and fire magicks. However, cold based magic is doubly strong against her. When in this form and using magick, small flames dance along her wings and the top edge of her tail. (more flame for more power in use). Finally, she gained the immortality of the phoenix. She can be killed, but she rises again from her ashes, or from a nearby hot flame. |

Red Dragon :
Ceera can invoke the soul of the red dragon that is bonded to hers, to take the full form and abilities of an Ancient Red Dragon.
Age: Ancient. Appears to be about 900 years old. There are older, more powerful dragons, but not many of them.
Gender: Female, but is capable of becoming male if she wishes to do so.
Species/Race: Red Dragon (non-anthro).
Height (with head held high and all 4 feet on ground): 30 feet.
Length: Body is 20 feet long, overall length is 70 feet from nose to tail tip.
Wingspan: 50 feet.
Weight: 11,000 pounds.
Build: Serpentine, with four fairly strong legs. Body is about ten feet in diameter and twenty feet long. When standing, legs span a width of 20 feet.
Coloration: Scales are a deep red, with a smooth, dull finish. The scales are large, thick, and as strong as metal. The neck frill is purple-gray toward the edges, and fairly dark. Wings appear to be feathered (like her phoenix wings in the fully enflamed state), and made of golden flames.
Eye Color: Acid Green (an unnaturally bright shade of green). Unless Ceera is intentionally hiding her appearance, her eyes are always this color. When working intense forms of magick, her eyes will glow bright green, regardless of what color they were before the spell was cast.
Background: Ceera first displayed a full dragon form in the Firey Embrace, as she entered the realm of Hikarinojou - the most powerful of the red dragons, and Queen of the elemental plane of Fire. She took on the mantle of the missing queen, to serve as Regent in her place. |
Solar Phoenix:
Ceera can also invoke the soul of the phoenix that is bonded to hers, to take the full form and abilities of a Solar Phoenix.
Age: Immortal. Though from the size and strength, must be at least 700 years old.
Gender: Female, but it's almost impossible to tell the gender, being a non-anthro avian.
Species/Race: Solar Phoenix (non-anthro).
Height (with head held high and both feet on ground): 25 feet.
Length: Body is 20 feet long, overall length is 30 feet from nose to tail tip. When standing, the tail extends about five feet behind the body. When in flight, the tail and the trailing edges of the wings extend further back in comet-like trails of fire, the length of which increases with her speed.
Wingspan: 50 feet.
Weight: Immaterial. Body is composed of pure sunlight. Uses TK and other spells to affect material objects.
Build: Similar to a huge hawk, with two strong legs and two wings, no arms or hands. Body is about five feet in diameter and twenty feet long. When standing, legs span a width of 10 feet.
Coloration: Feathers are a bright golden fire, like noon sunlight in Summer. Entire form seems to be made of golden flames.
Eye Color: Acid Green (an unnaturally bright shade of green). Unless Ceera is intentionally hiding her appearance, her eyes are always this color. When working intense forms of magick, her eyes will glow bright green, regardless of what color they were before the spell was cast. |

Anthro Red Vixen: A form she takes when she is in a playful mood, and especially when in the company of her friend and close companion, Lady Marianne. A red fox vixen in anthro form, with a single tail. This is a polymorphed shapechange.

Hair Color: Normally dark brown or auburn (reddish brown) and wavy, it reaches to the middle of her back unless stated otherwise. Tends in this form to wear her hair in a pony tail.
Fur Color: Rust red, verging on crimson for most of the body. Black paws and feet, to mid way between wrist/ankle and elbow/knee. White tummy fur and chest ruff, white throat and cheeks. White tail tip. Black tips on the outside of the ears, and fine white fur on the insides of the ears.
Eye Color: Acid Green (an unnaturally bright shade of green).
Tail: In this form, Ceera has a single, bushy fox tail. |

Divine Aspect:
Clothing (armor): Varies. Of late she has favored backless, halter-necked dresses that are knee length or shorter, so she can expose her wings and dragon tail at will. Otherwise, when in 'human' form, wears street clothes, mostly '60's flower child' retro styles, or 16th century historical garb, like they wear at a renaissance faire. Usually wears at least one thing that is purple. Often wears a lightweight purple cloak, with a hood.
Accessories (weapons, jewelry, tools, magic items, vehicles, etc.): Silver charm bracelet (see below). Several talismans and small idols. Silver chased dagger (slender, 4 inch blade). Small, silver tipped ebony wand, about the size of a pencil. Slender double edged sword (25 inch blade). Flying broomstick.
She has a Goblet of Healing that was a gift made by the Kitsune LilBryan. This cup is blueish green; like a jade of white, blue, and green intermixed; decorated with about two dozen different symbols of life and purity. If a person should sup holy water from it, the curses which drown their spirit will be lifted, and their entire body will be healed to wholeness. Its great powers can only be used once per day. Note: I normaly add a limitation to this artifact, that it can only restore a person's physical self to the most healthy state that they were in since their arrival in the dimension in which it is used. So if a person arrived in the Dream with a missing arm that had already healed as well as it could, the goblet could not re-grow that arm. But if they lost an arm in battle after arriving here, it could make them whole again.
Pets:
Several million small, medium brown Mexican Free-tailed Bats. Her favorite is named 'Kreee', a small female bat that is seldom out of earshot from Ceera. Other named bats are Siiii and Kaiii, and she has given one bat, Kyaaa, as a servant for a tiger girl named Aishiwara. Ceera can talk to the bats, and can use spells to see what they see.
A pet Nermic, named Sable. Right now it's still young, and resembles an adolescent black panther cub, with big paws and black feathered wings that have silver wing tips.

These documents are all PDF files, and include the full details on the various spells, feats and skills.
It should be noted that the spells in Ceera's spellbook, above, are the typical set of spells that she has ready to cast in a given situation. However, she has a last library of magical lore available to her, and can prepare other spells for use, if she feels a situation will warrant it. In general, while in The Dream, she can use her ability to manipulate dreams to simulate any spell that she does not actually have 'at the ready'. The Spellbook listing is provided primarily as a reference for GM's who want her to sticl to a limited, pre-defined set of abilities.
The Darkwynde Spellbook (HTML): A major work in progress, this is the data from the .pdf version of the spellbook, nicely formatted as a website, with one spell per page and a full indexing system. So far I have the level 0 to 2 spells completely cataloged. Levels 3 to 10 are indexed by level, but not detailed yet.
Ceera is a Witch: Telepath, Empath, Clairvoyant, Astral projection, Teleportation, and Transformations (of herself or of non-living materials), as well as several forms of mind control spells. Since being split into two people, she prefers to use white magick. Each time she uses dark magick, it increases the chance that she will become cursed again, like her dark half, Dark Phoenix.
Primary skill is as a 'Dreamwalker', one who can interpret, enter, induce and alter dreams or nightmares. Given that this is the Napping Cat's Dream, this is an extremely powerful ability here - she can reshape the reality of this place almost at will.
Her strongest spells are related to mind control, altering dreams, reshaping non-living matter, and pyromancy (fire based magic). She has very little ability with necromancy, cold-based spells, or spells that would reshape or alter unwilling living creatures (other than herself) or plants (that includes being poor at healing spells).
Ceera can cross dimensional barriers, and can move within the time stream. She can also 'step outside' the timestream, to see it's flows and structures. There is, however, a cost that she pays for altering time or crossing dimensions. A short change, such as slipping a few hours one way or the other within her current branch in the river of time, is no real problem for her. But changing dimensions or changing timestreams to alternate paths drains her abilities greatly.
Ceera can sculpt incredibly detailed statues and other items, using almost any material for the starting matter. She often makes 'memory statues' of obsidian, shaped like people or creatures she has met. These may contain memories of her encounter with them, or memories taken from them. Depending on the spells she places on the statue, they can also be used to communicate with, summon, or command service from the subject. (Placing a Geas on them). Once created, these statues can be added to her bracelet.
Ceera can talk to most animals, and through spells can see what they see, or what they have recently seen.
She is completely immune to fire, in any form.
Ceera has THREE souls. One Human, One as a Phoenix, and one as a Dragon. The Phoenix and Dragon sould were bound to hers by the original Phoenix Draconis ritual, which destroyed most of the individual aspects of the dragon and phoenix personalities.
She is virtually immune to fear-based attacks.
Ceera is a Goddess - A Queen of Dreams - Similar to Gorgon, but amoral rather than evil, and reigning over all kinds of dreams, and not just nightmares. There are some Avatars who worship her. The Bat colony in the caves of the Pool of Dreams consider her to be their patroness Goddess, and she has her largest concentration of followers in Anycity.
She is immortal. If she is killed, she is always reborn as a Phoenix Draconis, usually reappearing in the full Solar Phoenix form.

Special Effects (if any): Uses a purple mist to make things appear or vanish. She has a spell that allows her to reduce an object to a small silver charm or jewelery item. Her sword and many of her carried items are kept on a magical charm bracelet, from which she can retrieve and enlarge them as needed.
Relationships :
Ceera is normally incapable of feeling true love or affection for another. But there is one exception. She has found something special in the Kitsune known as Lady Marianne, and has become her Companion. The two girls share a very close bond of affection, though not as close as Lady Marianne shares with her Lifemate, Rhiann. Because of her close association with Lady Marianne, Ceera is now considered a member of Rhiann's Sauk tribe's 'extended family'.
Ceera works at The Welcome Center as an assistant to Karol Luis, and she has become rather fond of Karol. She considers Karol to be one of her best friends, though she does not have the kind of affectionate feelings for Karol that she has for Lady Marianne.
Ceera is friends with Snarf of the Sauk. He was the first person in The Dream to believe that there was still much good in her, and she promised him she would try to seek that side of herself. Recently she also befriended Sharf's 'Moonwing' aspect.
Ceera has several Avatars 'In Service' to her. Two are Canmephian Drygers - the identical twins Randall and Thomas Drake. They serve her as 'field agents', doing her bidding and performing various tasks for her. They are indefinitely in her service. Ceera also has taken a yoing Vixen, Soy Sauce of the Flame, in service to her as a student of pyromancy. Soy is geas-bound to serve Ceera and learn from her for ten years, or until such time as Ceera feels Soy has learned enough of Pyromancy.
Ceera was once Sesahcrup Llano's girlfriend, but they have parted, and Sesa is still considered a friend by Ceera. Sesa gave Ceera a crystal Rose, which now contains the memories of their meeting. It can be used to communicate with Sesa. She still keeps it as a charm on her bracelet.
Ceera gave Sesa a rose pendant, which he can use to communicate with her, or to summon her to him.
Ceera once had an 'apprentice', Kurisutaru Kagayaki, who approached Ceera and asked to learn from her. Ceera bound Kurisu to a month of service, to see if this will work out. Kurisu vanished before her term of service ended, and has not been seen for quite some time.
Ceera tends to be 'on her best behavior' around Sesa, Snarf or Karol, or anywhere near the Welcome Center.
Personality / Brief History:
As a child, Ceera was the magically gifted daughter of two relatively powerful mages, in a world where magick was not very common. Mages usually hid their powers to keep from being feared and persecuted by mundane neighbors. When about eight years old, Ceera failed to hide her gifts, and the villagers burned her family farm and chased her into the woods to die. She instinctively used her gifts to defend herself, causing the deaths of seven men and their dogs. She survived, learning to use their fear to protect herself. Throughout her life it has been better for her to be feared and left alone, than to dare to trust anyone.
Ceera is best described as mercurial - mood swings personified. She can be sweet and helpful one moment, and almost demonically cruel the next. Ceera is amoral - neither good nor evil. She doesn't much care what happens to others, as long as she gets what she wants at the moment. Yet, out of a spirit of enlightened self interest, she usually will respect truces and neutral territory, and won't go out of her way to do something nasty, unless she feels she has more to gain personally from that action than by not doing it.
She is incredibly confused by the attitude of most of the avatars she has met thus far - because so many of them have welcomed her warmly, and not feared and hated her for her powers. She claims to be trying to make a new start of things here, 'trying to be good', but she sometimes backslides into her darker habits.
Since Ceera was split into two aspects, it seems that the curses on her from her darker deakings with magick may have been lifted. Or more accurately, her twin, Dark Phoenix, got stuck with those curses.
Notes to artists:
The most striking visual attribute Ceera has are her eyes. You could easily lose yourself completely in their green, glowing depths. Very hypnotic and captivating - no matter what form she is in.
If Ceera is depicted as angry, her eyes will be glowing brightly, and her hair will be blowing back from her face, as if she was standing in a strong wind storm.
Ceera should always be depicted as attractive and beautiful, unless she is intentionally trying to scare the hell out of someone. After all, she can choose her own appearance.
