Romantically affiliated with Harriet (not an avatar in the Dream) | | Accessories | | None | | Pets | | None | | | Abilities/Skills & Power Level | | Hollis is very strong and agile and can become super-powered under circumstances of extreme intensity. In his most heightened state, he can punch through walls and lift cars. He possesses a range of mystical abilities such as levitation, heightened intuition, teleportation, invisibility, and can go ghost-like (incorporeal). These mystic abilities require prayer and/or concentration and can not usually be brought about instantly. | | Weaknesses | | Opponents can sometimes take advantage of Hollis's innate sense of justice and dupe him. Hollis's heightened super-powered state is not ever-present and comes about rarely. When not using one of his mystical defenses, he is vulnerable to standard weaponry. | | Special Effects (if any) | | Hollis may possess certain "miracle abilities" that can be brought on by his extraordinary faith, but this has yet to be exhibited. | | Description of Personality | Hollis follows a very strict black & white moral code, that can veer into self-righteousness. He considers his powers to be a gift of grace from his deity. Hollis has enormous faith and prays regularly, but does not discuss his specific religious views or attempt to convert others. He is outspoken regarding objectionable moral or social ills. Hollis has always been involved in law enforcement in some capacity and is an excellent leader of men. He can instill a sense of divine purpose into the men he leads. Hollis gets racked with personal guilt over men who become injured or die under his command.
Hollis believes in the importance of heroes, especially as role models for children. His insistence that the men under his command adhere to the highest moral standards has been controversial, to say the least. | | Brief History | In the two past lives revealed thus far, Hollis died early on. Both times he was a discredited former police captain who worked as a private detective with partner Zen-Dao Meow as part of the Spirit & Meow Detective Agency. "Spirit" is not Hollis's real last name but his hero moniker, named after the Will Eisner comic book crime fighter who inspired Hollis's vocation and appearance.
So far, in the Dream, Hollis's appearances have been limited. He has expressed outrage over the light-hearted endorsement of drug use which he abhors as a vile, self-destructive activity that takes one further away from the divine. This issue, among many others concerning morality, religion, etc. has been a source of tension in his partnership with Zen-Dao. | | Key Appearances | First ever appearance in Memories & Worries First past life appearance in Listening to Miss Yin's Tale Expressing his disapproval in Drug use is no laughing matter Hollis on a Chinatown Stakeout | | A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?" | | "I've dedicated my life to fighting crime & injustice--and you can too! We may not all have superpowers, but we each have certain gifts which await discovery. Find yours and let the hero awaken." | |
