Sarah Darkwynde - aka The Dark Phoenix
Note: This profile will get revised soon. I'm largely waiting for the new profile system to be released.

AS OF 5//15/03, Ceera Darkwynde has TWO incarnations in The Dream! Ceera Darkwynde and Dark Phoenix were split into seperate people as a result of an incident in 'The Rescue'. See the 'Shattered Souls' RP for details. Prior to the incidents in 'The Rescue' both girls were the same person, and they share the same memories, history and abilities.

It should be noted that Ceera's appearance is completely variable. If she should choose to be a different size, species, gender, or whatever, she has but to wish it so. The following is her 'at rest' appearance, which she prefers when she has no particular reason to appear otherwise.
Name:Ceera Darkwynde. But, to avoid confusion with her 'twin', she has recently started answering to the name 'Sarah Darkwynde'.
Age: Appears to be about 25. She has actually lived for at least five centuries. Even she can't tell you her exact age, due to the number of times she has changed timestreams.
Gender: Female. (usually)
Species/Race: Human, Caucasuan. NOTE: This 'Ceera' is now defaulting to her "Dark Phoenix" form (see below), though she may hide the wings (making them ethereal) when having wings would be inconvenient.
Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 110 pounds (soaking wet)
Build: Slender, moderate chest size.
Hair Color: Normally Dark brown, wavy. In Dark Phoenix form it's glossy black and wavy. In both cases it reaches to the middle of her back.
Eye Color: Acid Green (an unnaturally bright shade of green). Unless Ceera is intentionally hiding her appearance, her eyes are always this color. When working magick, her eyes will glow bright green, regardless of what color they were before the spell was cast.
Alternate forms - Dark Phoenix (curent default, as of 4/22/2003): Human female with black hair and black feathered wings coming from her shoulders, behind her arms, with a wingspan three times her height. The wings sometimes burn with black fire that seems to glow with some sort of 'anti-light', especially when she is using dark magick. Favors very revealing, tight fitting tops and short or slit skirts, with soft soled, low heeled leather boots, that come to just above the knee. The boots and other clothing are all black.
Note: In this form she is extremely likely to use her darker powers, including nightmare casting and feeding off the intense emotions of others near her. She gains the ability to do stronger spells dealing with nightmare and shadows, while becoming more vulnerable to light-based attacks.
PHOENIX DRACONIS: By use of a pyromantic spell, Ceera can assume a form from a past life, as a PHOENIX DRACONIS. In this form, she appears human, but has feathered wings like a Harris hawk coming from her shoulders, behind her arms, with a wingspan three times her height. This form also has a red dragon's tail, which reaches to her ankles. As PHOENIX DRACONIS, Ceera can change in size from the size of a small hawk to the size of a full Dragon, and she is immune to all forms of fire and fire magicks. However, cold based magic is doubly strong against this form. Her spell for transforming to this form causes a contained fireball blast ten feet in diameter, incinerating / melting anything in that circle other than Ceera and her posessions. When in this form and using magick, small flames dance along her wings and the top edge of her tail. (more flame for more power in use).
She can also become a full SOLAR PHOENIX, a bird made entirely of flames, which can shine with the light and heat of the surface of the sun. Size is variable, as with the Phoenix Draconis form.
She can also become a full-sized Red Dragon.
Clothing (armor): Varies. Of late she has favored backless, halter-necked dresses that are knee length or shorter, so she can expose her wings and dragon tail at will. Otherwise, when in 'human' form, wears street clothes, mostly '60's flower child' retro styles, or 16th century historical garb, like they wear at a renaissance faire. Usually wears at least one thing that is purple. Often wears a lightweight purple cloak, with a hood.
Accessories (weapons, jewelry, tools, magic items, vehicles, etc.): Silver charm bracelet (see below). Several talismans and small idols. Silver chased dagger (slender, 4 inch blade). Small, silver tipped ebony wand, about the size of a pencil. Slender double edged sword (25 inch blade). Flying broomstick. A skybike (tchnological flying motorcycle, a duplicate of Jeri Kleinlowe's skybike).
Pets: Several small, medium brown Mexican Free-tailed Bats. Her favorite is named 'Kreee', a small female bat that is seldom out of earshot from Ceera. Other named bats are Siiii and Kaiii, and she has given one bat, Kyaaa, as a servant for a tiger girl named Aishiwara. Ceera can talk to the bats, and can use spells to see what they see.
Abilities/Skills & Power Level: Ceera is a Witch: Telepath, Empath, Clairvoyant, Astral projection, Teleportation, and Transformations (of herself or of non-living materials), as well as several forms of mind control spells. She uses both white magick and black magick, as suits her mood and intentions, but tends to use dark magick more often, since the split.
Primary skill is as a 'Dreamwalker', one who can interpret, enter, induce and alter dreams or nightmares. Given that this is the Napping Cat's Dream, this is an extremely powerful ability here - she can reshape the reality of this place almost at will.
Her strongest spells appear to be related to mind control, altering dreams, reshaping non-living matter, and pyromancy (fire based magic). She has very little ability with necromancy, cold-based spells, or spells that would reshape or alter living creatures (other than herself) or plants (that includes being poor at healing spells).
Ceera can cross dimensional barriers, and can move within the time stream. She can also 'step outside' the timestream, to see it's flows and structures. There is, however, a cost that she pays for altering time or crossing dimensions. A short change, such as slipping a few hours one way or the other within her current branch in the river of time, is no real problem for her. But changing dimensions or changing timestreams to alternate paths drains her abilities greatly.
Ceera can sculpt incredibly detailed statues and other items, using almost any material for the starting matter. She often makes 'memory statues' of obsidian, shaped like people or creatures she has met. These may contain memories of her encounter with them, or memories taken from them. Depending on the spells she places on the statue, they can also be used to communicate with, summon, or command service from the subject. (Placing a Geas on them). Once created, these statues can be added to her bracelet.
Ceera can talk to most animals, and through spells can see what they see, or what they have recently seen.
She is completely immune to fire while she remains in her Phoenix Draconis forms (hybyid, Solar Phoenix or Red Dragon) or in the Dark Phoenix form. In other forms, she is almost immune to fire (thanks to a charm that once belonged to a pyromancer). One side effect of this spell, ragardless of her current form, is that she has THREE souls. One Human, One as a Phoenix, and one as a Dragon. The Phoenix and Dragon sould were bound to hers by the original ritual.
She is virtually immune to fear-based attacks.
Although she can sense and understand the emotional states of others, her own emotional responses with regards to fear and love are almost nonexistant. She can't feel fear, but she also can't understand love. This is the result of a 'price' she once paid for her stronger powers relating to nightmares, and is essentially a curse on her. The only way that she can personally experience intense emotions is by sharing the experiences of someone else, in a dreamwalk, or via a mind link to them. She can normally feel other emotions (Hate, anger, sadness, joy). So, she can 'like' her pet bats, and can have favorite posessions, but a deep personal relationship, or true friendship, are very abstract concepts for her to grasp. Recently, it seems her ability to feel love is beginning to return, but she hasn't realized that.
She may be under another curse, as it seems that in every new world where she tries to start a fresh life, she always eventually ends up feared and hunted.
Ceera is a Demi-Goddess - not quite a full diety yet, but approaching that level of power. If she can cross that threshold, she would become the Queen of Dreams - Similar to Gorgon, but amoral rather than evil, and reigning over all kinds of dreams, and not just nightmares. Until then, she should be considered a demigoddess - immortal, yet not quite divine. There are none yet who 'worship' her (though the Bat colony in the caves of the Pool of Dreams consider her to be a Goddess already). If she is killed, she is always reborn as a Phoenix Draconis, usually reappearing in the full Solar Phoenix form.
Special Effects (if any): Uses a purple mist to make things appear or vanish. She has a spell that allows her to reduce an object to a small silver charm or jewelery item. Her sword and many of her carried items are kept on a magical charm bracelet, from which she can retrieve and enlarge them as needed.
Relationships : Ceera has been Sesahcrup Llano's girlfriend, but their closeness has been strained by his frequent absences and long silences. They met at a beach party, and found they had an incredible amount in common. Though Ceera can't truly feel love, she values Sesa's friendship highly, and does her best to act as if she was in love whenever she is around him. The question is, is she fooling him, or fooling herself? Is she really 'acting' in love, or is she really in love, and convincing herself that she is only 'acting' the part? Only time will tell.
Sesa gave Ceera a crystal Rose, which now contains the memories of their meeting. It can be used to communicate with Sesa. She keeps it as a charm on her bracelet.
Ceera gave Sesa a rose pendant, which he can use to communicate with her, or to summon her to him.
Ceera is friends with Snarf of the Sauk. He was the first person in The Dream to believe that there was still much good in her, and she promised him she would try to seek that side of herself.
Ceera works at The Welcome Center as an assistant to Karol Luis, and she has become rather fond of Karol.
Ceera has an 'apprentice', Kurisutaru Kagayaki, who approached Ceera and asked to learn from her. Ceera bound Kurisu to a month of service, to see if this will work out.
Ceera tends to be 'on her best behavior' around Sesa, Snarf or Karol, or anywhere near the Welcome Center.
Personality : As a child, Ceera was the magically gifted daughter of two relatively powerful mages, in a world where magick was not very common. Mages usually hid their powers to keep from being feared and persecuted by mundane neighbors. When about eight years old, Ceera failed to hide her gifts, and the villagers burned her family farm and chased her into the woods to die. She instinctively used her gifts to defend herself, causing the deaths of seven men and their dogs. She survived, learning to use their fear to protect herself. Throughout her life it has been better for her to be feared and left alone, than to dare to trust anyone.
Ceera is best described as mercurial - mood swings personified. She can be sweet and helpful one moment, and almost demonicaly cruel the next. Ceera is amoral - neither good nor evil. She doesn't much care what happens to others, as long as she gets what she wants at the moment. Yet, out of a spirit of enlightened self interest, she usually will respect truces and neutral territory, and won't go out of her way to do something nasty, unless she feels she has more to gain personally from that action than by not doing it.
She is incredibly confused by the attitude of most of the avatars she has met thus far - because so many of them have welcomed her warmly, and not feared and hated her for her powers. She claims to be trying to make a new start of things here, 'trying to be good', but she sometimes backslides into her darker habits.
Notes to artists: The most striking visual attribute Ceera has are her eyes. You could easily lose yourself completely in their green, glowing depths. Very hypnotic and captivating - no matter what form she is in.
If Ceera is depicted as angry, her eyes will be glowing brightly, and her hair will be blowing back from her face, as if she was standing in a strong wind storm.
Ceera should always be depicted as attractive and beautiful, unless she is intentionally trying to scare the hell out of someone. After all, she can choose her own appearance.
A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?": "To grow in power until I am worshiped as a Goddess!"
Associates / Minions:
Asha - The Black Fire Elemental: Asha is an elemental who is in service specificly to Sarah Darkwynde. She is somewhat unusual in that she is a black fire elemental, an elemental from the negative plane of fire.
Elemental appearance: In her elemental form, she appears in one of two forms. If manifesting in an existing fire, she appears as a black flame that has a female Human face visible in it with green eyes like burning copper. In this form, she may be as small as a match flame, or as large as a forest fire. If manifesting on her own in her true form, she appears as a female humanoid figure, slender and slightly insubstantial, that seems composed of black fire. Her size can vary, depending on her current power level.
Mortal Appearance: A sun tanned Human girl with glossy, shoulder-length, raven-black hair. She looks to be no more than 16, and is usually about 4 ' 9 " tall. She moves with light, dancing movements, almost like a candle flame blown in the wind. Her appearance is attractive, yet unremarkable. The sort of girl that is pleasant to look upon, but who could easily be lost in a crowd. Likewise, her clothes are quite unremarkable. Plain black jeans, black soft-soled shoes, and a black long-sleeved dancer's leotard with a high neckline. The one remarkable thing about her are her eyes. They are solid black, shiny as polished jewels, and with no whites or iris showing. Like someone had replaced her eyes with polished spheres of obsidian. If you look closely, where the iris of each eye should be there is a glint of green lght, like a small image of a flickering candle flame.
Abilities:
Asha can manifest in any burning flame, and can take on the size and power of that flame. If she does this in a fire that is very hot or very large, she is especially powerful. When in a weak flame, she is equally weak. While in a flame, she can observe and converse, but isn't yet 'there'. If the flame is extinguished while she is in this state, she must retreat to the plane of fire, aned re-enter the mortal plane via a different flame source.
She can communicate audibly or telepathicly. She sounds like a young woman in her teens or so.
She is able to use any existing flame as a portal to enter a place, and physically manifest in her elemental or mortal forms. This also means she can enter the plane of fire through one flame, and exit through another. Her initial power level is directly related to the strength of the fire that she manifests from.
In her elemental or mortal forms, she can ignite flammable objects by touching things, even if they are wet or conditions are nearly impossible for ignition (the effect is much like igniting wet wood by using a very hot welder's torch).
She can consume and extinguish any flame, and gains power from doing so - the larger the fire, or the hotter it is, the greater the power she gains.
Sha can control the temperature of an existing flame, making it much hotter than mortally possible, or so lacking in heat that it can not be felt, and can not ignite even the most flammable of substances.
She can create a wall or cage of black fire, which burns what it touches, but which is immune to normal methods of extinguishing flames. A 'dispell magic' spell will dispell these walls or cages. Her range on this is the Farenheight temperature of the flame she mainested in, divided by ten. (So if she manifested in a fire of burning paper, figure roughly 45 feet, since paper ignites at 451 degrees farenheight.)
Sha can open a fire portal, which can be used to teleport others. The visual effect of this is a swirling ring of black fire that rises into a cylinder that encircles the subject, then fades as they arrive at the destination. This is one ability that she can still perform even if she is only 'observing' an area, through a tiny flame or spark. But if she isn't present in physical form, then there has to be some sort of fire in sight of the starting point.
