Avatar Profile Age: 11 (Birthday is December 9th)
Gender: Female
Species/Race: 1/2 human, 1/4 ice demon, 1/4 fire demon
Height: 4’ 7"
Weight: 85 lbs.
Build: Hiyami is slightly thin for a child her age. She looks like she has already outgrown her baby fat and acquired a childish version of a runner's build.
Hair Color(s) and Length: Hiyami's hair is colored a dark red, almost blood colored, with a streak of crimson in the front part of her hair. Her hair is straight and short in the front with a slight amount of body to it. She wears a long braid that extends to about her knees behind her.
Eye Color(s): Brilliant Blue
Clothing (armor): an always clean Japanese elementary school uniform seifuku and well worn sneakers. This outfit is enchanted to be self-cleaning and self-repairing, so that unless it's totally vaporized, it'll reform and look as clean and well taken care of as the day that Hiyami 'borrowed' it.
Occupation / Class: Kid explorer
Affiliations: Since coming to the Dream, Hiyami has gained several friends and a couple acquaintances. First of all, Hiyami considers several people that she's met in the chat as friends. This includes Xaila, The Hoa quintplets, Reica Selen, Angelina, and Larketh Oldsfire. Similarly, Hiyami has given her trust and respect to Vedas, Kasumi Murasaki, Porter, and Silver Fox. She has been on adventures with both of them, and feels that both are trustworthy people. Finally, Hiyami has gained a liking of Dinadan, of all people. While she doesn't particularly trust the otter, she still respects his skill and likes him, since he amuses her. He also pulls unique and interesting tricks from nowhere, which always gets Hiyami's attention.
Accessories (weapons, jewelry, tools, magic items, vehicles, etc.): A pair of 18-inches long black steel war fans, with white tassels on each. These fans are magicked to be undamagable, so that she doesn't have to replace them. When the fans are fully extended, the image of a nine-tailed kitsune is etched on to the surface of the blades.
In the Chat only: A never empty bag of Avatar plushies. There's always one of every Avatar in the bag.
Pets: A Black, demonic Saber tooth Tiger-like cat named "Fluffy." (see below)
Abilities/Skills & Power Level: Hiyami's skills are from 2 major sources, innate abilities, due to her heritage and learned skills from a variety of sources.

Innate abilities
As a half-demon, Hiyami manifests the following skills from her heritage:
Ice and Flame are My Friends: Hiyami is naturally attuned to flame and ice through her demonic half. Because of this, she is almost totally immune from abilities that use fire or ice in them. She has survived comfortably down to temperatures until the oxygen in the air has liquidifed, and up to temperatures that are found on the surfaces of some stars. Any attempts to burn or freeze her, without esoteric reasoning, always fail. This ability also made it easier for her to learn her magic, because she already had some minor control and her instructions built on that strength. (see below)

Faster then the Blinking Eye: Hiyami has an extremely high level of speed and agility. At her top speeds, Hiyami could create a sonic boom, if she purposefully didn't avoid that. She can sprint through areas, run across the top of bodies of water, can dodge most projectiles, and can even create an afterimage of herself for an opponent to think that she was hit(they rarely last for more then a second or two, but its enough to slightly relax defenses.) In addition, her reflexes are refined enough to work perfectly at those levels of speed.

Stronger then the Average Child: Hiyami is much stronger than her frame suggests. She could carry up to 200 pounds without significant loss in speed, and possibly dead lift 500 pounds with much stress and exertion.

Prodigy for Her Age: Hiyami's mental growth is much greater than a normal human. Her mind is wired in such a way that recall, relay, and reflexes are far, far above the average learning curve. This is one of the reasons she was able to learn her spells so quickly. For example, one of Hiyami's pastimes is learning languages. On average, Hiyami takes about 10 days to totally learn the nuances of said language.

Her Father's Child: If Hiyami believes she's in deadly trouble and no other choice is available to her, she has the ability to go into her demonic form. In this form, Hiyami's skin turns a dark green, her ears become pointed and her speed and strength increase threefold. Most of her magic is stronger in this form too. Her personality changes in this form as well, becoming less conscious of life in general, and gaining a sadistic streak that is rather disturbing to see from a child. This power is very draining for Hiyami to use for extended periods and tends to be her last trump card, something she only uses to give a new punch in what looks like a lost battle. She can hold this for a period of about a half hour, but she collapse into exhaustion for a couple days after using this for any longer then five minutes.

Learned skills
the Order of Dolna
Hiyami's primary magical teaching is from a school of magic called the Order of Dolna. What makes this school different from many schools is the teaching style. Each Dolnic mage finds an element( or in rare occasions like Hiyami, two elements) that they have the best identify with, and the method that the person most easily shape magical effects with and build their magical style from there, creating a high level of flexibility within their element. Sorta like a Montessori school for mages. The elements that Hiyami works with are fire and ice (or frost). Her method for creating her magical effects is by a set of exacting hand gestures done with one or both hands, similar looking to Shinto hand positions. Of key importance in this set of gestures are nine positions that the Order calls 'gate positions'. Each gate corresponds to one of the nine styles, or schools, that define the control that the Order uses to complement their teaching style, being:

Sensing: the skill of sensing things via one's element.
Genesis: the skill of creating a mass of one's element.
Shaping: the skill of manipulating the shape of one's element.
Kinetics: the skill of controlling and manipulating the motion of one's element.
Resistance: the skill of being able to resist one's element and using one's element to resist other elements.
Imprinting: the skill of placing a sliver of one's mind into one's element for a command or control.
Augmenting: the skill of using one's element to alter a target's natural abilities.
Synchronizing: the skill of using one's element to alter an item and its natural abilities.
Esoteric: the skill of using one's element in a more figurative manner. This school's focus is not on the element itself but on what the element means or does. Many Esoteric also learn to use figures of speech and idioms associated with the element as a source of abilities. The Esoteric specialists tend to be the smallest faction in the Order, due to the increased difficulty of the Esoteric Arts.

Outside of those nine hand gestures, every other gesture (Or group of gestures) in the set is a qualifier to modify the spell. Current qualifier gestures that Hiyami knows are:

General: Flame, Frost, Self, Area, Ambient, Other, Consume, Heat, Freeze, Burn, Chill, Ignite, Part, Big, Little, Null, Complete
Sensing: Source, Search, Person, Position, Item
Genesis: Creation, Draw, Gather
Shaping: Sphere, Long, Tall, Wide, Flat, Edged, Animal (Humanoid, Dragon), Surround, Swarm
Kinetics: Directed, Wrap, Duplicate, Distance, Triggered (Time, Contact, Signal)
Resistance: Bulwark, Refract, Deflect
Imprinting: Defend, Attack, Watch
Augmenting: Speed
Synchronizing: Air, Weapon, Metal
Esoteric: Cleanse

The one disadvantage to this style is its lack of speed. Unless Hiyami knows the exact order for a spell (If so, she normally has a quiet chant sounding the names of the positions), she has to mentally 'write out' the spell before casting it. For example, for a 'simple' explosive fireball, Hiyami's 'spell' looks something like this:

[Flame][Gate{Kinetics}][Directed][Little][Triggered{Time}][Big][Big][Area][Gate{Shaping}][Sphere][Gate{Genesis}][Creation][Complete]

Non-Order Magics: Outside of her Dolnic magic, Hiyami has 2 other spells that she can activate. First of all, Hiyami as learned a way to create a healing rain. This spell actually took Hiyami a long time to properly master, as it falls outside of her normal attunement. This rain increases the speed of the natural healing process by about thousand fold on any animal or plant that it falls consistently on. This spell is important to Hiyami as it's the best non-holy magic healing spell that she could find and easily use.
Secondly, she has her 'cute' spell. This spell was created by Hiyami's younger sister, Kura, as a joke, but its minor uses, and the fact that it's silly, kept it around as a quick spell. Hiyami looks as cute as she possibly can, spins around in a circle, and cutely points at her target, then utters 'Pi Po Pa'. At that point, a downpour of various cakes, pies, and pastries rain on the place pointed at a fast rate. On average, this dumps about 500 pounds of sweets on the target, through on an abnormally cute day; Hiyami has 'summoned' over 2 tons of sweets. This spell has little use other than for distraction, delaying someone, or humiliating someone.

War fan Training: Hiyami's also learned decent amount of weapon fighting with her metal war fans While a well-trained man with a sword could disarm her, she is half decent with her blades, being able to block a good percentage of coming attacks. She has even made of a move with her fans that she calls the 'Dervish Song', because in this move she spins around in a circle and slashes in random directions as fast as she can move. This move blocks most physical incoming attacks, with only 2 blatant holes: directly above her and directly below her.

Chinks in her Armor (Weaknesses)
Demon's Opposite: Due to her half-demonic soul, Hiyami's body is very susceptible to Holy Magic. Holy Energies are to Hiyami's body like fire is to most other characters, as her body gets burnt by them. Even healing spells with sacred parts to them, while effective, will cause her high levels of physical pain, as her body tries to reject the holy energy. Damaging holy spells just tear into her body, injuring her far above the level of the attack.

Mental Defenses: Another large chink in her 'armor' is her mental defenses: She barely has any worth noting. At the moment, anyone with any middling skill in psionics can punch though her defenses like they could punch through tissue paper. Currently, Hiyami's working on a way to strengthen these, but that's some time in the future.

Still a Child to Me: Despite her physical advantages, and enhanced mental growth, Hiyami is also still a child, especially emotionally. She can be persuaded into false actions, and gullibly led into situations that older people know better then to enter. Plus, words can hurt her much more easily then most. However, this does require some serious sweet talking to Hiyami. In addition, most people that have already tried to hurt her have a harder time manipulating her in this fashion, though it's always possible. Words are always a viable weapon against Hiyami.

Joys of Childhood: Several things can and will distract Hiyami, if used properly. First of all, ice cream will attract her attention very easily. Also extremely inventive spells and attacks will catch her eye for her to watch in awe. Granted, this won't prevent her from defending herself for incoming attacks, but she can be removed from the beginning of battles and such if done correctly.

Lemme out of here!: Due to an particularly bad incident in her life, Hiyami has a near phobia-level fear of being held against her will. When incarcerated, Hiyami has a tendancy to become frantic, then almost feral to escape, practically losing her head to escape. To avoid this, you'd have to be able to get her to be willing to come with you.

Description of Personality: Normally, the best description of Hiyami is as a child of wonder and curiosity. She's curious about most things, doesn't stand still for a prolonged period of time (unless she has a need to or wants to), and sometimes can be distracted by interesting things. Occasionally, it seems that Hiyami has little to no attention span, since she has the tendency to run off and find things that are of more interest to her then the subject at hand. At times, Hiyami has been known to be a little brat and, if her temper flares, will pull a mallet to clobber people.

In minor contradiction to her mindset, Hiyami has a rather aesthetic view on living. She believes that people, powers, and things have a purpose and should be used for that purpose. A sword is used to fight; Art is used to be admired. Owning something solely for the purpose of owning it is a waste of time in her eyes. As such, she feels no remorse in removing such items and placing them where they will be used right. To this end, Hiyami will rarely acquire more items then she seems necessary, though things like a home is important to her.

However, Hiyami is aware that there are times (like during a fight) to be serious and disciplined, as she learned from her dad at a very early age. If one of those times occur, Hiyami can focus herself to a more serious and devoted person. When she's this way, she's very pragmatic and keeps on the task at hand. Even in battles, however, Hiyami is more interested in seeing new attacks and spells and learning to counter them, then the actual battle outcome from time to time. While killing animals and such doesn't bother her, she can't bring herself to kill another humanoid unless she has no other option. In fact, after her fights are over, win or lose, Hiyami will go and heal her opponent, unless she has a good reason not to, to show that she has no hard feelings.

Hiyami has one great fear above all other things. She prizes the fact that's she's half-human and fears losing her humanity to any thing.

Special Effects
When Hiyami cries, her tears are a black ink-like liquid, so it's rather obvious that she's upset over something.

History
Hiyami can best be described as a child of 3 dimensions: the dimension that her father came from(a demonic plane of existence where survival of the fittest rules), the dimension that her mother came from(A slightly more advanced version of modern day), and the dimension where her mother is now(a high magic-medieval tech world). As Hiyami grew up, the effects of her demonic side would pop up in the oddest ways. The best example of this is when her ability to work with flame and ice appear at the age of 5. After accidentally setting fire to a table at home, Hiyami's mother wisely introduced her into the magic school in town, ran by the Order of Dolna. Due to the teaching style that the Order uses and her rapidly growing natural abilities, Hiyami's skill with magic grew at a phenomenal rate, allowing her to become a Journeyman in the school in only 3 years, a rate unheard of by most standards. Travels between where both parents lived also became a common occurrence for Hiyami, who quickly adapted to the rules in her father's world as she did to those with her mother.

When Hiyami was 8, she was sent to a boarding house on her mother's birth plane in order to dodge an ancient menace that was threatening the city that her mother lived in. This 'house' (it was more of a castle really) was situated on a sort of dimensional nexus, so people from various dimensions and places would sorta congregate there, including several of Hiyami's cousins and, later, Hiyami's little sister. However, the people at the boarding house tended to act as heroes, and were trying to defeat the menace. Hiyami, wanting to help protect her hometown, decided to help them, and after it was defeated, stayed at the boarding house until recently, so that she could be with her cousins, practicing her magic during the off-times.

After spending a couple years at the boarding house, Hiyami's interest in her cousins waned enough that she decided that she wanted to do her own exploring. Pulling together all the money that she had, Hiyami was able to buy a small bag of these single-use, temporary portals from back at home. With just those portals, her best set of war fans, Fluffy, and some basic supplies, Hiyami slipped away from the boarding house, used one of the portals, and began to travel into the dimensions that the portals took her. Unfortunately for Hiyami, her path through the multiversity took her into 11 of the dullest universes in existence and she found herself leaving them within a couple weeks, speeding thru the portals faster then she expected too. With her last use, the portals found the Dream, and she entered, looking for amusement.

A brief and character revealing answer to the question, "What is your ambition?": To see new things, Experience new sensations, and eats lots of ice cream!
_____________________
Fluffy He's a key part of Hiyami's posts so adding him sounded good.

Age: 3
Gender: Male
Species: Demonic Cat
Height: 3’6 at the shoulder
Length: Head to Tail: 7 feet
Weight: about 450 pounds (mostly muscle)
Fur Color: Midnight black
Eye Color: Dark Red
Abilities & Skills:
Razor Claws and Teeth: Fluffy's teeth and claws are strong and sharp enough that if he can fit his mouth around something, he can probably bit it in two, and if he can't do that, he can claw into pieces small enough to fit into his mouth.

Cast-iron Stomach: Fluffy's digestive system is amazingly resilient. If he can eat it, he can probably digest it. This also includes digesting almost all poisons, acids, bases, etc. etc. that he can swallow. The main exception to this is radioactive elements(he gets heartburn from them.)

Hellfire Spit:Inside Fluffy's throat are a pair of glands that produce a chemical similar to Greek Fire. Every once in a while, Fluffy can secrete those chemicals into his throat and spit them at his latest meal choice.

Speed of the Wild:Fluffy is only slightly slower than Hiyami on the ground, but since he's heavier, he can't perform many of the dodging stunts that Hiyami does, run on water, or afterimage, like his owner.

History:
In the world where Fluffy came from(the one where Hiyami's dad lives), his race was seen as one of three things: guard animals, garbage disposals, or a threat. Consequently, most of the demons there tended to kill them in the wild. When Hiyami was 7, one of the guard cats at her Father's castle became pregnant and had a litter. Upon seeing the litter and hearing that the kittens would be destroyed, Hiyami took it upon herself to 'adopt' the runt of the litter, naming the kitten Fluffy. Almost from birth, Hiyami has cared for him until he reached his full size about 3 months ago.

Personality:
Fluffy is half-resigned that he is owned by Hiyami. Once in a while, he's tried to attack her (for dominance or as food), but she's calmly beaten him back into submission. Between this and the fact that he's full grown while she's just hitting her growth spurt, he knows that she'll always be on top of the command chain. He also knows that she be the death of him, with her mostly adventuristic view on life. However, he is aware that she does care for him, and does have a small amount of care of his owner as well.
