Age: 32 (Give or take a few-hundred years in cold sleep) Gender: Male Species: Ariman (Looks exactly like a human, only slightly shorter - it should also be noted that, due to his genetic modification, Kyles is likely to live until well past 200, assuming something doesn't kill him first) Height: 5'6" Weight: 169 lbs (Earth gravity) Build: He has fairly wide shoulders, but they do not put one in mind of a football (pointy variety) player with pads on. His muscle structure is subtle in his arms, and while he is quite strong, said arms appear only slightly larger than a human's of about the same weight and a foot or so taller. Hair: A thick, seemingly wild mane of deep red; two shades lighter than blood. (If you need a comparison, think Rick Hunter's hair from the Macross Saga, but redder) Skin: Similar to a caucasian human who does not get enough sun, but with slightly less body hair. He is clean-shaven. Eyes: Piercing blue eyes, which put one in mind of a hawk when their gaze alights upon one.
Clothing: A tan trench coat covers his brownish-gray breast plate made of an advanced ceramic compound which difuses kinetic energy, and absorbs a large amount of heat without noticeable stress. He wears tall, black knife boots (boots with retractable toe-blades); and blue pants with a vertical black stripe along either side, which are made of a tear-proof material that provides some protection from extreme heat and cold. He also wears a black, hands-free headset at almost all times. When carrying a large weapon, he can secure it to the harness straps on the back of his coat, and he can strap smaller ones to his belt or thigh using similar threads and buckles.
Accessories: He has his headset, which he uses to communicate with the office of the Commander, which provides him with mission updates, and a method of requesting additional equipment. He has a heavily shielded and high-powered location device, which is used to lock on to his position, and teleport him various weapons (ranging from blades and kinetic projectile weapons, to beam and acidic weapons), ammunition, and occasionally a non-organic transport (organics cannot survive the teleportation process). He also has a kit which he can use to repair or analyze almost anything, and that fits in his coat.
Abilities: As with all Agents, Millen is a master of almost all forms of armed and unarmed combat. In addition, he has been biologically modified to be able to use his muscles to superior effect, affording him enhanced strength and agility. He can also use a specially designed adrenal gland to secrete, for a short period of time, a sort of hyper adrenaline which can let him evade almost any attack of any kind; however when it wears off, he is left extremely tired, so he tries to refrain from using it frequently. He also has an extremely sharp mind.
Special Effects: Due to biological manipulation, he is immune to almost all kinds of poisons. Those that are strong enough to affect him usually only do so for an hour, by which time his enhanced blood would have a chance to fight off the effects of the venom. He also has special skin grafted to his body, which affords him great protection to extremes in heat and cold (also meaning beam weapons and ice spells). However, it grants little protection against blades and kinetic weapons.
Androids: The Agency sees fit, from time to time, to send androids in support of Agents in extremely trying situations. Due to the volative nature of The Dream, Agent Kyles finds himself in these fairly often, and so androids are sent to him more frequently than others. Usually the androids sent are one of three different classes:
Wren-types (alternate picture): A Wren-type is a humanoid android, about 7.5 feet tall with broad shoulders, a somewhat imperfectly-human face {It looks like a person, but there are parts that are broken up by circuitry and metallic gleaming where a few internal parts show through}, and thick limbs. The Wren-type android can either be controlled remotely by operators on Arima, or can be set with its own AI with varying degrees of sophistication.
Wren-types have various hidden weapon systems housed inside their bodies which can be brought to bear by shifting the plating of its armor. By far the most commonly-used system is the Flare utility, which fires a jet of an ignited chemical at the target from the red jewel in its chest. This chemical burns extremely hot, and takes approximately 2 minutes to spend itself, making it useful against non-living targets as well as living ones.
The Wren-type can also be equipped with any number of portable weapons and many that would be too heavy for an Agent to carry on his or her own, much less use. In addition, Wren-types are able to perform a wide variety of functions outside of combat, including construction, medical work, computer systems management, and compositional analysis, among others.
Browren-type: Browren-type Androids are similar to the Warren 286s in the linked picture, although they are usually red and brown instead of silver and black, and their bodies are slightly more boxy. The Browren has heavier armor than the Wren, being designed exclusively for combat and security work where the Wren is built for multiple roles, and generally utilizes more powerful weaponry.
As with the Wren-types, the Browrens contain a host of internal armaments that remain hidden from sight until used. Because they were designed as combat androids for an organization that does not believe in killing sentient beings, one of the main systems included is the Spark utility. This sends an extremely high-voltage burst of electricty directly into any electronics with which it makes contact (via a pair of wires that are propelled towards the target with micro-jets). The Spark utility is usually powerful enough to short out any android or small computer, but leaves the Browren vulnerable for a time as it recharges.
In addition, some models sport arms that end in guns as opposed to grasping hands.
Or Informant-type: The Informant is a squat, roughly 4 foot tall, cylindrical android that is topped off by a somewhat dome-shaped "head". The "head" rotates slowly and holds 2 red, circular "eyes". It floats about 1.5 feet off the ground through the use of powerful jets of air, and an internal power plant.
The Informant is an android primarily used for mass-destruction or containment. Its main weapon is a very special internal generator and a particular filter that can be flipped in one of two directions. When used one way, it can convert energy into mass, creating a pencil-thin beam of extreme density that punches through almost all known armor like paper due to the gravitic forces it exerts. When used the other way, it converts mass into energy, expending a small lead cube to create an energy beam of incredible power about the size of a fist.
Due to the dangers inherent in such a powerful system, the use of the Informant filters by any organization other than The Agency has been prohibited by Agency doctrine, and should The Agency find any, they will confiscate or destroy them immediately. The generator without the filters is essentially just an extremely powerful reactor, and is perfectly acceptable for non-Agency use. (All pictures copyright Sega corporation)
Weaknesses: Although he is extremely hardy, it is inherently possible to kill Kyles (or any other Agent, for that matter) through prolonged application of the same things that kill any normal human. However, his resistances and ability to withstand punishment goes far beyond what would appear likely. This is a good thing, because being an Agent has inherent weaknesses all its own.
For starts, an Agent is charged with the duty of preserving all sentient life. Thieves, murderers, rapists, soldiers, terrorists, cultists, "evil gods", supervillains, mad scientists, Bond's arch-enemies... The list goes on and on. Kyles, being an Agent, has to protect the lives of absolutely every single sentient being with whom he comes into contact. In the past, he has given refuge to the villain Caeser Salad, and even fought to protect Gorgon's life (an inherently thankless job, I should mention). Even if he loathes the individual, it is his sworn duty to lay down his life before allowing that individual to be killed.
This also works in villains' favor, as he will take any and all actions necessary to ensure the survival of hostages in a hostage situation - up to and including the disruption of rescue efforts if he thinks they will not be 100% successful. At the same time, he would - similarly - disrupt those same operations if he thought there was a good chance the hostage-takers would be killed by the rescue party.
On a slightly different note, all Agents have a pathological hatred of dragons. In particular, bipedal dragons with leathery wings and scaly hides, but all obviously draconic creatures fall somewhat under this purview. This is due to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the near-annihilation of The Agency's home planet and its people. The Agency believes that these dragons - which it has termed non-sentient (probably because they'd feel too hypocritical killing them, otherwise) - are a threat to all sentient beings, and as such should be exterminated on sight. Any and all measures are taken to remove these scourges from existence, short of killing other sentient beings. Agent Kyles, poor soul, is a bit conflicted on this score, as he has met and even befriended a few dragon-like beings in his time on The Dream who were obviously sentient, and showed no prediliction towards destruction. As such, his interaction with draconic creatures would be extremely forced - particularly because he'd have to hide it from his superiors, lest they send androids to do his job for him on that score. On the other hand, should he see a dragon acting even remotely violent, he's very likely to instantly take the side opposing it, and to do so with lethal force.
What is my ambition?: "I am an officially appointed emissary of The Agency, which was created to uphold personal rights in their most basic form. It does not uphold the laws which are enforced by local law enforcement, but those which are the most basic human rights. The Agency's eventual goal, is a universe free of fear for the majority of the populace, and an elite few are given the job of safe-guarding that freedom in case of possible outside threat. While I realize I will most likely never live to see that day, I hope that my actions will inspire another to take up the position of Agent for this location, and so continue the tradition of shielding the general populace from the unjust."
