Of late Ron has been frequenting the magic shops, spellcaster hangouts, the chat, eerie places only wizards or wannabe's would go, the libraries, schools, and other institutes of knowledge throughout the dream. Neither lore nor merchandise does he seek. He's been watching the young ones, the inexperienced, those who have not yet mastered or even know a thing about the ways of magic. He's been seeking an apprentice.
He's asked the librarians, shopkeepers, and club owners to point interested individuals his way, asked them to seek him out for an interview. But only if they can answer this riddle,
"I'm often seen around a lot, referred to many ways,
See me black and you may find misfortune haunts your days.
Tell a thing, that should have been kept quiet, to all around,
Then look inside the sack, there I'm no longer to be found.
Nosiness, prying, snooping, leaves me fearing, full of dread,
For all these things are likely to see me soon lying dead.
These clues combined should start to give a picture, an idea,
Of who or what I am, so can you tell me? Is it clear?"
Ron waits in a library in Anycity calmly reading a book on the Life of Remethius, when people start to show up. To any that inquire about the apprenticeship he responds only with a question, "What's the answer to my riddle?" If they answer, correctly or incorrectly, Ron will stand and bow slightly. "Ron Bjork, Wizard of the Tower, at your service. And what might your name be?"
((Okay.. here's the deal. This is a serious thread.. actually, it will probably be played out over the course of many random threads, mostly my home thread. If you're not authorized, no worries, you'll get there eventually. DO NOT apply here if you are not serious about putting your character up for apprenticeship. I'm going to put a lot of effort into this, and its not going to be a quick process where your character comes out a powerful spellcaster. Its gonna be a long, drawn-out process between our two characters in which Ron teaches the basics of magic to the apprentice in the beginning. Your character will then technically be free of apprenticeship, though they will be expected to return to Ron from time to time to tell him how they've been.. ask him for help if they need it, or whatever.
This is a serious RP commitment and I don't expect to get too many bites. Those that I do may get turned down in the process. And be warned, accepting the role of apprentice means your giving me a large amount of control over your avatar's future... not that I will ever actually take control of your character, but that I'm going to be a major and defining factor in the characters development from the point the apprenticeship starts. Again, do not post here if you are not serious, and even if you are you might not even be chosen.. as I am going to have a large impact on your characters life, you are going to have a large impact on mine. Your character will have to win Ron over and prove they are going to be a good student before he'll take them on.
Also, you will probably receive a lot of tutelage from Caesar Potent along the way. He was Ron's teacher, and Ron will likely be getting him to help out every once in a while.
Now.. for the riddle. It’s not that difficult a riddle, especially considering the answer, but I do require you to answer it. If you can't figure it out... well, you'd better have a damn good reason Ron would choose you.
In closing, I really don't expect to many hits on this thread. I'm asking for a serious commitment that few PG's are willing to make, but if you are, please post and we can work something out.
Thankyou.. and happy posting.))
