Freki sneezed at the odd smell in the air, a sort of tingling smell, like lemon sherbet mixed with amphetamines. The flames made her sneeze more, and then flinch instinctively, her animal reaction to fire coming through involuntarily. Even though the flames weren't hot, there was still fear in freki's eyes as she made her way carefully down the path.
The Second Pit
Geri saw, through the dark glass, the light suddenly disappearing, and grew worried for what might have befallen Santo. He considered shouting, but reasoned that the glass was too thick for him to be heard from the other side. He raised a fist and gently tapped with his knuckles on the glass next to the door, hoping it would carry through.
