The Priestess' body rises limply to the surface under the now-female Snarf's efforts to rescue her. However, the vixen is totally unconscious, something visibly obvious to everyone and even more graphically obvious to the telepaths, since there is no response of any kind from her mind.
One thing that the telepaths can tell, especially Mari and Snarf, is that she is weak... very weak. At a guess, she's lost more than 90% of her life force in that burst of energy, and all you can tell is that it left the NCD entirely.
